1986 i lived in dumbarton for about a half a year. i loved the town and i have great meories with it and i hope iwill see the town once again. lots of greetings to the people in dambarton
That was an enjoyable video.Brought back some memories. Good to see my old haunt Waverley Bar there, and that Sydney Devine song was my old mothers party piece. Well done
I went on my holidays there after we moved to NI. I loved, and still love the idea of Dumbarton in the 70s. I went back for a visit a couple of years ago, and it had declined, but I still love Dumbarton.
Also lived opposite Babcock & Wilcox & Dewrances (both long gone) - no 21 Glasgow Rd, plymscot, its a different number now. Brother lived in Bellsmyre and it was ok then but Im talking 50 years ago! I went to St Pats - also long gone!
Nostalgia when I watch this video: spent a year there as Frencg language assistant: one of the best years of my life, such lovely people there! and an amazing accent (tough to understanf for the frenchman that I am)
I used to go Keil school, had some happy memories of Dumbarton but thing's seem to have gotten worse since 1988. A real shame, same old story drugs and gangs.
I know these photos are not original because I went to braehead school in dumbarton and we did a photography project and I actually took the picture with the man outside of the coop lol but good video
this is also my hometown and hopefully return one day and brucehill is not the only place wi the junkies and if ythe police would do there fn job it wouldnt be so bad had a lot a great neighbours and friends there and still do
The old photos of Dumbarton are from an era of more or less full employment but like anywhere else take away the jobs and your left with junkiesville. Perhaps a good idea for bringing money into the area would be trips round Brucehill and Bellsmyre, watching the Polis givin punters the jail for no turnin doon shady baw music like the pish that's playin in the background.
