Dumbledore actually gave the cloak to Harry his first year and He also didn't come upon the resurrection stone until later in the books and he was always in possession of the elder wand
Isn't he has the possession of those three at the same time? The cloak is in his possession all this time and at the time when he's ready facing death he has the resurrection stone, and that's after he disarmed Draco Malfoy. Am I wrong?
If you look closely: Rufus Scrimgeour's body language shows that he was paying attention to Harry's snitch since he knew snitches have flesh memories and it contains something
@James Stockdale it's a good theory. The only thing that is proven is: Voldemort tortured Rufus for info and Voldemort's death eaters would show up when anyone said Voldemort's name. But touching harry? Not sure. Maybe he handed harry the snitch with the cloth for formality purposes and to protect the snitch. He handed Ron the deluminator with a cloth wrapped around it.
Good point, although I find the cloth a weird addition, considering it is unnecessary once the snitch had been touched/caught the first time. But I never noticed the details of this scene until after I read the books. Scrimgeour is very suspicious of the items in Dumbeldore's Will.
I actually 100% agree with Scrimgeour on the sword. It doesn’t belong to Dumbledore or Harry. It was just drawn out of the hat. It’s for any worthy Gryffindor so I think Scrimgeour is right about that.
Dumbledore was not trying to give it to Harry, as he also knew he could not do that, but instead wanted Harry to realize that he wanted him to use the sword to destroy the Horcruxes.
There’s actually a theory that the heir(s) to Gryffindor can only draw the sword, which heavily implies that Harry and Neville might actually be distant cousins. Dumbledore said it himself: “Only a TRUE Gryffindor can pull that one out of the hat.”
@@bronzin1445 If Harry was related to Godric Gryffindor would he have almost been put in Slytherin? By true Gryffindor I believe it's people that embody the values of what Gryffindor stood for.
@@bronzin1445 It isn't simply that. Throughout the series, and especially in the Half-blood Prince, Harry notes the many similarities between himself and Tom Riddle. Harry had many qualities of a Slytherin.
Scrimgeour is such an underrated character. He was one of the greatest aurors in history, was taken by surprise by Voldemort and had to fight him by himself and gave him a good fight before being killed, and would no doubt have been a great Minister for a long time had the former event not taken place. Possibly better than Shacklebolt became, although Kingsley was also a great auror and underrated in his own right.
@@John-yo4sz Then why did he try to follow through on Fudge's plan to get Harry to support the Ministry? Or covering up a mass breakout from Azkaban, or not reporting on Mad-Eye Moody's death whatsoever?
@@John-yo4sz Not to mention irascible. When Harry called out Scrimgeour for being incompetent and corrupt, Scrimgeour poked him with his wand. Burned a hole in Harry's shirt.
I much prefer the movies line of what Dumbeldore wrote in his will than that of the books. Movie: To Ronald Bilius Weasley, I leave my Deluminator. A device of my own making, in the hopes that when things seem most dark, it will show him the light. Book: To Ronald Bilius Weasley, I leave my Deluminator, in the hope that he will remember me when he uses it. The movie version sounds much more like something Dumbledore would say. And its great foreshadowing as to how he will use it.
Zealous It’s not just foreshadowing, it’s the truth. All of the messages Dumbledore left with his bequests were instructions disguised as personal messages. “in the hope that when things seem most dark, it will show him the light.” He disguised as hoping he uses the Deluminator well with its basic ability his hope that, if Ron walks out (because of the effect of the locket, lest we forget), the Deluminator will show him the ball of light from Hermione saying his name. “in the hope that she find it entertaining and instructive.” He disguises as the book being one of fun stories with morals the hope that she realises one of the stories (entertaining) will reveal information they need along with the sign the Deathly Hallows (instructive). “as a reminder of the rewards of perseverance and skill.” He disguises as a normal life lesson the wisdom and encouragement that they’re going to go through immense turmoil and tribulations, but they can do this immense task, as well as of course giving him a clue as to the mindset he’ll need to have, and hiding what Harry will need to help and comfort him as he walks to his supposed death.
Kind of the opposite. He withheld the items for a month, which is the legal limit the ministry is allowed to. They checked for everything and tried to find clues and meaning of why the three got those items.
let's appreciate for a moment how Emma Watson acts out something Hermione will state later in the film: she thought the snitch would open at Harry's touch. Before Harry takes the snitch, she's actually JUST about to say it when she finally decides not to.
@@yagirlzyier3142 Yeah you can also tell the minister (not trying to spell his name) was hoping it would open same as in the books. If you never read the books you wouldnt have known why the minister was acting like that toward the snitch
@@vikingthedude so first of all you need to know that the creator of snitch wears gloves while making the snitch. Once the snitch has been caught by the seeker it is preserved. The snitch won't open unless it receives the touch of the seeker who had caught it. Here the minister was expecting that once harry touches the snitch it would unveil the secret that Dumbledore probably would have tried to give through the snitch. But as you can see in the scene it doesn't open itself, if you remember how he caught his first snitch then you will know that it was in his mouth so the snitch would reveal the message once he keeps it in his mouth. That's why they are all so desperate here. P.s. I highly recommend you to read the books! They are so wholesome!
I didn’t like Rufus Scrimgeour, but I was very sad when I read that he was captured and horrifically tortured by Voldemort for information, yet he refused to give up Harry. What’s that saying, in their last moments people show you who they really are.
Wow in the book Scrimgeour was full-on interrogating them about why Dumbledore left them these items. I really liked and trusted Scrimgeour when I first watched the movies (partly because I love Bill Nighy), but after reading the books I realize how untrustworthy he was.
He definitely seemed untrustworthy and not likeable too in the book version during this scene where he interrogates them about the items Dumbledore left them. However, after the wedding scene when Kingsley sends the Patronus to let them know the ministry has fallen it's later revealed that Voldermort tortured Scrimgeour to get the whereabouts of Harry which he didn't reveal, so Scrimgeour's last act before his death was to protect Harry.
It's not that he's untrustworthy; he's worry about millions of innocent lives, but because of Fudge's mistakes, he's not even given a fair chance to work with the people who might have the info needed to take Voldemort down.
His heart was in the right place but yeah, book Scrimgeour was a bit arse and honestly not that much better than fudge in certain aspects and just overall gave Harry a reason to be annoyed and not trust him. Movie Scrimgeour played by the brilliant Bill Nighy at least gives you the impression that he actually knows what he’s doing and takes the impending threat seriously while also having a calm yet stern demeanour similar to dumbledore
@@TheDeathmail honestly that’s what I’m saying he became the way he is due to all of the piled up mess and shit that was left behind from the past six movies/books so he really had no choice it’s like presidents whatever unwise or incompetent choices they make their predecessors always pay the price of their past mistakes
They imply it when Harry touches the snitch and nothing happens. He was expecting the skin contact to reveal something, but it didn't in this moment. Scrimgeour does this body jerk thing which makes it seem he was expecting something to happen.
Imagine being visited by literally the minister of wizarding world in britain just to tell you that the most powerful wizard even in death, still has favourites.
Emma was showing her talents in this scene. She barely speaks, but you can see the gears turning in Granger's head as she's trying to figure out the deeper meaning among the items.
😌I know real Harry Potter fans felt the nostalgia when Ron received the deluminator . That was literally the first magic used in the opening scene of “The Philosophers stone”, when Dumbledore and Ms Mcgonagoll drop Harry off at Privet Drive as a baby.
Yesss definitely 1st nd 2nd part of deathly hallows brings all childhood memories back Like deluminator, gryffindor sword , golden ball , dobby's comeback 🥺❤
Caden Rolland What? That didn't seem like junk at all. Holy shit, if a device of which none other exists made by Dumbledore himself, a book from Dumbledore's personal collection, and the Golden Snitch from Harry's first ever Quidditch game seem like junk, I'd hate to be your parents at Christmas. Fuck me...
@@Ranger1812 Your arguments can easily be defeated. At the first glance, a device that can turn on and turn off lights would be fun to use but it wouldn't be that useful (remember i'm talking about at first glance, yes it will all be useful later), then we have a collection of children's fairytales, yeah it would be a read but not very helpful. And then we have a sports item that Harry caught on his first Quidditch game, like cmon, this would be the equivalant of giving me a sandwich i dropped at the park years ago (aside from placing a stone that can resurrect people in it).
@@Ranger1812 And yet he's still right. OK here, this is better. A magical light switch. Really? That's about as useful as a book of matches. And they all have wands so the light switch isn't looking useful at all. A fairy tale book? That is totally useless! If you get one for your birthday you're not going to be happy about it. The Golden Snitch. This is equivalent to getting the first baseball or Cricket ball you used to win your first game. That's got sentimental value, but you'd be expecting a lot more from the most powerful wizard of all time who was also your best friend. They were all expecting exciting and powerful magical items, not the equivalent of a book of matches.
To Ron the disluminator- Because Dumbledore knew we was hardheaded, hot tempered and would cause problems so he gave Ron a tool to guide him. To Hermione he left the storybook- He knew that the story of the three brothers, owners of the deathly Hollows, was there and she would figure it out. Harry the snitch- it’s obvious he knew the stone was there, since he had the cloak and knew was he was dead Voldy would go after the wand. He knew Harry would continue the journey and find a way to destroy Voldy. Plus, his portrait instructed Snape to give the sword to him so he could destroy the horucrux.
*Ron knew a book* that Hermione didn't! Funny, because Ron isn't a reader! 📚 *Hermione knew about flesh memories* though she lacked much knowledge about Quidditch! 🏰🧹 2:32 You can see Hermione is edgy about Harry taking the Snitch afraid it might reveal its secret in front of the Prime Minister. 💼
@@shangrencao1211 Hermione doesn’t know about the resurrection stone is inside the golden snitch. The only history I would at least Hermione know about would be the history of the golden snitch. Quidditch through the ages was not a story in the tale of beedle the bard. Quidditch through the ages is a separate book telling the story of the golden snitch and what it is. The resurrection stone was a secret that was not mentioned in the book. Just take it from me who has read all 7 books and the 3 library books (the tales of beedle the bard, quidditch through the ages, and Fantastic beasts and where to find them).
Hermione (and Harry) grew up in muggle families and her mother didn't read wizard tales to her. By the time she started reading wizard books, she was past the age of fairy tales. Ron grew up in a wizard family.
Well, Keep in mind that the snitch had the resurrection stone inside but since nobody knew that, So, At that moment, yes, Ron got the coolest thing. Good for him
They should have had Scrimgeour mention that the Sword (and by extension the sorting hat) was the only relic left belonging to the founders of Hogwarts, as the Cup, Diadem and Locket had been missing for centuries. This would make Harry realize that perhaps (part of) the reason Dumbledore left him the sword was to prevent Voldemort from turning it into a Horcrux and that he must have stolen the other relics and wanted the sword to complete his collection.
Scrimgeour was brash on his approach, but he always meant well. And it's not that the trio didn't trust him, but knew it was wise to not be apart of the ministry since Voldemort would be looking for Harry, and any connection to the Ministry would be very easy to track.
Dumbledore was a beast it took what 7 wizards and him being hexed by a curse and not to mention he designed his own death now that speaks to his abilities no wonder Voldemort was afraid of him
I never like they ditched hagrids character in every movie after first 2 movies. He has more screen time in first two and Harry Hagrid chemistry was so strong.
Albus made this before he died, he wanted the Ministry of Magic to give it to the trio, but they had to inspect it first before they can present it. When they found that no dark magic was included, the minister got the go ahead. The minister for Magic visited the trio in the Burrow (the Weasleys house) and presented them items Dumbledore left for them to continue his hunt for Voldemort’s Horcruxs, Harry Potter was given the first snitch he has ever caught as a Quidditch seeker, Ron Weasley was given Albus’s Deluminator, Hermione Granger was given a book called the tales of Beedle the bard. Dumbledore also wanted to give the sword of Gryffindor to Harry, but the minister cannot since it did not technically belonged to Dumbledore.
there are so many as solutions that could've easily led to Harry finding the horcruxes and defeating them, but then it wouldn't have been as exciting and interesting.
I think Dumbledore probably knew that the sword wasn't his to give and just snuck a mention of it into the will so that the gang would know it was important (which it was in destroying horcruxes).
It’s funny how watching back this, his reaction to giving Harry the snitch in hopes that it would open and reveal what’s inside but didn’t happen then, as it was later revealed since he caught the snitch with his mouth, he had to kiss it to open it 🤣
Mad props to Scrimgoer on getting those items to the kids before he was killed. He could have EASILY put that off considering the situation all around him but his decision LITERALLY was one of the main reasons for victory.
Dumbledore leaving ron this great diluminator then he leaves hermoine a book and she like um ok and then harry being is that it cause all he got was a snitch he is like but I'm the chosen one😂
Scrimgour was expecting the snitch to open when Harry touched it, as was Hermione. His reaction is something only readers of the book would catch on to and understand why.
I mean, he's kind of right that Harry definitely doesn't have any claim to it, and neither does Dumbledore really. It presents itself to whomever it deems worthy.
@@lukesmith720 Yes. In the books he was tortured for Harry's whereabouts and even though Scrimgeour knew Harry was at the Weasleys he never said anything which saved the Weasleys from being tortured as well and bought Harry more time. It has a bigger impact in the book since Harry and Scrimgeour have a huge fight for their final conformation at the end of this scene. It makes him sacrifice more meaningful. I don't ever think it's mentioned in the movies.
Funny how Ron and Harry gets cool things 1. Curious why he left them the items but 2. Hermione just gets a book like thinking uh ok? I will take that don’t think that I’d be interested in reading it though lol
Scrimgeour admitting that Voldemort is too strong is pretty terrifying considering how we just saw him desperately try to reassure the public that the Ministry remains strong... Wish Scrimgeour tried harder to make some kind of cooperation with Harry. Or at least share information about Voldemort's weakness
Even when he was dead Dumbledore was still playing the game. Leaving Harry the resurrection stone. Leaving hermione the book about the hallows and how voldemort would seek out these powerful objects and yet if he just focused his efforts on finding hermione, Ron and Harry then he would have won as no one would have hunted for his horcruxes.
@@nikicarrie4071 To have the spirits of his deceased family members give him the courage to go to Voldemort to be killed along with the fragment of Voldemort's soul he had in him when he was unintentionally made into a Horcrux.
Interesting fact the same golden snitch that Harry caught in his first year at Hogwarts is the exact same golden snitch that I saw in Fantastic Beasts and the secrets of Dumbledore so in other words it has been passed down by those who have caught it and the last person who caught the golden snitch is Harry James Potter because inside the golden snitch holds the one thing that Albus Dumbledore has kept with him for so many years and that was the resurrection Stone
There are many golden snitch,, But dumbledore used the first snitch that harry catched because ,he catches with his mouth,, the snitch did not open when harry touched it with his hands As hermione stated,,the snitch have flesh memory of the one who catched it,so whenever the seeker touch it ,it will open,,but in this case harry catched it with his mouth, In the last scene where harry went to the forest,he kissed it and it opens.
