In this video I talk about how I select my camera setting based on the outdoor available light.
Instructions:
Aperture Mode Settings. You can do this in Manual mode as well.
#1 First set the ISO (for a Sunny day, pick lowest ISO, for cloudy start with ISO400)
#2 Select aperture or f/stop # (your desired depth of field) Group shot or solo portrait?
#3 Focus to see if shutter speed is fast enough
- If Shutter speed is fast enough, take the picture
- If shutter speed is not fast enough then increase the ISO to get to desired shutter speed OR open up your aperture to get to fast enough shutter speed.
#4 If you're ISO is already too high and shutter speed is just shy of "minimum shutter speed" then see if you can open up the aperture
Note: If your ISO is 100 or 200 and you're not getting fast enough shutter speed then you either open up your aperture OR increase the ISO to get faster shutter speed.
