I finally got in touch with her setup guy, Hiroshi...and she is using 3 overhead mics, 1 condenser mic in front along with 2 overhead cameras, and 3 cameras floor level...hope this helps...
Really I would have expected a recording session followed by a camera performance afterwords Because she’s that good. To get that sound from overheads and room mics. is even more impressive.
I have never seen anyone in my entire life have so much fun and happiness playing DragonForce on the drums, most people usually look stressed out or scared and this girl SLAYED IT with her enthusiasm.
I found this cover of hers like twenty minutes ago and instantly clicked this reaction. I’m 2 minutes in and for some reason I’m crying lmao. I’m a child of a musicians family and the way this girl was pouring her heart out just freaking broke me. I felt her soul, love and passion.
What has always impressed me with Junna, beyond her obvious talent, is that she is having fun. Most drummers, especially ones doing covers of pieces like this, look very stressed out, but she's just enjoying herself and doing what she likes to do.
Yes, this is the fun of watching Junna play, she's just so enthusiastic, and looks like she's having a blast. It makes watching her a joy. He really needs to react to Senri Kawaguchi, if he hasn't already. She's incredible.
It's interesting to see the dichotomy from Western to Eastern drummers, or musicians in general. A lot of Western musicians are so worried about messing up the song that they always look so focused and serious, whereas most Eastern musicians I've seen appear to have more self-confidence in themselves and their abilities and are able to actually look like they're having fun with it. Even look at Gee Anzalone's (the drummer for DragonForce) reaction to Junna's video. He says he loves seeing someone having fun because he's so used to seeing people covering the song and looking serious. Yet at the same time, he looks so serious when drumming as well.
@@mr.osclasses5054 Gee's reaction to her cover is great, but yes, on stage he does look very serious. It may be because it's his job and if he messes up he'll look bad in the eyes of his fans, although seeing talented people make mistakes makes them more endearing in my eyes.
@@papa_xan That was a thought I had in my head, but didn't put in because I was more focused on the comparison and the irony of his statement. That said, you're 100% on the mark. Mistakes show us that performers are human and not to be put up on a pedestal just for doing something they trained to do for years. We all do that in our daily jobs. Yet as its own irony, it endears them to a lot of people (myself included) for that very same reason.
Junna is a force of nature! Her original work as the drummer as Hagane is amazing as well. Junna is the drummer we all imagine to be in our wildest dreams.
@@RicardoMartinez-oh9sq she isn't a child, she's in her 20s now. She only stated playing the drums when she was 15 though. It's impressive considering she only started playing at 15. She looks really young but she's in her 20's now
The current drummer for Dragonforced loved it. Says it's his favorite cover (besides his own which I guess got him the job in the first place). Loves that she smiles and the powerful attitude (he smiles too), not common in metal who are usually brooding and frowning.
I have no idea about drumming and so I couldn't judge her - but I love this explosion of energy, she lives music and she put all her young life into it. Amazing girl...
Once you stopped looking forthe mics you were beginning to notice her technique. Junna is singing along with the song. If she ever gets to play sets for a band she will be a force to be reckoned with.
Yes,well said, this girl is absolutely stunning in looks as well as ability.I have never seen anyone in my life play like she does,I don't know what else to say,my mind is BLOWN.
Junna used to be in a band called Girls Rock Band Revolution, but she left last year. The band got a new drummer and renamed themselves as Trident. Here is the last video she did with GRBR: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9k9txMouU34.html
Absolutely amazing. That young lady puts here heart and soul into it and I sincerely hope she goes far in life . Just look at her face while she's playing, you can tell she loves what she's doing
"where are the mic's" as someone who has worked in productions as sound guy.... drums can be heard over every mic in the near vacinity. i worked a gig where in the pit the drumer was under the "narator" trio and the drums were so loud they were being picked up by the singers mics and the drummer was constantly being told to go gentle. this girl is smashing those drums so any mic neare them will pick it up
That's a really nice effect you have! Your face and whole body are totally frozen for about 30 secs while JUNNA is in absolute beast mode. Had it not been for her, I would have thought the video was frozen. The true definition of someone who hits the drums HAAAAARRRRRRRDDD!
I was probably one of the people that told you to check her out (just for entertainment). She (and Yoyoka) are my favorites. She's a freaking BEAST! Thanks for the cover! Someone said that the when she takes the drink of water she is mocking one of the guitarists in the original video I believe. The drummer from Dragon Force reacted to this and he couldn't stop smiling the whole way through. He said it's the best cover of this song he's seen of this song. I always say she's the most ENTERTAINING drummer in the world. Love the faces and all the wildness. Nobody has disagreed....LOL
I think she should put a 1.5 inch wooden ball on the end of each pigtail. That way she can play notes in between what her hands are playing, turning it into 128th notes. Damn I love this girl, I can feel what she feels thought her facial expressions. This is when the music is not 'In-Your-Blood' but 'IS-YOUR-BLOOD'. [ ROCK ON JUNNA, ROCK ON WITH YOUR BAD SELF]
I remember years ago my friend's dad owned a music store and played for me a recording he did with his band. The recording was phenomenal. I asked him how they did it he said just one microphone hanging from the ceiling. I was shocked. And that was like 25 years ago. Can't imagine the stuff you have today. She's awesome!!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums dude... there's propably no reaction video of yours that i'm not glad with, with even only one part of it :D you're too shy sometimes on your comments :D
My girl burned 1000 calories during this jam! A serious showman this young lady:) I approve. This is why I love the drums, it’s a whole body instrument unlike any other.
Love her style. It’s very similar to the kinetic athletic style of Yoshiki from X Japan who I know is one of her influences. Their drumming sound is similar, too. She’s great!
Subscribed. Not just to hear that accent of my homeland again but having just discovered DragonForce some 2 hours ago I can’t get over how fast they can play all their instruments, and this drum cover and your commentary are awesome.
The mad mix of this adorable young woman flailing away like a muppet yet being musically and technically accurate at such a pace... ...is quite compelling. I’ve shared this vid with at least a dozen friends and almost everyone has a different take on it....views run from feminism to the better discipline of Asian culture to the virtues of having “dog ears” hairstyle. Myself; I would just love to see Junna in an ensemble that can utilize her talent, personality and showmanship....
Definitely the most intense drummer on the planet. She is always deep in the pocket. I wonder if she could perform a concert without passing out due to lack of energy.
Junna is AMAZING! Thank you Andrew for reacting to her. I've been waiting for a long time for this! Junna is the human vesrion of the muppet ANIMAL from The muppet show! She is a bit of a mistery... There isn't much info about Junna but I think she started playing drums at age of 15! I think she is around 25 years old... Be safe Björn
The started playing at 15 is correct. Rest is hard to pin down. I would go with 23+. I've seen as high as 29. My guess is 23 though, it makes the most sense.
good video. and JUNNA is absolutely amazing! ive been following her for quite a while! and for those who think she "can only play fast and only play metal" ...as a drummer myself of 26 years ...believe me if she wants to play jazz she will play jazz .if she wants to play straight up rock n roll she will play rock n roll lol ! for a young lady with her obvious talent it is ridiculous to think otherwise ! and what sets her apart from so many others are her theatrics while playing ...you cant help but smile as you watch lol definitely do a reaction to "Trident" and the song Voltage ! JUNNA was the drummer for this band!
The sound is quite roomy (looks more like a rehearsal space than a studio) so I'd imagine it's just over heads (and possibly some triggers in post for Kick snare and toms but that'd be ALOT of work). The part where she's just drinking is a reference to the original music video.
I had never considered that, but now that you mention it, yeah... the playstyle is identical. If she's not NyangoStar, there's a clone of her somewhere who is
That thought occurred to me while watching her and I just had the thought like...."NyangoStar has to be someone who loves drums at least this much." Not that I know many female drummers or anything but I can't imagine who else would be NyangoStar if not her
his face from 1:00 to 1:17 is like, ok, nice, didn't expect that, but ok.. at 1:17 after that fill, shit just got serious.. and after 1:28 his wagen just went down the hill
Difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert, Insane, God-mode, Asian. This is a straight out perfect example to the saying, “There’s always an Asian better than you.”
The puzzled look about her drinking something in the smaller window is a nod to the original video. One guitarist jokingly drinks a beer while the other solos.
There are many world class female drummers in Japan - Haruna of Lovebites, Tamu of Nemophila, Hana of Gacharuc Spin, Akane of Band Maid to name just a few and several of them have psted drum cam videos of their live performnces n RU-vid.
Лучше,,junna,,нет на эстраде.Это ДЕМОН,ураган,Цунами,вихрь,дикий зверь эмоций,души и сердца.Она вся в этом вихре музыкального произведения.Уужас красоты исполнения.😀👍
She. Is. Fabulous. She should join the Kami Band! I would love to see her do some deathcore playthroughs. The sip of coffee was a nod to the original music video, where the other guitarist has time to neck a beer while Herman Li is going off in his solo.
She does the cover of Canon Rock too. 10 years old YOYOKA SOMA is the latest in the spotlight drummer, another Japanese. Some of my favorites are Ami Kim, A-Yeon, Sengri, Kanade Sato, Amira Sayahira, and two licensed street drummers from Taipei, Taiwan, Vela Blue(Chen Manquig), and S. White(Luo Xiaobai).
