Most guys (myself included) will want the manual. I would focus more time on that until the rest of the swap kit is sorted. The DSG option would be cool later down the road, IMO.
I am so stoked. I’m literally going along with you to track my status for my cayman. I’m finishing up a few other projects along side, but keep up the amazing work.
I look forward to seeing this completed. The old open block deck is a huge failure point on some Porches. I have a good friend who’s an engine builder, with that issue. I’m love him to do a full built 2.7L Honda.😂
As someone who daily drives a golf with the DQ250 and a big porsche fan I cant wait to see this thing completed..... and just to be curious...... Are you alluding to eventually K swapping a 4S??? AWD porsche swapped with a DQ250 and im sold!!!!!..... what a Bullet proof beast it would be!!
I’ve been wondering about this swap for decades. I always wanted to use the stock 986 transaxle but there’s no way there’s enough room for the engine. Never thought about just turning it 90 degrees 😂. I assume you’re going to design mounts for a stock Honda 5 speed as well? I have no desire to use a DSG
How much does this trans weigh? Theres a couple potential donor options for a DCT, they make a massive difference on shift times but the exyra weight can be a complication since most K platforms are on fwd chassis... The dct from Mitsubishi is very capable, compact, yet finnicky, coming in at 99 kilos and AWD capable. Built by the right shop, they can support 600 wtq, but at that point its no longer a budget option.
Love the video bro been trying to search kswap motors with vw gti trans I hav 06 gti and wanna to swap it to kseries is there a way u can let me kno info in where u got adapted plate name of company if possibletganks..keep up the work look forward on more content
It’s AMAZING what technology has allowed to be possible!!! This guy is making a K swap easier to do to a Porsche…. Another dude just fabricated up a hand build S550 AWD Mustang…. There’s another guy mating up BMW DCTs to LS motors that should be able to function with any sports car with a LS motor.
I'm 6'2 on the dot you'll fit good in the Cayman don't worry. I think you would have to be maybe 6'5+ and wearing a helmet (for track days) to have some issues with headroom
I think after about 350 foot lbs the DSG FACTORY computer locks you out… you could probably go higher on stock clutch and internals but I’d imagine 450 torque would REALLY be pushing it…
