Thanks for a great vid. So much effort to make these! The RU-vid algorithms look like they have finally kicked in for you. Hopefully they have seen your great content for the last 12(?) months and will start rewarding you with even more views! What led me here were the key words Pyrenees and Ducati. I too did that trip last year - 2200 miles on my Multistrada, the one with the uncool panniers lol!

Hello A C - thank you so much for your kind message. Yes it is an effort to make them (countless weeks probably!)... but I consider them 'timeless', once I've posted the vid it will be useful for the bike market for years to come... I'm really chuffed with getting to 1K subscribers, feeling confident that I might have an audience for my efforts. High five to the Pyrenees! Multistrada is a great bike for that trip, wasn't a bad looker either, even with the plastic suitcases ;). We had buddy on a Multistrada and he let me ride it, great for distance and comfort and pretty nimble in the twisties! Hope you enjoy my future vids & best wishes, Lara :)

Hi Lara that was a great well balanced review on a great SuperSport bike, I’ve had mine almost 2 years now and use it as a 2nd (sunny days) bike. My main ride is the F850GS. Agree on everything you said especially the engine heat. I still smile when I take it out of my garage as it’s a beautiful bike. Hi Lara, after seeing this bike right after it´s launch in 2016 I had to change my decision away from a BMW towards the Supersport S. I‘ve got the bike in July 2017 and was driving now about 36.000 km and about 90% in the Alps ( I live in Bavaria at the bottom of the Alps, right at the border to Austria and even close to Switzerland, so it‘s a paradise for Bikers ;) ) So after this 2 years, I can only confirm, that this bike is sensational! Although I‘m 93 kg and 190 cm tall, I‘ riding 7-8 hours with absolutely no problem, even with package or a bigpack, etc. You nearly see this bike very

@pab9081
@pab9081 4 года назад
@@bobbyuykim Hi Bobby, not really, at least nothing noticable. Could be, because I‘m very actively moving my weight on the machine, so I‘m changing my position permanently, when it‘s curvy. As well as the position of my feet. But also on „normal“ trips, which are most of the time about 300-350 km I normally never have any problem with discomfort. What is absolutely great as well is the saddle. So no worries, you will have no problems and enjoy this fantastic bike! Hope, that helped! Stay seated :-)

Hey bobby! I had a few aches in my shoulders (I'm 5'10') but thats just me not relaxing when I'm riding. If you have no discomfort after 5 hours of riding I'd be impressed, I'm sure a few niggles would be likely! The saddle is pretty plush - I move around a lot like PA B below too :)

Laramoto hi Lara I asked the question since I’m planning to get 1 of this I come from a bmw rninet racer with helibars still aggressive but not as much anymore. But mostly I find discomfort at the back of my knees when riding more than 2 hrs. And also the suspension of the rninet is not meant to be ridden more than 2 hrs. I’m hoping it’s lot better in the ss can’t wait to get mine thank you

This is a brilliant video, thank you for the points raised. Would love to hear any ideas for mods you would recommend. I’m coming from a Street RS to the Supersport S, cannot wait for the fairing and engine heat....those will be most welcome in the Scottish weather :) thanks chum, stay safe.

Hello! Thank you for writing. We sadly had our North Coast trip cancelled, would have been my first ride up to Scotland. Hopefully we can go again as I would love to see what all the fuss is about. You'll enjoy the engine heat, its very comforting. Except when the weather is v. hot.... Mods wise I think I've listed most in the vid. Bigger bubble screen, carbon nose guard and if you like the looks, the Akro pipes and a remap to match. ££££! You'll find the ride so different from a smooth triple to a torquey double, less screaming and more thumping :)

Such a great review. I noticed that the front body cover extends quite close to the gear and brake levers on either side of this beautiful bike; did you find yourself struggling for some toe room especially while going up and down the gears? Loved your review of the Yamaha MT -10 as well. Hoping to see a lot more of your reviews. Best regards from Kathmandu.

@Laramoto
@Laramoto 5 лет назад
Hello bjmartin! Thanks for watching! I've fitted the Evotech brake and clutch levers because they look better than standard. Other than the normal Ducati rattle, I've not had to tighten anything up yet - it seems solidly built so far. I did keep an eye on the oil though, 400ml top up on the trip. The SS has longer service intervals than its V4 counterparts so another super benefit :)

Hi Lara, Great video! The Pyrenees are on my bucket list. I used to own a 1997 VFR750. I miss the sound of that engine and exhaust. And the wind protection of the nose. I’ve had a Supersport S for two years and absolutely LOVE her! I ride on the weekends on Northern California roads - primarily Hwy 1. She is a blast! The L-twin engine torque is perfect for the twisties! I also don’t like panniers so I went with Ventura Rack. I use their small bag for local rides and the larger Aeropack for overnight rides. Easy on-off like panniers and it keeps the bike skinny for lane-splitting. I like the small pack for local rides because it keeps the water off my back. Ducati designed this bike for dry roads only. Water gets everywhere! I’m going to watch your review of the Yamaha MT-10. Love the sound of that engine! Ride safe! Izzy

I'm seriously thinking about buying the bike and I don't like, even for a second, loosing back seat for luggage. Woudl you recommend any type of panniers? I saw the original ones, but they don't look big enough for 2 people. Thanks. Greetings from Portugal.
@Laramoto
@Laramoto 4 года назад
Hello Joao! Thanks for commenting 👍 - so the panniers don’t fit with my Akro silencers. If I had the original exhaust fitted I’d probably get hard panniers. Lower CoG, less faff, more robust. I think you could have a pannier each of you packed light and washed your clothes 🤗 - the Ducati ones look the best I think. Greetings from the UK 🥰

@Laramoto 3 года назад
Hello Paul! Thanks for watching the video 💪 reliability wise, my SS has never missed a beat so it’s solid. It has a wet weather mode, but a relatively skinny fairing so not much protection. Heated grips recommended and the seat gets toasty which is amazing in winter. The DucatiSS sometimes have false neutral problems so keep an eye out for that. It’s a much better looking bike (IMHO) than the Kwak, but it’s going to feel like a lumpy twin rather than the Z900. People will talk to you about the SS when you park it up! 😀🥰

Great review, I am really keen on this bike. From a luggage perspective, I would take advantage of the panniers option for the Supersport, although I see you probably can't with the underseat pipes. I actually don't think the panniers look too bad when on the bike but the frame they are mounted to is awful and very 90s and I think that Ducati should do a much neater solution. Your setup with the tailpack is reminiscent of the approach many superbike riders take, but each to their own I guess. How do you find the mirrors?

Would love to, if the funds are there to wrap in yellow vinyl cos I love old yellow Ducatis

Super grateful for your feedback Justin! It was great in all roads - just needed to drop her into the hairpins a bit harder than an adventure bike :) Great to hear that you're joining the club! The forum is a friendly place too. I love the Akros, really bring the bike to life and a bit less like a sewing machine. Belly pan is a good shout to tidy up the bottom. Some people aren't keen on the twin pipes under the seat tho, makes it a bit cafe racer rear and sporty front - but its worth it for the noise (and the weight saving!). Yellow would be RADICAL - send photos if you do it!

@duc9395 4 года назад
Just be aware that ducati initially recalled the bike to add a heat shield on the rear header. With the Akra pipes that heat shield does not fit. So the pipes themselves are under seat mounted which adds heat, but also you end up missing the heat shield. Just something to consider. I learnt that after I bought mine with the Akra pipes and it was soooooo much hotter than the one I test rode with standard pipes and heat shield fitted. People who bought the standard model with the Sachs rear shock had issues with their rear bump stop melting from the rear header. Great bike, I love it. But very unreliable quickshifter. I'm on my third and it's become unusable. Love the way it handles and comfort though.

Lara: A wonderful video, thank you. Probably the best review I've seen and it's also refreshing to see a woman reviewer for a change. If I may: Your opinion is NOT biased. No one has influenced you or paid you. Rather, it's subjective as all opinions are. But unlike most, yours is informed and is more than mere opinion: it's a judgement based on some 2000 miles of very serious riding as well as years of riding other bikes that give you a basis of comparison (this is the old academic in me talking). Meanwhile: I ended up going with the Streetfighter 848 (better deal on a used one) but I think my heart is with the Supersport, so time will tell! Warm wishes and safe riding.

I agree with everything you said about the bike. The bike is at home on big sweeping turns. Not as much so on smaller canyon turns. I love the characture if the bike. Love the engine. The stabilty. How it holds its line on the big sweeping turns. I love the looks and the sound of the bike. But the bike doesnt like being below 3000 rpm. So in very slow stop and go city traffic where you are in first gear at one and two thousand rpm. Stopping and starting. The bike is not at all injoyable to be on which i found out tonight. Plus the engine heat in slow traffic. So there are definetally better bikes for city traffic. Other than that i really love my SuperSport.

@laramoto, From this nice review I can guess that you are a racer through and through. Am I right? Anyway, you forgot one important point: Few people live in canyon or near a track or near twisty roads where they can really enjoy the ride as you described it. Compared to a Street Triple or a Yamaha MT9 or another naked bike, how is your Supersport in slow traffic (30m/h) in town? Is it unrideable under 20-30 m/h like some Ducati? I understand that the Supersport is enjoyable only if the revs are above 5,000, otherwise it is jerky. Is this true? Can you commute on this your bike in town like on a Street Triple? Otherwise, great video. Keep up the good work.
@Laramoto
@Laramoto 2 года назад
Hello Aimé! Thanks for your comment and yes, you guessed right - I am a racer! I appreciate the reality check that not many are near epic roads. The bike is easy enough to ride through cities and traffic, its pretty slim and you feel high enough to see things. Its smooth enough for a big L twin and I don't find it jerky, just need some decent clutch/throttle control. The worst issue is the temperature, it gets hot when its not moving much. I'd be happy, and have, commuted on my SS, but a Street Triple is probably a better commuter as there is less fairing to clean and its even more upright with wider bars. And being a lovely triple, it will be super smooth!

I currently ride a Triumph Daytona 675. It's not ideal for commuting duties so I'm looking at the 2021 Supersport or the Aprillia RS660. Have you ridden the standard Supersport? Do you think it's worth spending the extra for ohlins suspension?
@Laramoto
@Laramoto 3 года назад
Hello Simon! Thanks for commenting - I'll try and help! The 675 is a brilliant bike but probably quite sharp for a commuter, I see your issue. I have not ridden the standard SS and happier that I've got the Ohlins on mine, but I do use my SS for more aggressive track and I bottom out the forks anyway. I'm sure the standard ones are perfectly fine for commuting life. The SS is big displacement bike for commuting, and arguably, quite an expensive bike to commute on, relatively? I use mine for track days, posing and touring and don't bother riding her the 15 mins to work (probs going to get an electric bike for that). The Aprilia is going to be a great all rounder too.... but commuters need to be a bit rough around the edges for me, so I don't worry about warming them up or leaving them in the back of a car park. Guess it depends on how long your commute is and how much you want to smile on a big ole thumpy twin.. or just get a simple jap inline 4 and ride it to bits ;)
@scarr998
@scarr998 3 года назад
@@Laramoto my commute is just over an hour on a mix of country roads and occasionally motorways. I previously did it on a CBR500r but it was revving to high at motorway speeds. I can only have one bike so it has to do everything, I only do the commute 2 days a week now, instead of 5, so I need something with a grin factor. I test road a CBR650r which was a good bike but it was completely missing the grin factor for me. I have narrowed it down to the SS or the RS660 and will test ride them in summer.

Having gone to measure my inseam, its a generous 32 inches. The great thing about the SS is that you can get a lower seat and adjust the pre-load at the back, so plenty of height play! And if you need a shorter spring, there are aftermarket options. I'm not sure on the GSX seat height. The SS would make a great alternative to an Ninja 650, but not sure I would own both as they are both essentially sports tourers? I'd like some variation in my dream garage! heheh
