There is one thing that I always concern about. When electric bass player plays solos on the 5-string bass with low B, they barely use the low B string. For example, in this video I've noticed that Mr. Bennett doesn't use the low B string in 95% of his solo, even like 98%. Only when he plays the groove, he hits the low B string here and there once in a while with a few notes. In other words, I was wondering why people use use 5-string bass with low B to play a solo. They can use a 4-string bass or 5-string bass with high C, or even a 5-string bass with anything tuning they want. The purpose of this concept is that a soloist can fully use the electric bass no matter it's in the low position/high position in the neck or on the lowest/highest string. I understand people tend to use more the highest string when they play a solo, yet they should try to balance or use various ideas with the low B string, even in the high position. That's what always bothers me a lot, even when I watch the world class top bass players to play a solo.
