The story is that Robert ask Jason ( his god son ) to attend in his dads place. Jason told him he had a prier commitment so it was a complete surprise when he walked onto the stage. Seeing him is what brought Robert to tears. Jason wearing his dad's bowler hat and playing his drum set . Makes me tear up every time I watch it.
@@tomenrico6199 That part made me tear up big time - especially when Jason looked up at the "stairway" that John ascended almost 45 years ago at the end. Made me think of my dad too.
I must have watched this 100 times over the years, always hits hard. The entire tribute video from that night is great. Brian May, David Grohl, Jack Black, Lenny Kravitz all honor Led Zepplin!
Me too. My first prom I was 12 in ‘75. The school I went to couldn’t afford a cover band, so they got a DJ and he played the orig. (50 years later, it’s the only song I recall from that magical night.). It’s tear-inducing with the all flourishes here and seeing Robert Plant’s reactions, especially.
Let them tears fly brother... I've watched this video probably 50 times and the tears come every time. What a performance from everyone involved. I enjoyed your reaction.
Since you have not since Jason play before you really gotta see him play Kashmir as the drummer for Led Zeppelin. The last time Zeppelin played live and Jason gave it everything to impress his father Kashmir live at Celebration Day..
Jason is wearing his dad's hat and playing his dad's drum set...... and at the very last word of the song you'll notice he looks up to heaven to his dad.💔
The icing on the cake is the fact this was the 4th song of the Z tribute from that night. Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, and Kid Rock all sung first, with Jack Black doing the MC'ing. The whole thing is quite memorable.
Great reaction Lee🙌👏✌️👌💯. Most young reactors don't even know Led Zepplin or Heart or Kennedy Center Honors and truly go into this totally blind. You were watching Rock Legends cover Rock gods In front of said Rock gods On a night the Rock gods are being honored For their Rock godliness Choosing the Rock gods most famous song And they slayed it‼️💯🎶👌✌️
It's the most honorable thing to be moved to tears by music. You would be far from on your own watching and listening to this version, it defies words. Brings me to tears nearly every time. Side note, the whole gig is amazing!
Crying is fine, the fellas were crying too. This performance made me cry the first time too. Every time I watch now I still get huge goosebumps. Heart is the best interpreter of Zep. *hugs Lee*
Since Heart started, imho, Anne Wilson has been Zep’s best interpreter! I saw Heart in the Barracuda days n their interpretation of ROCK N ROLL was as good as Zep’s own. She’s a treasure!
Hell that was my first time watching this it made my eyes water ! That was cool ! The choir had the same hats on as Jason honoring his Dad ! Extra cool !!!!
Thank you! Sorry, I’m just not familiar with him. Incredible guitar player and did this song justice. Does he play with a band Or is he a studio musician?
Here's the thing. It IS an emotional performance. And THANK YOU for reacting to the whole version. There is a cutdown version making the rounds of rectors and it bums me out seeing it. It's too good a performance to not enjoy the whole thing.
The backing band consists largely of well-respected studio musicians. You can spot sax virtuoso Blue Lou Marini on tenor sax. The lead guitar solo was performed by Shane Fontayne. Heart was one of very few bands that Led Zeppelin openly approved of covering their stuff. John Paul Jones has worked in the studio with Heart in the past. In live shows, Heart has performed every song off LZ's 4th album. In 1978, I saw Heart live and they encore'd with 'Rock and Roll.'
A ton of people participated and it's not the band Heart, just Ann and Nancy. But to your point, the Zep guys gave Heart their blessings as far as performing any of the Zep catalog live. A year after this performance Heart did a tour with Jason's band opening and Heart's set closed with set of Zep covers and Jason on drums. Ann and Nancy asked the Zep guys prior to that tour if they had their blessings to do it.
Good to see I'm not the only one who sheds a tear over emotional music. It's called empathy. When you've lived on the edge of society and somehow pulled through, you feel things more deeply. And that was some emotional performance and occasion. Of the three of them, it was Robert who was most emotional. The other 2 are consummate musicians, but Robert was always the lyricist, singer and the emotional heart of Led Zeppelin.
Lee so Very glad you experienced this dedication and honoring of the Best Rock band ever! Quite a Special occasion being honored at the Kennedy Center! ❤( A ton of Famous people there-it’s right in Washington DC). It’s just Amazing - Robert & Jimmys response and how moved they are! ❤❤❤ Have to tell you I Love your reaction!! I cry every time I see this! It’s a Legendary Moment in time!❤ People that are Moved by music are My kind of people!!!
Jason played with Plant Page & Jones at the celebration concert, he learned all the songs, listening to all of them. He wasn’t sure what all they would play, & wanted to be prepared, he studied them to play just like his father. For the celebration concert within a short time, there were requests for 20 million tickets, so they did a lottery for only 20,000 tickets. There’s so many great interviews with band members, & with Jason, I’ve loved watching them. A funny one is Plant & Page interview Japan.
This song always makes me emotional. I've seen this version countless times and I gotta say, with the orchestra, choir and Heart, the emotions go deep. Of course Led Zeppelin watching and Jason honoring his dad just pushes my emotions over the edge! I love your reaction and your understanding of the magnitude of this performance ❤
@@mikewoodrow5878 its actually a music festival with Robert, Willie Nelson, Bob Dillon ans Allison Krause. Would be fine with me if just Robert, but it should be a very interesting evening. Really looking forward to it!
The original version of this song used up all the epic in the world for about ten years. This version used up the rest. Just watching it on a ten inch screen gets my pulse to about 120.
You should watch the complete tribute to LZ 'Led Zeppelin - Kennedy Center Honors (complete)' - several other performances before Heart, including Foo Fighters and Lenny Kravitz, and you get to see their reaction when Jason is introduced just before the introduction of Ann and Nancy
To see one of Jason's featured performances, (with Zeppelin instead of Heart), check out Led Zeppelin Kashmir Celebration Day. It's my favorite version of that song - absolutely everything you ever wanted from live Zep - not to be missed!
Brings all sorts feels and memories, and I never tire of watching others view this video. Much respect for your emotions, sorry to hear about your dad, take care.
No one who's familiar with this legendary band can't appreciate how much this honor means. To look at these great musicians, looking so distinguished at this stage of life (and knowing what hell-raisers they were in their youth); knowing how much great music they gave us - it's just so moving watching their reactions. Plant, holding back tears, Jimmy, looking like a proud grandfather at one moment and a exuberant, joyous kid the next - it's everything! And you, so moved by this that it made you tear up, made me tear up! I've only seen a few of your reactions at this point, but you seem to have a lovely, sensitive soul and I love how much you appreciate the music. Subscribed!
Appreciate the emotion. I watch these often and as a drummer, love that Jason played on this. It’s so good and Robert feels all of this as you can tell.
I saw the guy who played lead guitar in a concert with Graham Nash and a pianist. Just three of them - absolutely brilliant. Lots old CSN songs and his own compositions
I dig that you show and share your emotions. Keep on, keepin’ on brother. This was just one segment of their honors. You should check out the entire part!
Nobody gets their Jimmy Page on better than Anne. You can tell he was a big influence on her when you watch her. It's great to see musicians enjoy someone else playing their music. No egos at all.
Jason played with zep in 2007 in London. When tickets went on sale the website crashed as over 20 million tried to get tickets. I see tommy album is back.. lol The back up band is great. When Roger and Pete got honored at Kennedy center couple years prior there was blues singer that did great version of love reign ovr me
Shane Fontayne was the lead guitarist who pulled off doing that solo in front of Jimmy Page, which was probably nothing short of terrifying. Among many other artists, Fontayne has worked with Graham Nash in recent years.
About 10 years ago my daughter & I were given tickets to a Heart concert in SF and apparently the Jason Bonham Band was the opening act We were close to the stage and as a drummer I walked up to the stage before it started to look at Bonham’s set. Wile talking to who I thought was a really nice insightful roadie It dawned on me it was Jason Bonham just hanging out in front 😂. Super cool guy
They got together late summer of (1968) & broke up in September of (1980), sadly when John Bonham passed away, they knew he couldn’t be replaced. Actually it was understood, if anyone quit or passed away, the band was done none could be replaced.
I just read a few days ago they were going to get Barry Barlow ,of the original Jethro Tull band to be the new drummer, but decided not to get back together. He would have been a great choice. Bhonam said Barlow was the best drummer to ever come out of England.
@@williambaldridge1203 I think Jimmy would really love to get back together, I think it’s Plant that doesn’t want to. I wish they would for some concerts, while the three are still alive.
I really enjoyed this reaction too. Most people react to the same songs. Idk if it's a formula or what, but The 5th Dimension, 'Working On A Groovy Thing' is one of my favorites by them. It's fun and uplifting. It might even make you dance. 😉🤗
Only the coolest president watching the coolest band ever. It's OK crying...I've watched this probably 30 times and I cry every frickin time. Who else thinks the solo guitar guy looks like Sheldon? ❤😊
Letterman was MC that night and Led Zep came on his show later for a good interview. The Wilson sisters knew how to write a good tune but they def covered Stairway well, nice choice
Ah, thanks, it's been a few years. Search "Led Zeppelin meets Elvis" when u-tube inevitably removes this link for interview. Nice touch when JPJ gets the first chair ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HA1gytJDo_E.html
Awww **Beautiful Reaction** & Aww i **Luv** that it got ya emotional i doubt ANY true hardcore lover of **MyBelovedMagicalGeniusLedZeppelinBabez** would NOT get emotional hearing & seeing this! & also sorry but your sorry thing reminded me a bit of the movie **Leon** and or **The Professional** where he is telling her to stop saying "Ok" all the time & she answers with "Ok" heh YOU are a **BeautifulBeingLee** **ManyPixieHugz&Luvz** to YOU & Your **Father** **MuchLuv**
This & the original has made many men & women cry, it’s a beautiful song, having emotions is a really good thing. Heart are the only others to pull this song off, nobody does it like Led Zeppelin though.
That not my first communication with you my friend, but it is fun to write to you for to letting know to you, this reaction was ones of your best. Your best reaction, because it was easy from your words, to understand that you was willing to let the sensitivity of your subconscious express the depths of your being about those Stars of LZ. That so cool to see occasionally a man expressing for real his person about what he live at the instant of his living. Your appreciation, and tears concerning yours idols are respectful because the are real. Merci, and my words from my french language, sorry for my English writing, continue your project, you doing it is with a lot of personality close to your intellectual, bravo et merci 👍Daniel
Zeppelin was always special to me, this is a great tribute. My brother was killed in a car back in 86. His band covered a lot of Zep because he could do Plant like nobody I ever heard. Dio and Geddy Lee too. He got me into Zep at age 8 and I grew up with them giving me hope through the growing years. I think of Jeff every time I see something he would have loved. I feel you man. thx
Oh, I hope it's the full version. There is a clipped down version out there that at least one host I subscribe to played by accident. Watching Jimmy get so excited with a huge smile and seeing Robert almost come to tears was so moving. John was his laid-back cool self as usual. Would have LOVED to have been there myself. Seeing familiar faces in the audience was fun to. For instance you may notice comedian Steve Colbert and singer Bonnie Raitt to name a few. Obviously noticeable is former president Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle. Look for more!
NIce reaction, I have mentioned on your page about Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. This year Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience performed and of course Warren played with them and vice versa. If you ever get a chance to see Jason Bohnam that's a show you don't want to miss!
The President and First Lady always host the Kennedy Center Honors - except Trump, because of the pandemic one year and who knows why the others. You should look for the full show on RU-vid, the emcee was Jack Black. This is an incredible cover. It's the layering; simple acoustic, add synths, soloist, orchestra, then chorus. More guitars, insane drumming, and why not the full choir in Bonham bowlers?! Look at the audience. From YoYo Ma to Bonnie Raitt, and how I wish I'd been there. Even up in the nosebleeds it must have been something that would sustain you for the rest of your life.
Trump couldn't care less about art(ists) - he would have hated being a part of it. Plus he knew his attendance would create tension and cast a pall over the event. That's why.
