Tward: you nailed it. This is one of those special Hondas like the S2000 and the 1st gen NSX. Every inch and molecule of that car has been engineered by Honda's best. After watching a few other channels, nobody gets that like you do. Great to hear that they are still making cars like this..

The day is here! Love seeing you and Topher in the same machine. Crazy that there is a class of car now where it feels like you truly can do no wrong. From the Elantra N to the Rolla GR to the Golf R to the Civic Type R....everything is just freakin mega. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.

Love what they've done with the FL5! Unfortunately never had the chance to drive the FK8 Type R but coming from a V6-6MT Accord Coupe I am sure the handling in these Type Rs is next level. Your video certainly goes along with that sentiment hahah, thank you for giving it some beans 😛

I drive an fn2 type R everyday and the flatness of the chassis is just what makes an R. The cars feel super direct and perfectly controllable. Some people dont like it because the car is stiff, but because of that they are a blast to drive. My car is already 15 years old so I can only imagine how the development has continued and how superb this car will handle! IT LOOKS SO GOOOOD. Both inside and out! Shame about the fake engine noise butbim sure someone will have a fix for that. And love both ur and the Topher's enthusiasm haha and congtats for being able to snag one. Looks like Honda really improved where it counts and i hope to have one of my own soon enough

Great review! So glad you acknowledged torque steer. I can't understand the reviewers that talk about steering feel, and follow it up by saying there is no torque steer. For what it is worth, my FK8 95% as fun to drive as my GT3....but definitely buy a GT3 when you can. It is special.

I have the feeling that anyone who comments "FWDs arent fun" have never driven a modern high end FWD. When I got my 22 i30N, I couldnt believe just how good it drives; I mean, you can slide this thing on all 4 tires through a corner. Modern drivetrains, suspension and tires make these things just incredibly these days.

This first drive review talks about feeling everything through the steering. On the other hand, the Throttle House review makes a point to say the car has no steering feel while showing Thomas really struggling with the steering. I'm a fan of both channels, but such wildly different impressions.

I also was thinking I'd be in a gt3 by now, I'm at the stage where I want something fun, reliable, polished, that I can daily drive if needed, has a big boot, rear doors for kids, an amazing gearbox, and I think this just ticks all the boxes, Euros as amazing as they are, are expensive, the image is also a bit to hey lookat me, servicing is not cheap, and the performance is just so high that on the street it is hard to have a good time without doing triple digit speeds, this is just the sweet spot, and at 70k aud, we'll the s2k 20 years ago also cost 70k aud, so it's not as crazy as it sounds, great review !

Awesome video! I think another huge upgrade over the Si is the hatchback body style. The stance on this thing is so cool going down the road.

I had a spill in my 23’ Si (different plant builds I know) and I had to unbolt the drivers seat to clean it up. The 4 seat bolts were surprisingly loose compared to what I’m used to. Maybe try snugging them down

Honestly this video kind of just irritated me. I attempted to purchase an FK8 back in early 2021. I called around to tens of dealers and finally found a dealership that was getting an extra one for winning some award and would sell at MSRP. They let me know the car was yet to be built but that meant I got to pick the exact color and spec. Well I do all that put down the deposit and begin my wait. I waited 6 months due to UK Covid occasionally shutting down the plant before getting told that the plant was closing for good and my car just never was going to be made. Ok. Not the dealers fault. But the dealer says to make it fair we’ll sell you the first of the next gen we get at MSRP. So this car comes out and I remind the dealer of their promise to get me the first of the next gen and my deposit. They proceed to tell me that the first 3 are spoken for but I can get in line! So they expect to hold my deposit for +3 years and maybe then I’ll get one. Then all other dealerships are asking absurd markups. Like 30k markups claiming they are only getting a few! Like they were only ever going to get a few. Dealerships are acting like they were ever going to have 30 Type R’s on the lot. Sorry rant over. It just pisses me off that I’m 30, have no debt, and can finally afford these things but dealerships decided I can’t. Meanwhile they’ll give their salespeople one at MSRP. Like what bs is that!

The integrated tach/speedometer seems hard to read. IMHO, two round guages (one for tach, one for speedometer) might be preferred by some drivers. Also I think that protruding touch screen sticks out too much and may actually intefere with the driver's line of sight.

If I ever find one for retail in a color I like I will definitely be getting one. Really wish Honda would allow its customers to order directly through them like Tesla does so we could get at msrp. I would wait a year if that’s what it takes.
