This is a video on Al Shindagah tunnel connecting Bur Dubai with Deira. The Consultant was Halcrow, UK. I am proud to be a staff of this great Company during 2012 onwards. Now it is part of Jacobs Group of USA. I have done the undersea tunnel connecting Jumeirah with the Palm Island. The Consultant was Parsons, USA, another great Company. I worked in Oman during 1981 as engineer in SATCO. My owner Yacoub Mohammed Gharib, a Zanzibari Omani died in the nineties in a road accident. Miss him. He was one of the best men.
Strewth, was that me sitting in the Halcrow design office! I certainly remember the (non-airconditioned) dark green Hillman Avenger cars we had. Hot? Cook eggs on them in summer.
Oh dear. You might want to re-phrase that... It comes across as a smidge anti-Filipino. A touch racist in the reading. Just an observation. But yes, an interesting time gone by.

@@yondubai2192 And now the Arabs are paying the US to look after them from Iran's attacks. I'm quoting Trump: "if we don't look after them (KSA), they won't last for two weeks." 😂😂😂
This tunnel has been opened in 1975. That itself makes Dubai more than a thought in 1975. Other major developments such as Jebel Ali port, Dubai Drydocks etc. were also commenced at this time. (In fact, the rulers thought ahead of their time. When opened in 1983, Dubai Drydocks had a dry dock 500m long, i.e. half a kilometer and no ship of that length existed on that day.)
what are you talking about? 70s was a big boom period in Dubai. I think you must be only talking about New areas of Dubai, which have been built in the last 15 years or so
