both bikes are 2014 drz400sm models. the black one has a fcr 39 with jd jetting, 3x3 mod, E cams and athena big bore kit. the white one has a JD jet kit, 3x3 air box mod and yoshimura Rs2
I get excited every time I hear a DRZ start up. It was my first bike and my buddy who showed me how to ride had one too so we ripped around with MRD shortys. Good times.
How much faster is your DRZ after adding the 440 big bore, pumper carb, pipe etc., in comparison to your buddy's piped DRZ? Have you timed either of the bikes 0-60 before and after mods for instance? My DRZ is piped/jetted. Just wondering if it's really worth it for me to go any further with mods in the future.
Uncle Robb what 440 kit do you have on the black sm? I have a cylinder works 440 with hotcams but I still don’t have that kind of throatiness. Do you think changing the header or going with a full system would change the sound much?
Been thinking about getting an MRD finally. I bought an fmf prematurely for my drz but with stage 2 cams and 440 big bore with a 39mm Lectron carb the fmf can’t push enough exhaust. Which route would you go for extra performance? Yoshi or MRD?
From my understanding mrd will support a bigger motor and upgrades. If the 440 is as far as you are going to go with the motor either one will be ok. The yoshi will be quieter. And imo a little better quality. The mrd is a great pipe as well but will definitely be louder.
I'm debating my next move to gain more speed. I feel like the California emissions is keeping me under 74mph. I have a 2020. I had a 2012 model with a vance & Hines slip on that smoothly reached 90... They added so much emissions restriction to this model 😭🥴 Tell me about your freeway experience. Is a pipe enough? Was thinking about doing full yoshi exhaust. Yoshi said I shouldn't need a jet since I'm in LA. Appreciate any feedback from all of you!
I don't see why you're struggling to get past 74, something can't be right..I'm in SoCal too and I have a 2018 that I just picked up with 300 miles on it and on the ride home I was able to hit 95 (for a short period) lol. Does it LIKE going above 60? No, not at all. But can it? Definitely. That being said, I'm about to go full MRD, 3x3, JD jet and some slightly taller gearing so this baby can do more than just take me around town lol.
@@muscleandimports it'll go about 80 but at 74 it sounds like it's compressed. Do you have this big charcoal filter on the side? Dealer told me they upped the emissions on the 2020. It's irritating. I'm going to get an exhaust anyway. I'll have the non dealer shop look at it. It also hits reserve after 0.9 gallons is used... I never had these issues with my 2012.
@@christinapage7394 shoot maybe that charcoal canister is it! I don't think I have it on mine, but where exactly is it located? Yeah you definitely shouldn't be hitting reserve after only .9. Mine hits res at 1.7/1.8. Might want to look into deleting all that California compliance crap lol.
