This was the information I needed. Love lithium but my whole setup is AGM algorithm $$. Thank you so much. As a mechanic you speak my language. Will update DC DC charger/ solar charger to maximise alternator and sun time. 👍
Thanks again for a very interesting and informative video, These sit down chats your now doing are great, i Iearnt a lot from this one, thanks for taking the time to help us all out.
Thanks heaps for your information, I have a question if you have time to answer. Have you seen lithium batteries they claim you can just drop them in. Is this the same as what your saying here. Or are these lithiums different?
Thank you for the non bias information. It's so hard to find. My van has a BMPro genius and I have been trying to find out if I needed to change to a BMPro batteryplus35-ll to convert to lithium and you have just answered my question. I think as it already has a victron MPPT solar charger and I will put a stand alone DC-DC lithium compatible charger in I will leave the genius in and rely on the solar charger and DC-DC charger to give the batteries the bulk supply of charge and like you said the 240v mains charger (Genius) will likely be on for a long time when plugged in so it's not as important to have that lithium profile. Correct me if I am mistaken but this should work fine?
I have recently replaced my two 100Ah AGM batteries in my camper trailer with Two 120 Ah lithium batteries, is there anything I need to make sure these are charging correctly? From memory there is no adjustments on the cheap as chips chinesium DC DC charger.
Im confused as I watched another video of yours earlier today. Drop in replacement video part 1 and part 2 with solar King batts on a bench with your van in the background. You stated in that video you could use an older style redarc bcdc charger and it would work fine. I use a icharger 4010 duo which is meant for the radio control hobby market. I charge my lithium camper batts with that on PB mode (agm) it charges at CC then CV. CC upto 14.4v then CV down to a % or initial charge current. It does exactly the same thing charging an agm battery the main difference being through CV cycle on lithium is super quick where as agm it takes ages for the last 20%
this video really needs an update however the older DC charges used to hold a bulk/ absorption. For long enough that battery was able to fully charge there are seldom charges that can do this
Hi matt, just dropped in lithium battery got new solar controller set profile on projector bms to lithium for 240v charging.projector won't charge battery anymore while travelling. Can i put dcdc charger in caravan from grey anderson plug to charge battery and still run fridge when travelling? Have red Anderson plug for alco anti sway. Cheers
What if you have a combined charger like Projecta PM300 which claims it can charge lithium. Is it OK just to change the "battery type" in settings or are these chargers still not suitable/ideal for lithium drop in?
Defiantly will subscribe learning from these videos. 💯%. Is it wise to change car starter battery to lithium if running 120a lithium for your Ute canopy and 120amp lithium for camper trailer. Running 2 dcdc chargers with 8 b&s to canopy DC charger and 13m2 to camper trailer with dcdc charger the way to go?
Buy a cheap TR16 shunt kit off ali express. Once set up you can see exactly (almost) battery percentage and amp hours left. Plus voltage and amps in or out of battery.
From the get-go I could tell that you were in a Jayco. The disgusting new surfaces are just that disgusting. No doubt at all. I hate this new look, look cheap n nasty. I had a Jayco with that finish, hated it, sold the van.
