Gotta commend Joey, he had a goal and by God no one was gonna stop him. "Joey, make sure you're not behind the door" and he stood firm in his resolve to be directly behind that door.
They should be banned everywhere, dont bs me with "we all make mistakes/they were drink", if people so dumb, are popular, I guess people watching them are even more so
Interior doors are sometimes seemingly paper thin on both sides, gotta love cheap construction materials, but hey it keeps costs down so I guess there is that.
If you were wondering, ODS heeded Charlie’s advice and put joey back in the closet, shooting the crossbow through the door about 20 more times. Genius. (They also filmed it and put on their channel)
Charlie talking about the ninjas drinking poison always reminds me of the king who did the same thing but he made himself so immune when he got captured he tried to poison himself and lived and died a gruesome death
"Hey, do you think a door would stop a bolt fired out of a medieval weapon of war designed to punch through shields and armor? We should test that out and put someone behind the door" WCGW
If it was a 60lb one hand crossbow, they could have put a loose blanket behind the door and a pillow wrapped in a sweatshirt to stop the bolt after going through the door...don't ask me how I know.
When you bowhunt for deer, if you shoot well the arrow will sometimes pass all the way thru the animal and still have enough force to jam itself in a log or tree. Very powerful
I mean HE DID ask if they were ready again after saying "I Hope hes not directly behind the door, if so I'm not liable" Which SHOULD have been a hint "Probably dont stand EXACTLY behind the door, maybe turn off to the side of the frame? lmao. But that Camera Man was dedicated. Everyones dumb for this for sure, but I would have thought in that moment, maybe I should say "HOLD ON!" and move? 🤣
Seeing if 1,000,000 rocket launcher bazookas and a stampede of rhinoceros and elephants can pierce a closet door. And we got Joey to film it from directly behind the door.
While it was an unnecessary risk I get him being surprised as it would have been super easy to mitigate the risk if his cameraman hadn't been dumb as rocks. He even mentioned how stupid it would be to be standing directly in the way before they shot.
Fun Fact: Being impaled in a manner that doesn't hit any vital organs can create a pathway of scar tissue through the body that can be impaled again without causing harm or any blood loss. While not practical, if the crossbow was made to hit a very specific part of his body every time, Joey could make a living out of being impaled by crossbow bolts
Yeah but vitamin deficiencies and some diseases can make scar tissue deteriorate and cause pain in the area again, pretty much for the rest of your life.
Apparently some people were surprised that the weapon literally designed to punch through metal plate armor and shields, was able to pierce the cheapest pressed wood door.
2-3 mm of steel can stop a crossbow bolt. Just cause they were made to pierce armor doesn’t mean they did. Edit for all the morons getting cheesed over this comment: I’m not trying to argue with whoever, I’m just clarifying the slightly misleading but not incorrect part of the og comment concerning plate armor. Happy?
Not really, considering the crossbow they used probably wasn’t an actual 600lb draw-weight windlass crossbow and thus wasn’t anywhere near as powerful.
@@OmniscientWarrior crossbows revolutionized medieval warfare BECAUSE they were more powerful than bows and could shoot through things that bows could not like shields and armor
As someone who was watching the stream as it happened, they didn't send him behind the door, he went behind there on his own. But that still doesn't answer why he stood directly behind it, why he didn't answer when they asked if he was behind the door, and why they shot without an answer. Also the reason they didn't have a tip of the arrow was because they were shooting a target and didn't want to completely destroy the target, I think
Why shoot a crossbow at a door though? Why shoot a bow indoors at all? My cousin shot me in the hip with a arrow with no tip, but it was from a small worn recurve bow. It hurt like hell but I had asked her to shoot it at me, like a dumbass, because I thought I could catch it. I did grab it by the knock end but only after it hit my hip. It felt like someone took a chip outta my hip bone with a screw driver suddenly. It didn't puncture my skin but my cousin freaked out and refused to shoot at me again, even though I did ask her to try it again. She dropped the bow and ran inside after I asked her to not aim directly at me this time, just a little to the side. 😂
The fact that he actively acknowledges that it could go thru the door while addressing chat, and at the same time is entirely unconcerned that he is behind said door amazes me.
If you listen closely, you can hear the people outside mentioning they don'ot think he would go directly behind it and then says oh well if he does I won't be liable. Lol.
Having watched ODS for years, the fact that a crossbow was the thing that took them down is astounding. After everything they’ve managed to survive through sheer luck, why would they think twice about shooting a crossbow through a door?
@@Jman0163 nah its ilegal to even point in someones direction with unloaded safety triger secured gun and you think a loaded crosbow doesnt count ? HAHA
I think they didn't realize that a closet door is literally made out of hexagonal cardboard sandwiched between two sheets of cardboard with a little bit of paint
What the hell is up with doors in America? I've _never_ seen a door this flimsy _in my life_ where I live... I couldn't even bust through mine like this if I was _trying_ **edit** _Why y'all acting like I'm trying to die on a hill here, I'm just saying I find it weird. I'm not trying to make a statement or something, jeez._ _And honestly, the fact that you're all_ this _incredulous about the idea that doors are stronger than this outside the US kind of proves my point, btw_
@@TrackpadProductions our interior doors are weak but exterior doors are solid. It’s a way for home builders to cut corners in modern homes while still selling at a huge amount in a inflated housing market. But… not all homes are like this in America, older homes are built really well. Like for example old European houses. Just new modern or recently built copy pasta suburban neighborhood houses
Man this channel is like the epitome of OSHA violations I love it. Reice is usually the one getting hurt with the chemical burns from concrete and spraining his ankle jumping in the back of a moving car.
Being an archer (recurve) I have, once in a blue moon, come across someone with a cross bow. I would legitimately retreat upstairs from the range because the sound of the arrow’s collision was like a gun shot. Those bows are powerful. Dude’s beyond lucky.
I think if you asked 7 year old me that was involved in the arms trade of his playground where we made spears, bows and knives from stones and craft items as well as babybel wax Even 7 year old me with the limited knowledge of the shitty none functioning arsenal we assembled I myself could say “This crossbow, without the tip, against THAT door… can only go through it…”
It's a bit tangential but I have to mention it as an archery nerd. Medieval crossbows were WILD, the limbs were spring steel and the draw weight could be upwards of 800 lbs. Imagine if we still used ones like that
I got one. 185lbs compound crossbow, and from what I can tell if I were to shoot someone the arrow would probably exit right trough that person's back and keep flying
@@chucksneed1264 While they had draw weights of over 1000lbs, they didnt actually shoot as hard as modern crossbows of under 200lbs. Old crossbows had very short draw lengths (or powerstroke) like only 4 or 5 inches, while modern ones can have draw lengths of 12 or 15 inches if im not mistaken. Also, compound technology is much more effective at launching an arrow at high speeds than a simple spring. So yeah, even despite the ridiculous draw weight it would have been less severe had they used that.
@@AdamA8 Pretty sure that was just the camera and mic being seperate, so the mic being on the other side of the door probably just couldn't pick up his normal speaking voice. He got louder after getting shot but is still pretty faint.
I never would have guessed that Charlie knew ODS even existed, nice to learn that. This is also the exact kind of thing they would do, but I'm frankly shocked the crossbow defeated them after how many times they've tempted fate with guns and come out victorious. Hope Joey is okay.
@@smilesfordays not even an excuse tho. I’ve always wondered how people get so fucking stupid when drinking, smoking, etc. like I’ve never once got drunk and thought yes I should endanger the people around me today. Dude I shot a fucking gun for the first time while drunk and I had the common sense to keep my trigger discipline and aim the gun at the ground when not aiming at my target.
@@MeatSlap30 no no no, alcohol makes you more yourself. They do dangerous things all the time, but the booze makes them more apt to forget better options or stop themselves. I wasn’t accusing alcohol of making them harmful, stop acting like I insulted your mom please.
I've avidly watched these guys for years. One of the channels where I don't miss an upload so needless to say, I'm not surprised this happened. They microwave loaded guns on their channel
Watching this live was insane. I thought they had the hunting broadhead on when they shot it, and when the stream cut out my mind went to Joey bleeding out on the floor while they drunkenly try to perform first aid and call the ambulance. What a wild night.
This can't have been a premeditated murder attempt without the tip; therefore it must have been a trial run for the premeditated murder attempt next stream!
Was watching the stream with others when this happened, we were all freaked out for a bit cause we werent sure if Joey was ok, but relieved once we heard him
For me as well, I was in chat when it was happening. Everything seemed al fine and on brand until joey went behind the door and I was like 😮. I thought he would move or something.
The most amazing part to me is that he stands DIRECTLY behind the door. Not to the side or sets the camera down, but standings BEHIND the door lol That's like wondering if a bullet will penetrate concrete so you stand directly behind the spot they're going to shoot through
in the update video they start it off with joey looking like he's close up filming them talking but he zooms out and he's like 30 feet back hiding behind the counter. then offers to do it again but hides in a better spot, joey and ODS for jackass crew
You mean like that couple who thought an encyclopedia would stop a bullet so they filmed the wife shooting the husband in the chest at point blank range and they both thought he would live because he had an encyclopedia strapped to his chest? He's dead by the way. This happened 2 months ago max.
This is why I'll never be able to leave the internet. There is no way I would ever be able to witness spectacular lapses in judgment like these. I don't know if it was faith in the engineering of the door, the inebriated decision making, the sheer hubris of the human mind or the individual who, upon hearing his friend that was just shot at with a crossbow and was groaning in pain, decided to ask "you good?" but this stuff will never cease to be hilarious.
I've been following ODS for several years and I thought I've seen it all from taking down their Christmas tree in the middle of summer with a chainsaw indoors to trying save the planet by buying every plastic wrapped thing in existence and CSGO case gambling, but this might be their dumbest endeavor yet.
You're missing the point. The point is don't do reckless things with weapons that are intended to take down large game. A sober person could have done this too
Ironically, this is one of the more safer things they've done with projectile weapons, lets just be glad they didn't pull out the deep fryer and glock again
Lol I loved watching these guys that did this. They even made a follow up video where they don’t apologize and do the same thing again with the crossbow and doors. It was great to watch!
Ive been watching ODS for a while and they are literally known for their bad ideas. Im just surprised it took them this long for something to got south.
Me too! This is the first I'm hearing about it holy fucking shit! Thank fucking god it wasn't with a GUN because they've fucked around with those so much! Holy shit, maybe they'll just be a touch more careful from now on.
ODS actually uploaded a follow up video already. Taking the tip off is what got him hit believe it or not. Joey was off to the side, and it had oddly curving trajectory. If it had the tip on it would have possibly gone more straight through the door. 😂
This is a classic ODS moment. Both hilarious and worrysome. I just sincerely hope that Joey is alright. Its gonna be hard for him to move around with a stomach wound like that especially since he apparently already had his massive balls of steel weighing him down.
No balls, its completely stupid. If you expect the bolt not to go through then there is no point being behind the door. There is no possible outcome that made it worthwhile
It's extreme stupidity. Arrows will fly right through a deer, and closet doors are pretty much made of cardboard. These people have no idea how either work or are made... Very stupid.
its stupid and dangerous, it wouldnt be that big of a deal, if there majority audience wasnt children, also their firearms usage is atrocious to the point im surprised these idiots haven't shot one another.
I can't believe it at 3:17, "Are you actually not good" bro you just shot a crossbow arrow through a door and he's screaming ow OBVIOUSLY HE'S NOT GOOD.
He’s is very lucky that the bolt didn’t have a tip, but he is also EXTREMELY lucky that the shot wasn’t aimed lower…. Otherwise, HIS “bolt” wouldn’t have a tip
I remember going to an archery class at a youth rec center downtown and the instructor told us about a guy who came in with his friend, and was carelessly messing around with his bow after being warned not to. The friend shot the man in the arm by accident and like a couple seconds afterward ran right out the door, never to be heard from again. Was a great class!
after some testing by official duck studios, they have found that it takes around 7 closet doors to stop a crossbow. With joey behind the doors of course.
Ive been watching ODS for actual years by now and i absolutely love them. I am genuinely surprised it took this long for one of them to get shot haha. Joey being the absolute Cutie he is took it like a champ
It’s 3 in the morning and no matter how weird or wacky, Charlie never disappoints with finding the humor in all the many weird things that happens in our weird goofy little simulation
Every time ODS announces a drunk stream I remember that they previously said they wouldn't do any anymore and after this they said it again. Let's see how it works out.
They have done some pretty wildly irresponsible things with way more deadly things than a crossbow. I too am surprised it took this long for something to happen
to be fair, movies always show the thinnest of wood stopping all arrows and ballistics short of a trebuchet. They were probably thinking about that where the hero flips a table just in time to shield himself from arrows coming at him.
