In this video, I'm checking out how the Thor driver goes installiing some particularly large farm fence posts. Will it do it quickly and easily? These posts are hard to drive in any situation.
If you're looking for a fast, easy way to install driver farm fence posts, then watch this video! The Thor driver punishes posts. It may well be the perfect solution for driving strong fence posts for post and rail or hard to get to spots quickly and easily!

We use the Thor th40 on an excavator in a high clay/rock soil. It's been a game changer

My employer has a similar one set up on the vineyard excavator for post replacements we can do two rows at once in a pass. I still prefer the Munro telemast on hard ground as I can auger a hole 🕳️ and knock in a post without having to move.

Great for flat areas , it would be difficult in steep hilly terrain I expect. I'm too old to be banging in posts these days and have bad back pain. I get someone in to do long lengths of fence, to bang in the posts. Then I go wire it up. Thanks for the vid .

This setup would suit a lot of people in a lot of different situations I wonder what it’s like with steel pipe

I can only speak from the point of timber, but steel is much easier to drive straight than timber.

Needs possibly a plumbbob chain mounted on to help.

Good morning, Tim, excellent piece of kit, just wondering if you change the striker if pushing in steel pickets, Cheers

Hi mate. I know you can change the heads. I’m sure the manufacturer could answer that. The crew I was with doesn’t use it for that. I did ask the question!

If you want to bash in pickets with a ram/motor just buy a hand held post driver 4 stroke, I won't name any products or names so not to advertise, but there are many out there. I have used one for three years and over 7,000 star pickets for $1,650 with no other costs.

Can you use this for concrete post driving? How do you keep it straight and level, or is that up to the operator?

Yes. But as with all percussion drivers, turn down the pressure. Most operators use a spotter for level, some hang a chain from the driver that’s also a depth gauge.

I’m genuinely not sure but I’ve subsequently spoken with Lisa from Thor and she’s great. www.thorrockbreakers.com.au/
