We scored 32 100% pure honey bears from the 99cent store today! We put them in warm water on the stove & poured them into 9 quart sized mason jars! 🍯 for years!

We got a ton of taco pizzas from Aldi the other day. We were so excited and felt like your frugal family. I am not eating them because theya re disgusting, but my husband will and they were free and that works for me. Also, a couch cover. Brand new. WTF? Why would they throw that out?

I bet the couch cover was a return. It is weird what you can find in a dumpster - like that brand new shiny silver huge pot we found!? Brand new in the box! It is awesome - I cooked with it the other day. Probably a return. They throw away all returns. I near you on the pizzas - we have gotten some weird flavored pizzas - husband will eat them, so hey, there's a meal covered.

I ABSOLUTELY love you guys!😊 I solo dive ☹️ my local Aldi once a week, thanks to both of you. It’s just unbelievable what they toss but I am very grateful. It is allowing me to build a food supply stock for my pantry and freezers. I use my dehydrator for most of the fruit and am going to teach myself how to water bath can now! I solo dive also (female over 50.. hoping my comment will give more single women encouragement to try it) SoO grateful - I have so much that I'm now able to donate to our local helpline.. it's my new addiction and it's exciting to help others also. PS I currently have mushroom/onion/pepper/italian seasoning roll ups (tortilla style) in my dehydrator for pizza flavor artisan wraps! All freegan dumpster finds. YAY!!

My sister and I divided our last (second in 2 days) dumpster produce haul between 4 families and are dehydrating some of the 40 or so lbs. of bananas, some strawberries and mangoes as I write this!I think youve helped create 3 dumpster diving addicts! My nephew's wife...my sister and I cannot wait to go back on Tuesday!!!

I absolutely love the fact that you all are rescuing wasted food. Anouther idea if the fruit is over ripe you can freeze them for smoothies so they don't waste. We love doing that with over ripe pineapple and and bananas also we are looking into the laws here in Texas to see if we might try to rescue some wasted food as well. You guys are great. 😂 I was commenting while watching you already have that idea.

I have lots of animals that would be in heaven too! Even when my son was PIC of the produce department at the local grocery he couldn't hook us up, and the dumpsters around here get locked as well. It's upsetting that so much good food goes to waste when so many could be fed.

Everybody locks the dumpsters so nobody will eat the food that could help ppl or family who need it. They have took to having “someone “ 👮‍♂️ guarding it ... I could just be crazy but how about leaving them open so ppl who need to get some food if they r in need, I was told when I was little if your hungry you’ll eat it.

I started dumpster diving at my Aldi about a month ago and only bought a watermelon since. I’ve gotten all the fruit and veggies we’ve needed. Plus I’ve been giving fruit and veggies to a mom and her 6 kids and a 82 year old women from the dumpster to. They are so happy to get all the food. They found it hard to believe I’m getting all that good food from a dumpster.

I know. I live in a twenty foot camper that usually has no food at all! I live on my sister's property but they are gone almost all the time and the house is locked. No key! They stay gone all day! I am probably going to be walking in to town tomorrow if the weather permits to dumpster dive. I pray it is full and that there is something edible that is still good and unopened.

@@freakinfrugal5268 ahh hun that's so sweet, when I said before about I'd be proud to be a friend or a neighbor, that's exactly why, you care, you have compassion and I personally agree with alot of how you view things (I had twins too, back in 99)... I used to dumpster dive myself.. (I'm OCD with waste, drives me insane!) But I haven't in a long time, mostly now due to medical reasons. I recently was hospitalized (on the road go recovery now, trying to stay positive) and just fell on hard times, I have an incredible family who help tremendously, it's just seems to be a tough time for all of us at the moment. If I have learned anything from what life has handed me (and boy are it's hands dirty 😲) is I can survive, we always got threw to the other side, just need to have faith in yourself.. I really do appreciate you offering, I'm way up here near Beantown Boston in lovely Taxachusetts.. so it's not just down the street.. I may be a lil jelly of the abundance in your neck of the woods, round here moreso a territorial thing, but for a good cause.. Y'all keep doing what you do, I hope the rest of the world comes to it senses one day soon and can figure it all out. Need more of them to think like y'all... Thanks for sharing... Those bananas you often find in the dumpsters are wayyy better looking than those available here in the Philippines. Merchants here still sell uglier looking bananas. Because good ones are for export, but sadly getting wasted overseas simply because they just get brown spots. 🤦#newsubscriber

Frozen grapes are popsicles in our house. We get bananas all the time when we dump shop. I hate to see all them in the garbage. The bananas come into port near our old house & a few family members drive for the banana distribution. We also had a rice company near us too. My son will not eat a banana unless it HAS the brown spots on it. Have you ever tried oatmeal banana cookies. There is no need for eggs or sugar. Absolutely wonderful tasting. Keep up the good job.

I've watched several of your videos. It makes me feel like I want to cry to see the amount of fruits and vegetables you find in dumpsters when kids are eating garbage for school lunch. I don't know what the state laws are / policies are for stores to have a partnership with food banks, but if the stores are not allowed to have a partnership with food banks, then the least they can do is have a partnership with school districts so that kids can eat healthy food during lunch time. And right now, there's been some stories in the news about kids (or maybe I should say parents) being in debt with schools due to the cost of school lunch. I'm thinking if stores partnered with schools / donated food to schools, it might help schools save money in addition to helping with the cost of school lunches.

"Impressed" doesn't even *begin* to cover it, Amy - this was one extraordinary haul! Nearly $200? Yeee-freakin'-IKES! I think food is a MAJOR expenditure in U.S. households, and we rarely go out to eat (almost never). If I could physically dive, I'd have been in this game 20 years ago (when I first started reading about DD'ing and freeganism as a powerful way to save $$). Rock ON!! I am off tomorrow from my part time job and since I don't have a car, I might walk into downtown Pell City tomorrow to CVS. Hopefully, the dumpster will be loaded! Would love some snacks, odds and ends of food, and pet food. Like you, I don't need refined sugar but I would have to walk thirty or forty miles to find an Aldi's, Petco, Barnes and Noble or anything else. On the opposite side of town, we have a Walmart and Dollar Tree. In downtown, there is a Dollar General and Food Outlet another Dollar General the opposite direction of where I live and also a Publix. Not having a car stinks, being that I have to tote everything. Hope I find something good to munch on though!

I have a new super healthy recipe for you. 2 beets peeled and grated - 4 cloves of garlic - 2 avocados 🥑 mashed- 2 or 3 spoons of oil - squeeze 1/2 a lemon or lime - salt to taste. Mix it up and speed on anything or eat it plain . Chill it for about 10-15 minutes . It is so delicious and super healthy. Let me know if you like it. ☘️Patricia

I believe it's 40% of food that makes it to the supermarket, that is wasted, but 60% of all food produced is wasted. The 60% includes the stuff that farmers have to throw away right after harvest, as it isn't "Ideal" for sale. It's too big or small or a funny shape!

Ugh, I know - it makes me sick. But still, I kinda don't get why they have throw it all away - I mean I know is it a MASSIVE amount of crop to deal with - but local farmers market? Food banks? Giving to the local hog farmer or goat farmer? Or selling to the juice/soup/sauce manufacturers? I am picturing tomatoes for some reason. B ut you know the V-8 juice factory isn't using all the beautiful big boy beefsteak slicing tomatoes. There has to be a better way, but the will just isn't there yet.

AMY, could you do a video on how you properly freeze and store your produce please? My bananers always trun brown and get mushy when I peel and freeze them, I try to get them as air tight as possible...I use them in smoothies or "nice cream" but they get a funny taste when they turn mushy. I dont care about the color turning brownish but care about taste and texture. Anyway.... BIG CONGRATULATIONS! !!! WOW...JUST, WOW! Im in awe. I eat a very high plant based diet and that food is amazing, well over $200 in my area.

What a haul! Everything looks delicious. I like the speckled bananas. It's not hard to believe that there is that much waste, but it's really disappointing to know that this is what stores do in America. Love your videos!

Frugal mummy, at the moment on the Gold Coast in Australia a bunch of celery is $7.99 at Coles broccoli is $5.99 a kg it’s ridiculous! There was floods so the prices skyrocketed. Grapes are not cheap either. Nothing wrong with dumpster diving at all.

Wow frugal mom just bought bananas 69 cents a pound here in Mississippi. Love to watch you guy's do actual dumpster dive so awsome.

Did you know that you could put the flour in the freezer it won't freeze.I have many bags in mine that I have wrapped in plastic .My Mom would catch wonderful food sales and stock up, that she passed to me Wonderful haul 🍊🍇🥔🥕🍍🍌🍆🍏🍎

Bananas are perfect once they start spotting, the flavour intensifies! If they go over time, perfect for cooking with and as you say smoothie making. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
