I think I would go with the one that would allow me to just drop on another sprocket instead of replacing the whole drum. This is something I honestly didn't even consider until now. Thanks for the video brother. Keep em coming. 👍
Hi, I have an old Partner 500 with a worn spur sprocket, and knew very little til I watched your video. I am struggling to find out if I can buy a new one of either for mine, but I would like to upgrade to the rim type. I am in UK. Do you know how I could find a new one of either for mine? Either by part number or something? Would my sprocket/drum be the same part as used by many saws? Kind Regards
I have a echo cs400 that runs 3/8 lopro all stock except muff mod and tune. It seems like the issue these saws have of chains loosening is due to the drivers bottoming out in the sprocket teeth and causing a cogging to occur. The only way to run these saws for any time you have to run the chain looser that what is considered normal. Would switching to a rim drive eliminate this issue?
How do you find the right part for your saw? I have an MS391 which has the 1 piece. I've been trying to find the two piece but nothing comes up when I search for an MS391, only the one piece.
@@owenjohnson5030 ebay is where its at. You can get those Oregon rims and clutch kits, rim and all for 3/8 or 325 pitch 7 tooth with 7 small spline for under 20 bucks all day long. I bought an Oregon kit with rim for 15 and some change for my ms250 and out of pure curiosity I bought another kit thats a no namer generic brand for my ms180 and they're identical. Literally identical except that one cost upwards of 35 dollars depending on where you are and said Oregon on it, and the other dont and costs 10 bucks with free shipping. If you look at both you'd swear they was made in the same factory on the same machines. Probably are to be honest lol, but anything upto an ms250 you can get that clutch drum and rim kit on ebay. Just make sure you pay attention to if its a small spline or not cause there's 3 different sizes of spline. Small spline/SM7, large spline/SD7, and the one sthil uses on their small saws its called a mini spline by most ppl.
Can u bump up the chain speed with the rim style. Go from 7 tooth to eight tooth. Have used ever changed husqvarna 350 from stock 325 pitch to 3\8 pitch drum and oil pinion?
Yes the rim sprocket allows you the ability to change chain speed by selecting a different tooth count. Going from .325 to 3/8 will make your 350 cut slower because 3/8 takes more power. Most 50cc chainsaws run .325 from the factory for this reason. 3/8 is best for 60cc saws and up.
Steep one flip your camera . To save a penny , spend a pound The cost of a pro saw it worth the two part system . Non pro saw its cheaper to buy a new saw as if the chain gear is warn , lots of other parts will be warn too , so it’s logical just buy a new cheap saw .
