Will be installing the fins on my R27, before the boat goes back in water. They are on the way. Your video was what prompted this upgrade. One thing I would mention is that in drilling holes, it is a good idea to debur both sides of any hole after drilling, only takes a few extra minutes. In the aircraft industry it is a must before joining parts. Thanks for the video.
Looks like a worthy addition. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if the inboard fins are needed. Did you happen to do any testing with just the outboard fins installed?
No that I have installed the Lenovo AutoGlide and can see/record the trim tab position on the MFD, I’ve been doing some testing with the fins off. I’ll see if I can get a trip out with only one Fin installed to see if there is any difference. In theory, instead of cruising with them ~90% deployed, it should be less with the fins on.
Well done Two questions/concerns: If the boat is left full time in salt water, what about galvanic corrosion If fishing is there a concern in regards to snaging or cutting the fishing line
The first thing I did when we got home with Elvin Ray was install anodes on the trim tabs. I just replaced them last week. Just being in the water part time, the anodes were used up. I don’t see the fins being any more susceptible to galvanic corrosion than the tabs themselves. As for fishing, I guess it could be an issue if the fish runs under the boat. I don’t fish, so that’s not an issue for me.
