During this summer (2015) DRS are supplying top and tail class 37's on 4-coach trains for some of the services along the Cumbrian Coast line. In this video we see a service from Carlisle to Preston at Carnforth, and then later on that morning, the same set on a Preston to Barrow service.

That's quite a lot of power! Four up, and two type 3's.

I’ve always wanted to ask, why did DRS put 37s on this line? Was there a stock gap? What happened?

There was a shortage of dmu's so the 37's was a stop gap.

What a grotty livery for the coaches! Not very impressive for visitors. Like the video though.

Keith Alexander The ex-Anglia brake coach does not help, and if the other DRS coaches were all up to the standard of the clean one it might look better. Poor livery or not, I bet the standard of seating is far superior to the normal Sprinter/Pacer. The other rake I saw during the week had 3 DRS-liveried coaches and a very faded ex-Virgin trains brake which stood out like a sore thumb.
