Dude...I've been MISSING OUT with Mortal Kombat 9! 

Been trying to find some online groups to play MK9 but haven't found much :(

It felt almost like the SNES MK, especially watching it, they got much better at graphics and interaction but the gameplay got worse and the animations are still ass in later games.

I feel like they damn near nailed the visual aesthetic for modern MK in this game. The more realistic art direction in the sequels just doesn't hit the same.

I often say SF4 and MK9 reignited the fighting game genre.

Every MK after this felt derivative of this game. It is a great game, the best of the new era but since then the games including injustice have all had this samey feel to them. It makes you question how mortal kombat is going to continue forward.

Yup. The track at the stage with the magma and the MK logo is pretty iconic. Mortal Kombat's soundtrack has been pretty much dead since then.

Yeah I only noticed the MK movie music on the one stage in 11. Armory from 9 is still GOATed

It's funny that the 2 stages in mk11 where music is noticeable is the arcade one with the mk theme And the throwback one with mk1 2 and 3 music

The Subway and Armory are amazing tracks.

if MK12 was MK11 graphics (or better) with MKX's living towers but with MK9's feel and fluidity and had a fat roster of classics with some 3d era characters sprinkled in? It would be perfect.

​@@NoiseFetish I think MK12 also should expand on a new roster. While All the classics should be there, I think MK12 being essentially a reboot narratively, it should try to make actual good new additions. Again, I want every classic character back, but I also think there should be an expanded roster of new we characters that can do something new. IMO, it'd be a waste for MK12 being a universe reset with Liu Kang as Earth realm's God only for it to be nearly identical in characters. The issue with recent MK games is that it really does give the new characters the short end of the stick in terms of writing

@@NoiseFetish Definitely agree about some more characters from the 3D era. Always kind of afraid that characters from that era will just fade out of MK because they're not the most "popular" games but there were some fun characters in there for sure.

We just need remasters of this, Trilogy and Deception(Unchained) and all of the MK fans will be happy.

Sad part is outside of Max and maybe ketchup and mustard. No one talks about the 2Ds anymore. You have to actually go dig for them :(

You are correct haha! None of the subsequent modern MK games nailed the fun as much as this one. As of about 2 years ago when we brought it back, I still play it regularly with friends even after all this time.

Sorry to burst yo bubble buds but the only way you will see a change if we as a community say something.

i’m gonna bring something up real quick: smoke is in mk1 and it definitely looks like mk11 in terms of graphics but it really *feels* like mk9/10

I was referring to how the characters having cuts and wounds appearing on them the more they get hit.

I enjoyed variations but yes i hated how some cool stuff was locked on a variation i didn't like. MK11 is just wack mess.

Shame on NRS/WB games for not only shutting the servers down, but doing it quietly that most didn't even notice until it was too late. Freddy Kruger contract or not, what a dumb reason to takedown a game that reignited the franchise.

The netcode was pretty bad tho
