I can't even imagine what this would cost. So glad my property has a actual pond on it already for my ducks 😂

We brought our pekins out the second week we had them on nice days and made sure to stay out with them. There were some days when they were close to develop feathers but didn't have them yet, when it was below 60F and I put them on the front porch with their heat lamp on one end and a box on its side on the other. They rarely sat under the lamp on those days. I had them outside full time on nice days before they were fully feathered, still yellow. They were too big to keep in the house any longer. They are fully feathered and 2 1/2 months old now. They are fantastic about bed time and follow me to their pen around dusk (trained them easily with peas). They often will head to bed on their own without me if I'm not ready when they are 😆. They love to follow me around when im outside and sometimes will stand outside the window and call me when they want me outside. Its adorable :-) They seem to follow my voice cause I'll hear them outside a window I'm standing next to and looking in waiting for me.

This is a big project and an expensive one but it makes all ducks happy🦆🦆

What is done in the winter months? Does the pond need to be emptied or shut down, if so how is this done? Ducks leave A LOT OF FECAL MATERIAL in a pond. My understanding is that you typically need some sort of pre-sludge filter upstream of your pond filter. Can you discuss how the filtering system for this pond works and what sort of maintenance is needed to keep this pond up and running?

it's painful to see ducks being dry-raised (in a coup with no ponds). They are different from chickens in that they need lots and lots of small water bodies. This pond looks like a paradise for them

How do you keep the chickens out because they'll fall in and drown? That happened to a couple of mine with a small pond for a gold fish. I had to fence it off.

If you live in my state your property value just went up along with you land and school taxes. But looks nice.

How do you keep their yard so clean?!

Are there fish that can live with the ducks, cleaning the pond, and maybe farmed for eating (like say Tilapia, catfish etc...)?

Mike, I have a pond about a quarter the size of this and in the summer the algae takes over and I need to change out the water monthly. How do you control algae?

Nice pond, but you should really consider top netting to keep your ducks contained.
