From a car guy who uses NOS for racing, I will tell you that man inhaled a MASSIVE amount of Nitrous The fact that he didn't overdose in the middle of this video literally blows my mind.
imagine this guy is actually an absolute genius and is just being a decoy for his friends to rob some other place while all the cops and swat are distracted
They just come back and bail him out of jail with some of the stolen cash. Bonus, they can have another friend repeat what this guy did and rob/steal MORE money. 1,000,000,000 IQ
This video should be used as evidence for cutting the collective US police budget by about 10x. I can barely imagine any real life scenario where this police response would make sense. A full-scale riot wouldn't require these resources - and if it did that's what the millitary is for. Such a strange country.
Police shouldn't have all this military gear. That's fucking insane. This guy wasn't really a threat to anyone, just some zoned out guy... they could've just arrested him. Cops get told they're in danger and how society is full of violent killers so much that they can't even do traffic stops without panicking and shooting people, then they chase this guy and call the anti terrorist task force. Jesus fucking christ
@@nothankyou how would police budget reduction make this any better? just means you'll have more undertrained morons driving cop cars like this. what you SHOULD do, is increase training requirements and pay for police officers, which would result in a higher national police budget. higher pay means more people would want to be a cop, higher levels of discipline and training would mean each cop is a professional. your solution would just make cities far worse to live in.
this whole thing was like new players learning the controls for the first time, they just pressed every button to see what happens when all they had to do was walk up to the door and begin the cutscene to win
Probably just had a bunch of cops respond and provide assistance when needed. I mean, if there isn't anything else to respond to, they extra units will just go there
@@AChunkyDog lol shut up They used a fuckin DRONE on a dude who was trapped in a dead end, after he'd already been tear gassed twice and allowed to sit there for hours on end while they did NOTHING. This wasn't an "emergency" like an active shooter, it was one dude high on nitrous IN A DEAD END. Lmao I'd hardly call what they did a "response". They literally did everything in their power to NOT respond while making it look like they were by playing w all of their stupid cop toys.
He got so elevated that he started to emit a aura of power so strong they couldn't stay within his presence for prolonged period of time without dying on the dpot
How is it that this very chill and calm chase has much more resources and basically the whole police department here, than the one that literally had a shootout in the middle of the road?
Have you seen the one where the police can’t find the guy for what feels like 30 minutes and the guy is right next to them crouched behind a car in a alley? The commentator is going crazy and it’s hilarious
This had me absolutely dying! They popped their own tires. Meanwhile he's stopping at all stop signs. And taking breaks to get high and talk to them. He's basically Towlie. "Just lemme get a little high, you guys wanna huff this nos?"
@@SirTravis-vn6yp Almost certainly Laughing gas, nitrous oxide like at dentist offices. That's all that balloons are used for. Called whip-its because they are whipped cream gas containers.
American cops are functionally retarded, or they're just doing this to defraud the taxpayer for money from this fake chase. I'm 50/50 on whether it's one of those two options or both.
Growing up I thought that police chases in GTA were unrealistic. The more of these actual chases i see, the more I realise how realistic they are...in USA.
GTA originally started life as a bit of a social commentary on the idea of an American society taken to exaggerated extremes. What the games didn't account for was that reality is often stupider that fiction.
8:30 love how the cops carefully approach then immediately dip from the slightest reaction from the driver like when Imby and Docker Jombes found the Scary Skull in Gus Johnson's channel.
@@nnightkingj If they don't use the expensive stuff on criminals, it's going to be even more dangerous, because at the end, they don't have a choice to respond.
lol he's gotta know by now. Even if he didn't search for it, somebody he knows has had to bring it to his attention ... All seriousness though, him and his team really do a phenomenal job. I love when they superimpose the street names
@@Bomenix14 That's completely untrue as someone whos dad worked admin. It's to make an excuse for their budget. "we spent this many hours in seige and pursuit, GIB US MONEYYYY. "The it's paperwork is an omission of truthg. paperwork to get your budget increases. They copulda easily dragged him out
@@Bomenix14 Totally right you are, otherwise it would just be a simple three stage operation. 1 Get riot shield, pepper spray and Tazer-gun and walk to the window. 2 Overwhelm the dude with all of that crap. 3 Pull him out and drop him on the floor. Done. Tons of resources saved, no time wasted.
@@jofloch9955 I don't understand why they don't use TPAC (Tactical Pursuit and Containment) like we do in the UK. Cops still use the PIT manoeuvre (call it "Tactical Contact" over here) but the preferred method has always been to use 3/4 units to box-in and gradually force the subject vehicle to a stop. It also stops them doing a runner, unless the squeeze out of an open window/sunroof. The only factor I can think of is that in the US the risk of the driver being armed is far higher, so the officers want to maintain some distance?
Jesus christ these videos make me laugh... the pure goofiness of it all and Charlie's commentary is just comedy. Truly feels like these police chases are a new form of entertainment 💀
the fact they sat there for 4 hours, approached the dude 3 or 4 different times and STILL sent out the swat team and drone's just shows whats wrong with this country 😂😂😂
@@jacksiironen294 Do you really trust a police force that gets bullied by a news station? If you're truly competent and doing the right thing it shouldn't matter who says you're wrong.
@@liloak00 It's not the police per-se, it's the public opinion that changes the politician's opinion, which then has to respond and sadly usually caves and ends up taking away or restricting something within the police force.
The most infuriating thing about watching LAPD chases is how completely inept they are at stopping someone during a chase. Not just in this video, but in many, many others, you can see the multiple missed opportunities to stop them. This time they practically had him surrounded and still let him get away.
@KungFuAndrewTV They could have boxed him in at the intersection. That's well trained? They wasted tons of resources, damage to cars, put tons of people in jeopardy. I watch this and just think about the collapse of a nation. This is truly incredible, but I watched with my own eyes. At least they didn't shoot him or beat him up, I'll say that.
It never ceases to amaze me how inept and useless the police are. 30 officers, 20-30 squad cars, a helicopter, and a swat team. All to try to capture one unarmed high af dude in a small pickup truck stopping at stop signs and going 25mph. Absolute lunacy
Honestly, if the police think he doesn't have a gun, but he actually has a gun, someone could die, so wasting time is better than risking getting shot.
I absolutely disagree. This was an exemplary example of how police can get a dangerous suspect with minimal danger to themselves and nearly no danger to the suspect at all, besides the danger he puts himself in avoiding police in a multi-ton vehicle and huffing Nos or whatever. No unnecessary shots fired, no unnecessary deaths, no unnecessary tazing of someone with a heart condition, no beating senseless - just tear gas and a peaceful arrest. Do I think they probably brought too many officers? Yeah. I’m willing to bet that at least 1/4 of the officers there did not add anything to the chase in any significant way. So it could be downsized a bit. But the usual police aren’t going to be carrying high strength tear gas on poles like SWAT does, so those guys were necessary. But the regular police - probably didn’t need ALL of them.
I hope that Charlie considers starting a moist meter series for all of these chases he's been covering lately, he grades and assesses each one with the utmost prestige and calculated wit. An exemplary masterclass observer in the field of car chase reviews.
I like to imagine a scene with the driver and his friend being like “I dare you to get chased by cops and stop and every red light and stop sign while high on ‘helium’” “Dang dude I can’t do that!” “I double dog dare you- no triple dog!” “Ugh fine 🙄”
i love that police interactions are either gently trying to aphrehend people because theyre worried of their surroundings or 12 cops dumping magazines into innocent dudes truck and theres no in between
I don't know; it can go from 0 to 100 real quick. It just depends on the situation. It's all fun and games until someone reaches for the 9 (or attempts to scratch their ball itch).
@@zuglymonster this is a myrh and basically doesn’t happen. Those situations make national news, every time, and then it turns out they had a gun or were otherwise fighting police.
They aren't worried about their surroundings or the suspect in this circumstance. You can see how calm they are in the full footage. It's much different from actual life-threatening stand-offs. They can identify the driver, see that he doesn't have anything dangerous on his record, and don't see him display signs of having a weapon or acting in a way where he is disregarding the lives of others. There isn't anything here that warrants this level of caution. They only stand around and bring out every toy they have so that they can justify owning said toys and MASSIVE amounts of funding. It seems comical because it is. Not saying there aren't times when it is completely justified to be this cautious. It definitely happens. This just isn't one of those times, and it isn't 99% of the time.
i watched this with my family when it happened. literally the funniest shit, just another case of the police force collectively sharing less than one braincell
I like to think he was stopping because they told him to pull over, they did nothing, and then he was like "Oh, I guess they weren't flashing me" kept going, repeat.
time doesnt slow down, its like getting turbo high instantly, dizzy is a closer description to how whippets and laughing gas feels. youre more likely to have a lapse in consciousness and black out, one of the dumbest things to be under the influence of while driving.
Uvalde was a thing. Guy in the building shooting up elementary kids, and the cops just chillin in the parking lot and arresting the parents that wanted to go in and get the guy. Meanwhile, children calling the 911 and asking them to send in the responders because they're being executed in real time. Finally they found some mystical key that opened the door to the one classroom where the shooter was hiding, and at the end of all that they shot him dead anyway. So, if the officers really wanted to preserve life at that time, texas cops did a shit piss atrocious job of it. Some of those kids had to wait in the room with their murdered classmates for literal hours. So the cops always wanna boast about "doing the least amount of harm". Who can say how many kids might've been shot dead, or how many might've been saved. The fact is the kids were in the school getting shredded to pieces by a weapon that should not belong to an unstable civilian, there was a horrendous lapse in communication and training - ONLY ONE *WHOLE WEEK* AFTER A SPECIAL SCHOOL SHOOTERS TRAINERS COURSE FOR THOSE RESPONDERS - and they fucking blew it. It was documented. It was streamed for people to watch. Parents lost their babies on the last day of school. And the fact responders from other countries and cities came forward and said, "There are act orders, when you hear shots you act on that. You don't wait for orders." Because in that moment when the active shooters is culling the target, you're not going to save everyone, but acting and neutralizing the threat is foremost priority. And the fact parents were told, "the active shooter is in there, we can't go in there," is abhorrent. It all came down to none of those 'brave men in uniform' didn't want their face shredded by an Ak-47. They wanted to go home and see their families and be heroes. And no one huffed their bullshit cowardice.
I’ve got it, they are literally just using this chase as a training exercise. Gotta test the resources, make sure they all work. Dude actually helped them out testing their department’s equipment!
@Hunter if this is the type of crime that happens in Cali, goddamn it's safe. I'm actually impressed he drove so well considering all the nos he took.
@Hunter Because the other version isn't a redundant cringe filled copy pasta waiting to happen, type whatever you want, the guy is just letting you know you sound like a loser.
14:14 Love how the guy on the news is talking about the sheriffs "reverence for human life" for their de-escalation tactics while the camera points at an Armored car surrounded by seven dudes in full body armor, and carrying semi automatic rifles. Definitely seems like the situation has not escalated.
“Semi automatic rifles”, brother, just so you know, if it’s not fully automatic, it’s semi automatic. Most Pistols are “semi automatic” too. You don’t have to specify to make it sound scary since every weapon that isn’t lever action or bolt action is semi automatic.
"We need EVERYTHING. EVERYONE. GET THE WHOLE DAMN DEPARTMENT OUT HERE!" Meanwhile, this guy is just chillin and huffin. These genius cops were so confused when he was able to JUST TOSS THE TEAR GAS OUT OF THE TRUCK.
As a person who has lived in Southern California all my life,. These chases happen all the time. Heck even my parents yell at least once a week," COME OVER HERE, THERE'S A CHASE!" and everyone gets excited like we're about to watch the Super Bowl. I didn't see this chase on air, but I saw the other one that was posted to this channel.
Are you perhaps talking about World's Scariest Police Chases on PS1? I think one of the missions was someone hijacking a schoolbus and you were supposed to be as close as possible with your sirens on to psyche them out. God I loved that game as a kid
dude pretty much got the entire police force to show up, i'm surprised they didn't call in the national guard or something, since clearly this supervillain of gas is a very dangerous threat
This reminds me of this swat team documentary I watched where they did a day long standoff with this guy only to realize he wasn’t even in the building.
Instead of pit maneuvering 30 times they should've grabbed a giant stop sign (like what crossing guards have) and just surround him with people holding them so he wouldn't move.
This the chase of the century, the drone at the end was absolutely hilarious, THAT MUCH deployed for a guy in his truck inhaling gas, that's impressive ngl.
If I were from the United States, I would be furious. The whole situation could have been solved so much easier without spending so much tax money. On the other hand, we got a very entertaining video from charlie, so W for us.
There are tons of police schools, and I'm not sure if they all have identical curriculum, so I wonder if that is one of the reasons some of them are so inept (along with the other systematic issues), and some car chases in other areas the cops are more prepared
@@godslittlestidiot2984 Police schools teach the cops to be paranoid that every single potential criminal could be armed with ultra dangerous weapons or chemicals. That constant, irrational fear for their lives is why you see so much of what appears to be inefficiency and incompetence with how police come down on criminals. Either they drag their feet because they're scared they might get injured (Uvalde) or they go insane and act like the actual military (most SWAT raids).
Any other country he would have been apprehended by 2 police officers armed with nothing more than a tool to break his window. This whole video is like some kind of extreme parody. In any sane municipality it would lead to emergency budget hearings.
@@godslittlestidiot2984 Could be the the reason... I think Charlies description brings it to a point, it is really just baffling how inept they pull up with every offcer and armored police car in a 50 mile radius, wait for several hours to do nothing to get this guy and at the end, its literally just a stick and some smoke that gets him out of the car. 😂
This is a really nice change of pace from the last one. Comical and classic, in a low density area, rather than super scary, fast, and dangerous, with lots of people around. I’m only like 5 minutes in, so fingers crossed it stays that way!
