Snow White star Rachel Zegler shared some insights into what this movie is really going to be about, and well... it doesn't exactly sound like the beloved classic that its ripping off.
They changed the meaning of "fair" from "beautiful" to "just". Which makes no sense because why would anyone be jealous of other people's sense of justice?
@@arminxvs3372 It's not even "be successful". It's probably - "end up as a junior or at most middle-manager, get made redundant at age 55: and then die alone".
I think that message may be inspiring for some people and/or of a certain mindset/background (irrespective of gender). The thing that seems to be missing is what are the consequences of those choices. I.e., life is about sacrifices, what are you giving up to get something else, and why is it worth it? Like another poster said, for some people it'll be work for a firm generating equity for them, retire (or get made redundant) and then die. The bleakness of that would be softened by having someone alongside (for both men and women imo).
If the movie has been considered a masterpiece since it was released, nearly a century ago, and you think it is problematic...the problem isn't with the film.
The original cartoon from 1937 is quite problematic. Disney changed many aspects of the original tale ... including the German characters. So woke. Such BS. Disney should never have done that back in the '30s.
@@dashx1103 and how do you "have something that make's them german" in an animation other languagez oh great genious? The characters where all white, the scenery was a forest and a castle for the most part, so... Go on, enlighten us with your big brain.
Language is a great way to do it. Even accents would work. Or you could just make sure the setting is clearly identified as German, and that the characters were clearly identified as German. But I get it. You believe that changes from the original folklore to the 1937 movie are fine, but that changes from the 1937 movie to 2023 are not. It is ludicrous. But it is the anti-woke brigade approach. Carry on! And credit to you for recognizing how smart I am. That is big of you.
Snow White was a perfect movie for it’s time. During WW2, when there were existential threats to our existence, this movie was about a girl who faced a murder attempt, and bravely moved forward “with a smile and a song” and found a way to survive - by working for 7 dwarves who took her in and took care of her. The love story with the prince is the cherry, but her friendship with the dwarves was the sundae. How arrogant to say that we are better than her - that if we were in the same situation, in that time, at that place, we could girl-boss our way out of the threats we were facing. Just, supremely arrogant.
@@YourPalHDeeDude, WW2 was happening for over two years at that point. Just because we hadn't put troops on the ground yet, didn't mean we weren't in it, with guns , planes, ships, tanks, ammunition, etc. Everyone at that time could see what was coming, so nothing the op said was wrong.
@@heatherphillips5983 The movie came out in 1937. WWII had started (not officially, but realistically) in 1937 when Japan invaded China. But that invasion came a few months before this movie came out. No one (other than Japan and China) cared. Its kind of like the war with Russia and Ukraine, no one cares. But the "official" date when WWII started was Sept 1st, 1939 when France and the British Empire declared war on Germany after they invaded Poland. So, no, to everything you said.
Not the seven dwarfs ✔️ Snow White not white as snow ✔️ Prince won’t save her ✔️ Queen not jealous of beauty ✔️ Snow White boss bitch ✔️ Sorry… what part of this is even remotely Snow White? I didn’t realise “updated for modern audiences” meant “used the title as a skin suit”
There's this old Polish movie from 2002 called "Superproduction" about filmmaking which satirizes this exact way of thinking. In the movie they use a title of a known nobella about a political migrant turned lighthouse keeper to make a romcom about a woman boxer. What a world we live in where satire becomes reality.
It’s become common for media companies to use the name of well-known, well-loved, stories/franchises to promote something For The Modern Audience, like a sticking plaster over a terminal injury. They’ve flexed their muscles baiting us nerds and now feel empowered to bait the normies.
Obviously. But it is still the same story and should portrayed in the same way. The storybdoes not change with time. The minute. If people cannot see that and want to project their views then make a totally different movie and leave this story alone. In my opinion.
1937 my great grandfather was in prison for running moonshine to make extra money to feed 10 children. His wife washed clothes 4 hours per day on a scrub board and then went to the fields to pick cotton with her 4 oldest children for 8 hours. After washing her hands she cooked supper. I am sure she would have sold 3 of her children for a prince to get her out of that mess.
Pearl Davis nailed it. She said, no one cares about the political opinions of a 20 year old, the only reason you're being listened to is because you're pretty"
Do these actors know anything about 1937? Both my grandmothers survived the Great Depression. As a little girl, one of them had been busy as the sole 'go get groceries for those in quarantine' source as she was the only one in the neighborhood immune to the deadliest pandemic in recorded history...never heard her whine about it. They were about to fight the largest, most bloody conflict in history. One of them had already lost her first husband to death, the other was raising kids in the tough end of an industrial city of steel mills, well, at least till they up and moved to a farm with shattered windows and an outhouse. These were tough, strong women, who happened to think Snow White was a wonderful distraction. And they were perfectly average people, not the exception. You are right, girls, it is not 1937 anymore.
THANK YOU! In context the original speaks volumes to Depression Era people….. from the visuals, allegories and songs…. That detail always gets ignored.
I have this problem all the time with leftists - trying to make them understand that the world before they were born wasn't the way their gender studies professors told them.
Unfortunately we're dealing with complete narcissists, who despite living in the most privileged time in human history, think they're extremely oppressed.
Deadliest pandemic in human history? Heard of the Spanish flu or the Black Death? A slight flu epidemic is nothing. The current count is under 7 million people in a global population of about 8 billion, that's 0.09% of the population. Spanish flu killed between 50 and 100 million people in a global population of 1.8 billion. The black death killed 25 million of a global population of 475 million. But a little blip in the flu statistics pushed hard by mainstream media and SARS-CoV-2 (second generation bird flu) is the deadliest?
All the people complaining about how oppressed they are, are all rich people with no problems in their life. If they were normal people, feeling "oppressed" wouldn't be the first thing they do.
Its not 1953 anymore - Peter Pan and Wendy's disgracing the original movie Something that ended in 1807 - Disney trying to erase white privilege and rewrite history I can't even with these absolute idiots
Rachel has the look of being in a cult in her eyes. She literally believes that girls will relate to a Snow White that’s a girl boss. She’s been lashing out on social media against the fans of the original film. While Gal is having arguments with the director and people behind the scenes cuz they’re cutting a lot of her scenes and using CGI to make her expressions less scary. Gal worked hard on her scenes for the evil Queen and they did her dirty by cutting most of those scenes out of the film. This is gonna be the final nail on the coffin for Disney.
The sheer arrogance and ignorance of Rachel, or at least her handlers, to say what she said. If it wasn't for that animated 1937 classic, Walt Disney Studios wouldn't have been a thing. That little girl needs to show some respect.
Gal Gadot is married for years to a billionaire who finances her career. But she has the audacity to rant that she doesn't need a prince. Very entertaining 😂😂
Not to mention she plays a character that is suppose to be jealous of Snow Whites appearence she looks BETTER than the actress playing snow white, so how the hell is that character trait even gonna work here?
"She's not looking for true love, she's looking to be the leader she knows she can be." Lord knows I would totally trade my awesome, amazing, loving, compassionate, beautiful wife, in a heartbeat, for some leadership skills. Thank God for progressive entertainment!
So dumb, right? Remember Wendy thinking about something happy? And she visualized a life as a successful writer, living and dying alone? 😂 That's the new dream pushed by Hollywood: hustle in your business, earn more so you can pay more taxes and die alone. Who wouldn't love to dream this as a kid?
@@Brandelwyn apparently snow white takes place in the mid to late 16th century germany. So apparently this new snow white (according to the actresd) wants to seize power and use the religious turmoil in the holy roman empire to sieze more power and perhaps join the 30 years war. they made snow white a power-hungry warmonger... wonderful
She's spot on. People are for sure much happier if they focus on power, work, money, and themselves over starting and raising a loving family. We should totally all focus on gaining more power in life and the world would definitely be a better place. And when we're on our deathbeds with no loved ones around us at age 65 due to heart complications resulting from a life loaded with nothing but stress, we'll all definitely know we made the right decision.
That child's little sneer about 1937 really bothered me, and my old brain said wait, hold up a damn minute. That was the year the Hindenburg blew up! The Golden Gate Bridge was opened. Amelia Earheart vanished. Chicago cops smashed up protesting steel workers, killing ten. And Snow White opened. It made about 1.6 million in two years. So that's....huh...about 120 million today? Disney won't get a dime out of me.
Everything Rachel said can be applied to the Evil Queen: forget love, forget friendship, forget growing through hardship. It's all about power and eliminating the person blocking your path to it. How is the audience supposed to root for a protagonist who 's just a copy of the antagonist?
I don't care. Disney is gonna figure out how to get women to flood the box office just like barbie did. Stop caring. Is it making money? No. But it looks like it might now that they figured it out with barbie. Might as well collect the profits and buy the stock than qq
I mean, they didn't say there wouldn't be friendship. They just said the prince wouldn't save her. Anyway, Snow white doesn't do a damn thing in any version, same with the prince. Sings a damn song and then pops up at the end to kiss her. But now they're removed the dwarves. I mean, I'm not surprised - Disney seems to actively try to make bad movies.
they're fairytales, they aren't 2023 moral lessons on equality and diversity. they're literally stories from different times, eschewing different values. most of them don't/can't/won't work if you "update" it to 2023 standards lol
To be fair the Disney cartoons were already "modern remakes" of the original fairy tales. I don't think that's the problem. The main problem is that if you want to make a modern version of the fairy tale you better have a damn good writing team and you need to make sure people understand it's not really Snow White anymore. Not to mention that you can do messaging in a subtle manner that doesn't annoy everybody.
I think the most telling part, most sad as well, of this interview was, "She's no longer dreaming about true love, but instead about being a leader". The major banks in America just did an analysis and are heavily investing in wine and cat products as the projections showed this attitude leads to being old and alone. We should all dream about more love and less "I'm better than everyone around me". Much love and keep on keepin on J.
Why? Really, WHY?! Why do all of these 'modern remakes' have to trash the original films to make their version seem like it is the superior one?! Snow White was to Disney what Iron Man was to the MCU. There is no way this new version of the film is gonna acheive anything close to the original in terms of box office numbers, fan reception, awards, etc. Did the original Snow White dream of someday finding her prince charming? Yes, but IMO the film focused more on how she actually IMPROVED the lives of the seven dwarfs when she broke into their house and they agreed to protect her. Did she cook and clean? Yes, but that's from her experience with the EVIL QUEEN who made her do chores rather than some man! SMH this is gonna be a hot mess...
Much like a dictatorship taking the place of a democracy they wage an information war. Villify the old heroes, move in thier own sycophants, demonize anyone who disagrees. This is all a calculated corporate campaign. These people in charge of Disney (and most corporations) arent creatives. They're power hungry narcissists.
You don't have to justify her actions in the film, there's nothing wrong with any of them, it's a fairy tale, an old romantic tale that should not be touched unless you do it correctly. This intersectional feminist nonsense in Hollywood is killing the industry.
We live in a world where the White House press secretary calls HERSELF a “historical figure”, and where Jennifer Lawrence claims that she was the first female action hero. Some child claiming that she and her friends are superior to a legendary masterpiece of film animation is another sign of the times.
Let's not talk about the White House full of cocaine addicts and just avoid politics all together. It's the sign of the times where all movies are these days are just politically agenda driven.
Rachel Zegler in an interview: "I was scared of the original cartoon, I think I watched it once and never picked it up again." Translation: *I hated Snow White as a kid, but now as an adult when I heard Disney was gonna make her a strong female character in the remake I was fully on board*
Fellas, I think it's more sinister than making a crappy movie. Remember 1984 (Novel or film)? Winston's job was to replace old news stories with a new version so that no one would remember the real past. I'm scared that's what Disney is doing now. I fear that is the reason for remaking all of the classics for "Modern Audiences" is to literally replace the films we love. It could very be that the plan is to stick all of the classic films (you know, "Problematic films") in the vault right next to Song of the South with the hope that they'll be forgotten with time. Then future generations will only have the "Modern" versions to view.
Disney's openly admitted that's their intention. One of their execs talked about it during the release of *The Little Mermaid* and how the originals were "retrograde."
She's not even mocking the source material written around 1812, nor the 2012 movie adaptation Snow White and the Huntsman. She's specifically mocking the previous Disney adaptation and she's probably not even aware of that. 😂😂😂
Drinker's entirely correct. They all use the same language continually. It's like a script they read from, or an agreed upon set of phrases that they have to get into every interaction.
Yes, and they have to sound enthusiastic about it as though they believe it. Maybe they do believe it as that would make it much easier to say the words convincingly. I would also silence that pesky cognitive dissonance.

Something all of these empty headed starlets don't seem to know is the historical context behind the first movie. Disney's Snow White came out when The Great Depression was still going on, and very fresh on people's minds who were coming out of it. War was stirring in Europe. Then comes along a sweet animated film about a princess. A princess whose father dies, is forcefully made a slave by her stepmother, her stepmother tries to have her murdered, she has to flee into a scary forest all alone, and ultimately, she's still happy. She's still kind. She's still hardworking. She tries so hard to keep her chin up, and her naivety gets to her. But through the relationships she's built through the movie, in a way, she was _still_ able to save herself in the end and earn a reward. The reason why Snow White was so successful is because it was a ray of sunshine and hope in people's lives. It took away some of the cruelty of the world around them. There were grown men who bawled like babies at the premiere. And to say that this is outdated? Kindness and hope? Sorry Ms. Zeigler, but I know which version of the movie I'm going to continue to watch.
There's SOME aspects of the film that are outdated, mostly thas Snow White is 14 which makes the ending feel a bit off, and that the prince felt like a McGuffin instead of a charecter. But the core message WAS NOT the problem.
@@N12015 If you recognize that -people were socialized into adulthood more concretely and slightly earlier than they are now- it's a reflection of the times and especially the setting of the story itself, there's zero issue.
"...Mocks The Animated Classic:" Really? The film that made Disney? The film that's the reason she has this job? The film that is universally loved by all in every generation, based on a fairy tale that's been loved for hundreds of years..? ...and she thinks all that is fit to be mocked, I presume because she feels she can do better? What's that word... oh yes: *Hubris.*
"It's not 1937 anymore!" She's a bright one. I wonder why people wanted something wholesome and uncomplicated in 1937? What could possibly have been happening back then that drove people towards finding comfort in a fantasy tale where good triumphed over evil? Real mystery, that.
Why would anybody want a story about a girl who no matter how many bad things happen to her, she remains kind, happy, hard working and optimistic until happier times do come during that time? Real mystery.
There's a scene in the original Snow White where a candle is burning in the foreground and you see the movement of the flame causes a stream of wax to flow down the side of the candle and collect towards the bottom. This shot serves no other purpose to the film besides being objectively beautiful and a genuine demostration of artisty. I can only imagine what that animator felt seeing that on screen for the first time.
Probably he was relieved that he was going to keep his job. Walt Disney risked his professional reputation that people would come to see an animated feature film, not just a short one before a live-action feature. He even took out a mortgage on his house and maxed out his credit with Bank of America. The banker who convinced the bank to give him the money was Jewish.
@Attmay The communist who shook Walt down on behalf of the Hollywood 10 was also Jewish. Walt risking insolvency actually became the standard for the company. The bulk of the profits from Snow White went into developing Pinnochio, Bambi, and Fantasia. When Fantasia bombed, they stopped work on Bambi and focused on the cheaper to make Dumbo. This is also when the animators' strike happened, and Walt was recruited for Operation Good Neighbor and went on his months long South American tour. If Dumbo had failed, that would've been the end of Walt Disney studios as America entered WWII barely a month later. Nevertheless, after WWII, Walt would again leverage the company in order to expand the studio to include live action features as well as moving into television, which was in its infancy. Then, almost immediately after seeing success in this, he leveraged it all again in order to build Disneyland. It really isn't until 1960 that with the success and continuous income from Disneyland that the Walt Disney company really has genuine financial stability. It's interesting, Walt was a guy who's near only interest in money was in regard to his next creative venture, which always had to push the envelope in some manner. Contrast that with now, and the Walt Disney company is in the hands of people who have become creatively and morally bankrupt in the unending pursuit of money and political clout.
It needs to be understood that the original Snow White is a collective work of art. Each animator completed only one cell a day, only one. they spent all day inking and coloring one cell only. The only film that can be said to come close to this in the modern era is Loving Vincent, the live action/animated/painted by hand in Van Gogh’s style feature film. Excellent movie if you haven’t critiqued it yet…
I can't claim to be an expert on body language, but I could sense Gal Gadot's unease and her Isreali military training kicking in (counting exits, calculating evasion routes, planning where to jam the interviewer's microphone in his body to cause a distraction). I finally got around to watching Wonder Woman 84 and I thought it... odd. Like it couldn't decide if it was going to comment on culture in the 80's relating to today or not, like it lacked that same self-confidence the 1st WW movie had. I think the mood they went for was '80's Saturday Morning Cartoon (which I watched a few of, even in the 90's). It mainly needed tighter writing and direction, and acting coaching for Gal.
Snow White dreams of being the leader her father told her she can be?! Her father, king of the country, is literally the patriarchy who is dictating what his daughter should do. But Snow White doesn't need a prince to save her. Somebody wrote this?! Calling it a writer's strike seems like misinformation and I support them not working. Love how Gadot literally towers Zegler.
Did you watch barbie? Or listen to a review? You're thinking too hard. You actually care about making sense which isn't a requirement for a successful movie for this audience. Stop thinking about what you want. This target market and you are polar opposites. If you like it, they won't and it won't do well with them. This is great writing. For the target market. Snow white animated film = start of Disney Snow white live action film = end of Disney As a certain brilliant director once said "its like poetry, it rhymes"
She’s 100% correct. In 1937 Snow White is a character who endured the death of her parents, cruelty, attempted murder and being thrust out into the wilderness but is still so kind, loving and caring that she wins the love and devotion of strangers and they are inspired, though they are small in size, to defend her against great evil at their own personal peril. That’s the story. The “finding true love” is just a sub plot. In 2023 some “modern women” look at this wholesome movie and recoil. They see kindness as weakness, service as subjugation, love as submission. It’s not 1937, but it some ways that’s a shame.
But they’d just throw out the argument it was important because of the ANIMATION only. And that the tale itself was timeless and could be told in any medium

In 30 years when this period of movie history is viewed, these modern adaptations will be forgotten overshadowed by movies made over one hundred years ago that will still be remembered. I’ll show my children and grandchildren the Disney classics and the few greats from my childhood, but they will never know the existence of these “modern films.”
Every single one of these live action demakes are forgotten about the second they are no longer in theaters. They are worthless and are even less cinema than the direct to video and dvd Disney sequels from decades ago.

"This modern take on [classical story] shows the heroine is [adjective] and [adjective], so she does not need to rely on [traditional theme] to show she was already [masculine attribute] all along."
A lot of these fairy tales are older than people say. They point to when the Brothers Grimm collected the stories. Some of them might already have been a hundred years old by then
I am absolutely fed up with these people on these modern productions declaring themselves to be leaders. Being a leader requires humility, hard work, charisma, honesty, and a willingness to not occupy the spotlight. All of these traits are incredibly lacking in these actresses and actors. And, when you publicly and blithely declare that you’re a leader, it’s extremely likely that you’re not.
Heard a great speech once which observed that lots of people claim to be leaders and show leadership, but there's an easy way to tell the difference: when a leader goes somewhere, other people follow. Literally and figuratively. All these other folks who claim leadership go places and nobody follows them. They're just someone going for a walk.
Real leaders also don't need to claim how much of a stable genius they claim to be. All hot air and no substance. Leaders have to work to earn respect, not demand respect.
Girl bosses don't dream of falling in love with a man, marriage, children and a home. They dream of working until they're 80 for a corporation and dieing alone in a rented apartment! Go girl bosses!

Snow White was mediocre. That's why it's going to be real hard to do worse. that said they should STOP THE REMAKES and do something original. Pillage African or Asian fairy tales.
@@RosefireBecause that would require actual work. Why do research and try and get rights to something new when they can just do half assed remakes of something they own?
The Brother's Grimm version of Snowwhite was written and published in 1812, but the fairytale has been in the oral traditions in all parts of Europe in various versions for an indeterminate (centuries) longer time. In some variants the dwarves are instead bandits, dragons or even giants. However, it remains that this is a purely european fairytale, no matter whether the drops of blood fell on marble or cheese. The story portrayed is a specific German one on top of it all. How odd that the very ideologues who keep complaining about "Cultural Imperialism" and "Cultural Appropriation" have absolutely no qualms about doing that very crime, in its actual form, to some cultural treasure that is not theirs and completely defile it, claiming it is somehow theirs and not ours - it wasn't even the American's, but Walt Disney at least had reverence and respect for the actual material. What Walt Disney did was neither Appropriation nor Imperialism, even if there were some changes made. The mainstay of the fairytale remained. The same could already not be said anymore for the Disney Company's first Little Mermaid animated movie - that can honestly be called "Disneyfication." However, what is happening nowadays is not "Disneyfication", but something far worse, something far sinister. It is the very crimes that "Social Justice" (Socialism) claims to fight against - as all crimes Socialism claims to fight against are in truth committed and perpetuated by it, as it is always projection.
From what I've read in history books, describing the 1930's as a "tough time" is an understatement considering the economic, social, and political turmoil of the time that would lead into WWII. Perhaps that's why people flocked to films for a bit of escapement, be they happy musicals like "Top Hat", epic war sagas such as "Gone With the Wind", or the gothic horrors of "Dracula" and "Frankenstein". I can only imagine how Disney's 1937 "Snow White" resonated with audiences as an uplifting happily-ever-after tale shining a bright light in a dark time. Stories can teach us how adversity inspires creativity and and builds up our inner strength and fortitude so that we can weather the storms ahead.
This is just a giant middle finger to Walt Disney himself. He never wanted anyone to mess with Snow White. Rachel Zegler is showing the same hatred as Amazon had for Tolkien: "Screw you; WE'RE telling the story now!"

Today's young women and girls need to learn that external beauty is a fleeting thing that it will wither and fade in time (the external being the Queen, she is a vain and very dangerous jealousy selfish woman who fears losing her good looks) while Internal Beauty is forever (Snow White's good nature and willingness to serve others without asking anything else in return is the Internal Beauty shows her kindness, generosity and doing good unconditionally is what makes her a far better person then her Step Mother could ever be) a moral message that rings true in today's era where social media has distorted our views of beauty and made us selfish and very materialistic and why the original Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves will still remain a timeless classic cause there are morals and themes in this film that will never age, something Rachel Zegler I feel fails to see.
A woman (the Queen) wanted to kill her. The Hunstman (a man) saved her by telling her to flee. She enchanted the Dwarfs and a Prince saved her with a kiss from the poison (it’s a fairytale) brilliantly animated and lit. A stunning film. Who the hell is going to bother with this remake, it’s tripe.

So in my bubble of Halo-specific fandom I was like "man, these fans are impossible to please" But I've recently couldn't help but notice the producers/writers of Marvel, Star Wars, Witcher, Rings of Power attacking the fan base over and over and over and over, that I've finally reached empathy (i hate that word) with the Halo fans. However I'll note that 343 themselves are the bosses of the Halo Paramount so it isn't as if a group of outsiders coopted Halo. And I understand that adapting Halo to a 10? episode season is quite difficult.. and like I said, I don't think they did a bad job at it. Also Paramount + is bleeding money so it's not like there's a blank check. (Thank God Star Trek Discovery is over, Michael Burnham was causing a run on tissues) But those notes are sort of besides the point I suppose.
I'm sick and tired of all these movies being remade and saying "the world is different now and we're gonna make this classic story completely unrecognizable to own the chuds."
Gotta love how open they are on how they want to genocide white people. Not only do they want to tear down our monuments, change all of our sites names, rewrite our history, and deface our culture; but they also cheer for the decline of our population and replacement.
@@derrickcrawford1081 Because name recognition. They can't sell original ideas, that's why they're trying their darnedest to ruin previously established stories
I'm moving ever closer to my 30s and "true love" seems like a worthy thing to dream about. It's not like Snow White was paralyzed by it. Having loving companionship with another person? Finding someone who can add to your life? No, you're right, how gross. Everyone's already cracked the code of romance so how could I want it?
@@jabrockobiden9434 The Father above is not being my partner in my life. He's not sharing my bed, helping me make children, or building a home together. There's a serious misunderstanding here if you think that's the case.

See, this is why we need original stuff. If they're that against the original Snow White, to the point that they wanna remake her character from scratch, then what the hell are we doing? Why not just make an all-new fairy tale with your ideals in mind. You can't kill the past, and trying to do so will only jeopardize your future.
Just yesterday I watched "Show White and the seven dwarfs" for the first time - this is the peak achievement of 2024 "Snow White" - and now I'm sure as never before that 2024 "Snow White" will be nothing but mutilation of every single thing that made the animated movie a timeless classic.
She basically said here that love is irrelevant, it's all about acquiring and exerting power. That's the message they want children to hear. I doubt parents will run their children to the theater for that. Hope Disney continues to fail.
I mean, the love message isn't great either - it'll teach some little girls that they need to find a boyfriend to be happy and they might end up rushing into one early on. Too many young people fool around when they're WAY too young for relationships.
@@Vaquix000beats the hell out of them growing up to be girl boss cunts. Teaching people love matters, that it’s the greatest thing you’ll ever find in your life is much better than teaching them blatant narcissism.

PLEASE!! Let the entire world hear Nerdorotic @03:26❗️”It’s called agency, OK? She can go out and have a CAREER! It’s better than love.” Absolutely brilliant.
This is EXACTLY why people in positions of influence like this need to think before they say things. Imagine a young girl watching this and thinking "ok, I guess I shouldn't fall in love or accept help from anybody and I should focus on chasing power instead". What kind of ridiculous message is that sending? Unbelievable.
Ironically, Disney already made a good "modern" live action version of Snow White where Snow was strong, capable, smart, proactive, kind, and also feminine and allowed to love her prince. Once Upon a Time definitely had a lot of camp and flaws, especially in the later seasons, but that version of Snow White was really well done while still paying homage to the original. The dwarves were also good, strong, valiant characters, and the prince was honorable, kind, brave, and allowed to be heroic and competent. So they've already learned their lesson on how to create more modern takes on very old movies while not shitting on the original in the process, but they've forgotten that since then.
I personally have found The Charmings the most boring people in Once Upon A Time, but, well, do-goodies naturally have limited range of action comparing to villaines, espicially villaines as good as Lana Parilla and Robert Carlyle. Still, the series were extremely good in my opinion. Snow&Charming, though not so interesting, were a great family model: loving, caring, supporting, always sticking for each other till the end and each of them competent in their own field. A rare sight nowadays. I also love how they made each character deeper than in original fairytale, never though changing the basics. The Evil Queen is a queen ruling evilly, but she had her reasons, faults and pains. That was the great point for characted development. Too bad the latest seasons went somewhat awry.
@@orangeninja8022 The problem in shows like is is you either have to raise the stakes to keep the momentum and risk being asked, what kind of substance you have been abusing, or you do not raise them (keeping same level of trouble or even lower) and risk hearing that the show is in its decline and not interesting anymore. Or you can turn it to the other side completely, risking the "what the hell it was", like with the last season of Once Upon a Time (I also try to forget it exists REALLY hard). And once you step on this way, you have to choose. And neither of options is particularly good. Marvel's agents of SHIELD went the first way and, well, somewhere at seasons 5+ I have been thinking, what substance has been the lead writer. The actors are really good, I watched it till the last episide because of them, but, well, seasons 1-4 are so extremely more cool and reasonable.
Eh I thought that version was pretty bland. I think a better example would be Snow White from the comic series Fables legends in exile. Starts off sheltered and naive like in the fairy tales. Gets constantly taken advantage of till she becomes the girl boss all the feminists get themselves moist over. But she’s not happy, she cynical bitter and alone. Eventually she hooks up with the big bad wolf, settles down, and has a family. She’s a much more balanced and mentally strong individual than she was as the little girl from the fairy tales, or the deputy mayor of fable town, and she will unleash hell on anyone that screws with her family.
she could handle herself but still relied on her husband and others to get the job done, and she never demeaned her husband and only helped build him up and support him as well as carry out her own objectives. She was a perfect balance
Again I NEVER “saw myself” in any of the cartoons I grew up on. I’m black and I grew up on Disney like a lot of people did. Herbie the Love Bug, Flubber, and The Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes- None of them “looked like me,” and I still enjoyed them. I don’t need my heroes to look like me to relate to them.
If a character can be relatable to everyone regardless of race, color, language and etc like Goku from Dragon Ball Z, then they will be more successful & memorable than some character made to cater to group of shallow people that only care about appearances.
Agree. As a kid I could relate to quite a number of popular cartoon characters such as Donald Duck, and none of them even physically look like me at all!
You are not everyone else. There is a reason they started giving black dolls to black children, instead of the usual white ones to care for. The implications were not so nice. And although I agree I do not need to see "Native American" superheroes to feel included. Knowing there is a Turok and Prey, is pretty darn cool. Beats the drunk off fire-water native trope that can't hold his liquor or speak in incoherent sentences.
Fr I'm brown and loved Rapunzel in Tangled in no way at all am I blonde with green eyes and being like damn I wish she looked liked me. It has always been about the characters personality and mind tf, it's so shallow to think that people will only relate with a character because of how they look. I'm not saying they shouldn't be representation, but when they create a character for the visual is just rude. People have meaning and so do characters cut us some slack.
Its because heroes are so much more than just their race and culture, but the ideals they represent which transcend all physical attributes. That's what makes them timeless and inspiring.
Growing up in a family of older members that survived the depression, dust bowl, and WWII, Snow White was so loved. No body from that generation i grew up around had that look at me im brave and strong attitudes. The stories came out in casual conversations and made me realized, i got no major issues in my nice post WWII American house that cant be overcome. People are so desperate for issues in the 1st world theyre making what dad calls 1st world problems, their not a big deal in the big sceme of things.
Written and animated Snow White are awesome. My parents took me to the cinema when I was a child to see the movie. It was shown every summer holidays back then. I watched it with my sons when they were kids. If I'm ever a Grandma I'll be watching it with my grandkids. Disney can keep this live action bastardization.

Evil Queen: 'Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all' Mirror: 'there is a straight 4 knocking about with a bunch of smacked out hipsters in the forest, she has a great personality'
Yes. They do. They forget or ignore that Disney bastardized the original Snow White folktale in making the cartoon back in '37. Somehow that is okay. But changing it for a different audience nearly a 100 years later? I guess it is "woke bs." LOL. This controversy is mind boggling.
1st of all, the fairytales, myths and legends are above time, they are valid and will stay valid, bcs they speak directly to the human souls about human nature. They are the basic stories of humanity, they will never get lost. 2ndly, there is no need to push the girl boss character here, Snow White is a brave spirit, she is not just a prize for a hero in a fairytale, she is the hero of her own story. She doesnt need shifts, she is brave enough in her own way and she has to have luck and be saved, bcs that is what we love about these stories, the good ppl are always naive and pure, that is why they deserve to be rewarded by beauty, love and fortune. She does not have to be some super sassy idependent action driven hero, she just has to be good to be rewarded. The super sassy action driven independent vilains are always punished. If you take think about it, this is not even a fairytale anymore, it has nothing to do with fairytales.
They're desecrating Walt's most beloved movie and the movie that essentially made his company and was a part of the history of cinema! Snow White (a Celt princess, bona fide European minority), is a tale about puberty , but also about the fact that external beauty (the wicked queen) is nothing without internal beauty. But of course, they want girls on puberty blockers and to cut off their breasts, so figures. Not sure the birds and animals will be coming to play with what's her name. They're usually a pretty good judge of character.
@@katrose5179 Very white skin and black hair is Celt. Celts lived all over Europe in the Bronze age. Hallstatt is in Austria, La Tène, Switzerland. Germanic peoples assimilated/displaced Celts in late Antiquity. The fact that Snow White is a Celt, but that the Queen presumably isn’t (the Disney queen looks very Garboesque) adds an extra layer to the story. @@derrickcrawford1081it is extraordinarily difficult to find fulfillment while pursuing ambition. By its very nature, ambition means it's never enough, there is always a higher mountain to climb. I'd guess that even many CEOs and senators aren't really fulfilled; there is always the next quarter's profit that could be bigger, that extra piece of legislation that can be passed. Walt Disney bet on everything to have Snow White and Seven Dwarves animated film a smashing success back in 1937. Little did he know that in 2023, the company would make a complete mockery of it with a live action remake no one asked for.
