My dying grandpa gave me and my brothers 100 dollars each. My dad and stepmom made us give them the money to buy us our christmas gifts. DSP lack of being funny has nothing to do woke-ism. He's just not funny in the slightest, ever. There's a RU-vid channel I watch. Called TheDoo. His group makes fucked up jokes. Racial stuff, homosexual jokes, etc. He has over 6m subs. The difference between him and Phil, is that their jokes are actually FUNNY. You can get away with it if you're actually funny, which Phil is not.
Dark humor hasn't gone anywhere. It will never go anywhere. But Phil is one of these hacks who thinks "dark humor" just means "racism". Gotta adapt with the times, and you gotta work with your audience. If the room is telling you your joke isn't funny, then it isn't funny. If you can't adapt to the tastes of your target audience, guess what? You're a shitty performer.

Exactly. I used to watch him back in the day whenever I was too poor to get some new release, since I knew he’d have footage on day 1. Nowadays, day 1 footage is not impressive in the least, there’s not “Day 1 views” to be had unless you’re already a big creator.

Most people who get lucky and do this for a job start with a few viewers and move up from there. DSP worked backwards and started with a lot and wittled his way down to 100 or so regards that white knight for him. Its sad.

IMO Phil is starting to realize he's on a sinking ship of a channel. Several whales have left over the past year, No real growth in his channel besides detractors especially after Side Scrollers and being memed on TikTok/Twitter for being trash at TOTK, the Argentian memberships have made him lose at least 1k a month from memberships, plus due to inflation and the increase of taxes in his area its costing him more into his already declining revenue. Now couple that with him having to pay enough to the feds and state for tax time to avoid trouble while also having enough to pay for his vices. It's not surprising he has been pulling every card he has to beg for cash (Bringing back Kat after 5 years, rebranding a channel to reupload old playthroughs, making a react channel, talking about making a 4th channel for politics etc)

Has anyone else basically never seen a single minute of Dave actually playing a game? Like I’ve seen a few negative highlights, but I’ve spent years watching this man talk about his content, and I don’t think I’ve actually seen more than an hour of it collectively

I also like how the person he was responding to said "your content puts me to sleep", but he claims his content has "evolved". @6:50 the problem with Phil's "honest" takes on ANYTHING is that they are mostly guided by ignorance or naivety. A lot of the time (for gaming anyway) he doesn't understand the mechanics of a game so he'll call it "bugged game mechanics". So he'll sit there and trash a game over something he perceives as bad, but in reality he just doesn't understand it, or he overlooked a key clue that would have guided him to the next step. I'm pretty sure he has done this to Balder's Gate 3.
It was kinda mean of me to write that it had to be sad but I'm only one of many that thinks this. I was looking forward to seeing how he does with bg3 but couldn't last 2 minutes without yawning. Even him raging doesn't help.
