Nice job on the trailer. I think these trailers are mass produced and done with welders that get paid by the piece. it wouldn't surprise me if that chromed pin was cut from a old hydraulic cylinder. I've got a similar project to do to mine. Only it's the hinge on the left side. The pin froze in the tubing (no grease fittings either) from no lubrication and when the previous owner raised the body it twisted the tubing off of the frame. Then they proceeded to let it down on the fender. I've also got the floor and some of the body frame to replace. Looks like someone put something in the bed that was pulled out of the salt water.
It’s awfully funny you say this… as I pulled the first pin that wasn’t froze I was thinking it looked like a pin from a hydraulic shaft. It was pitted in some spots that wouldn’t be typical of a plain old pivoting pin. It almost seemed like a hydraulic shaft that maybe didn’t pass inspection and got tossed to the side… and then installed on this trailer as a second use. Many brands of the these trailers are… sub par at best. I own a couple different brands and I can say that I would personally never buy this brand. Thanks for the comment and keep an eye out for the next video. It’ll be another dump trailer with different issues.
