I've been searching for offroad reviews of this bike for a while. This one is the only one rips it up. Everyone else is puttering along on gravel roads.
Great display by Dylan if the dirt ability of the Sled. Some of us love Ducati motorcycles, the ride feel, there EASE of maintenance, and remember their Dakar wins on the Elefants (and own one of those). I want one. I've test ridden one. Great engine feel and the suspension is pretty dialed in from factory.
Why doesn’t anyone reviewing this bike comment on the horrible foot peg ergos, The rear peg bracket jabs you in the ankle and the exhaust is directly in the way of your right heel. Also its so wide at the pegs that they jab you on the inside led at a stand still.I love this bike and hate that Ducati would send it out like this!!
a mounth ago I bought brand new desert sled, after 6 thousand km 5% offroad the rest 95% regular riding, clutch is dead....!! any comment on this????!!!! do U think its normal for Ducati because I'm seriously consider to switch to other brand, too bad because I like it a lot
Could this be set up to run a Baja 500 or the desert hare races we have in Arizona. I recently sold my KX 500 and have been looking for a dual-purpose bike since. Looking for something that has good street manners but can also be ridden hard in the desert. I like the look of the desert sled.
Yea Ohlns makes an adventure read for the Sled, i’ve heard it’s a game changer. However i’ve got 1000 miles off road on mine. With tkc80’s and 20psi you can really jam 🤘
fw1421: I sort of agree with you. But that’s the way everything is going today. You can’t get away from the march of technology and I’m sure when the original XT 500 came out a lot of old timers should have bemoaned the fact it was going to be overhead cam not overhead valve. And... if you got a KTM dedicated dirt bike it would be more expensive than the sled.
I just test rode this bike, it was on my list as a potential adventure bike after attaching bags etc but... it feels like a sloppy, heavy pig and tough to turn in. Cool looking bike yes, but defiantly not for me
I have a 1977 xt500 I bought in the crate, I bought this duck from my 70th birthday, every muscle in my body hurts, my arms are 3in longer, this thing is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Don't ride one you'll buy it! I've had Thumpers all my life, this one's the best.
i rode one today at the shop and guess what.. i bought it.. i was going to get an icon.. but this thing just kept calling my name... the icon scrambler seems to small my body size.. plus they had the black edition sled.. couldnt stop looking at.. what william says.. if you ride it and look at it next to all the other scramblers you will end up buying it, like i did ;)
so your "pro rider" wears blues jeans and a flannel shirt which is what guys of his generation wore as "motocross" gear...next time let your grand kids take the bike for a spin
