In this video: About 30 mins plus driving around Oakland Downtown. I exited off freeway 880 on Alameda exit and proceeded to make a right turn and head up the road about 3/4 of a mile and made left turn on Broardway . You will come across : Franklin St, Webster St., Oak St. Driving along Lake Merritt was a beautiful sight and end this clip right around heading up on freeway 580. I hope you enjoy watching this video and may bring back great memories.

The vibe
Do you know those French impressionist paintings from the turn of the century? Lake Merritt could be a model for a 21st-century version. It has that Saturday-by-the-lake relaxed vibe. Geese quack, joggers loop the perimeter and rowers plunk their oars into the water. Add to that some barbequing, salsa dancing and sun bathing at Lakeside Park.

Oakland...my home town, lived there almost all my life, graduated from Oakland High School 84, joined the military go to desert storm, now retired in Washington state, but my heart never left the Bay

Thanks for the memories! I lived in the San Francisco/Oakland/Berkeley areas from 1978-1990 and do miss the weather, food and the friends I met along the way (St. Columba). May the good Lord continue to bless this area with great things to come.

Born and raised in the east bay worked in Oakland 20 years in the meat business which is all gone now , retired in the north west it's a little sad seeing oakland now.
