If it’s any comfort, many streaming companies order 2 seasons of a new show. That’s why some shows like Rings of Power and Halo made it to S2, even though audiences hate it. Now, if Velma makes it to season 3, I’ll be very disappointed.

Well, to play devil's advocate, it was never explicitly said WHAT Mindy got the medal for. Maybe it was for 'Velma,' maybe it was for 'The Office' or 'The Mindy Project.' Don't get me wrong, 'Velma' sucks donkey- balls and Kaling is a horrible person and I can name at least a couple people who'd be more deserving of the medal than her (i.e. Brad Bird, director of 'The Iron Giant,' 'the Incredibles,' and 'Ratatouille'), I'm just saying.
@@TheDoctormandrake Sort of. She got the National Medal of the Arts, in 2021, given to her at the White House by Biden. It's the nation's highest award for advancing the arts in America. If you look at the others who received it, there's an obvious agenda behind who was chosen. Of the 4 men, 2 are POC's, the 3rd is a "rainbow advocate", and the 4th is a big Dem donor and fund-raiser. Of the 6 women, 5 are also POC's, and the 6th emceed at DNC in 2020... supporting Biden, and had supported Al Gore and Obama before that.

Mindy acts like she hates rich white men, yet in most movies where she inserts herself, pines for the white guy. Fred was a really decent person and a good leader. He didn’t deserve to be crapped on like that. I guess by making Shaggy black they didn’t want to make him a stoner anymore? I loved that part about Shaggy. They destroyed everything good about this show. Daphne was beautiful but not a mean girl. They made all of these characters annoying shallow jerks. I think Mindy is a very troubled person who doesn’t love herself but hates everyone else more.
I really don't get what the Velma writers are doing, especially with the Hex Girls. In Scooby Doo history, they're always a young, popular, goth girl rock band known for being attractive. They're always around the Gang's age, too. So who in the writers room said "Hey guys, lets bring back the Hex Girls for the next season, it'll be a great nod to the fans. But also we should only bring back one, and she's a retired, 40, physically unattractive single mom who runs a occult shop." "Dude, yes! That's brilliant! Man, the fans gon love this!"

They can't have a pale skinned character be attractive and likeable, so middle aged single mother will have to do! If they bring in Dusk they'd do that same, while propping up Luna as she's the black girl of the group and would somehow be the one wrote all their songs along with being the true star.
I'd wager after going through such a terrible existential set of circumstances like that you realise that you don't want to waste your time torturing yourself with garbage like this.

Mystery incorporated, The OG series and the two og live action movies is literally my recommendation if someone who wants to get into the Scooby Doo franchise
I can respect that opinion, but I personally think the relationship writing made Mystery Incorporated a slog to get through. The mysteries were good and intriguing, however you just keep getting reminded about the relationship drama between Shaggy and Velma. It's definitely way better than Velma, but still flawed in its own way.
Honestly Velma is just trying to take the best things from mystery incorporated but push them to the extremes and make it more raunchy. Velma is just shit and super lame. I can’t believe it got a second season…
@@BrandonScott-mi5pz same way? If you're referring to my comment, there's a bit of a difference between the shows' take on romance. Velma's idea of romance is constantly making out and wanting to bang, whereas Mystery Incorporated had a petty love triangle that pretty much dehumanized Shaggy as Scooby and Velma fought over him like possessive girlfriends.
Taking jabs at rich people is ironic coming from a woman worth $45M. Maybe Mindy Kaling feels like she's being discriminated against cause she's not a 100 millionaire or billionaire.

If you want to watch the show...I would recommend disparu's video. He goes through the episodes thoroughly enough that you could consider having seen it.
This series is an abomination. It butchered the original, and Im sure that there were plenty of great shows that were canceled before being released on HBO, instead they allowed this shtfest. What a disgraceful platform.
I disagree on the concept. Kids properties shouldn’t be repurposed for adults. Adults need to move on from children’s cartoons and the kids need something to enjoy. Once the IP “matures” it’s hard to get it back in the bottle.
I think it truly depends on how it's done, tho. Take comic book characters for examples. They are adaptable to multiple mediums. They were able to make multiple versions of characters like Joker or Deadpool. Some versions are kid friendly while other versions are dark and graphic for more mature audiences. There is actually a more mature non-canon comic of Scooby-Doo in a futuristic post apocalyptic like setting, and it's actually really well received.
See if you're ever feeling like you could never make a good story just remember Velma exists. You could write a story about an egg rolling off a countertop and it would be more emotional and funny.
I’ve watched so much Scooby Doo before. Tons of the older stuff - the shows and movies, etc. Great brand. And this show is such garbage for spitting on all of it. It’s clear they had no interest in Scooby Doo but since they cloaked themselves in it to get watches at first, they have to keep going. And they keep going by desecrating everything about it.
In the finale of Scooby doo and the 13 ghosts, they turned fred into a cheerleader as he feels like a fraud, as Daphne has always been the true leader.
Yeah, that was a red flag for what was to come in Return To Zombie Island, which was arguably terrible in every aspect of writing. It just missed poor relationship writing tbh, cause Fred and the mystery machine truck had better chemistry than all of the Velma 'characters'.
Thank you for watching so we don't have to. After learning the story you can tell the writers are damaged. They made the characters damaged. How it got greenlit or renewed speaks to decline of HBO.
I like the clip at which you talk. It's nice and unhurried. Correction: Daphne is Asian and Gay (!!!) because DEI. I think some accountants came in and discovered they could get some more of them government dollars if they diversified their portfolio- errr, skin color and sex orientations of the cast. And by the way, as always, "diversity" means less straight white Christian men. Fewer, that is. The writers of Velma are giving all the credibility Freud could ever want for his theory on Penis Envy. I watched Rings of Power and like Papa Chen hopes there's not another season of Velma I hope there's no new season of Rings of Power.
I will not lie to you: A Japanese Anime reimagining of Scooby-Doo where the Mystery Gang have to put a stop to a series of supernatural killings by finding and catching the killer before too many people are murdered would make a better series than Velma.
I'll just rewatxh the Classics series and What's New Sxooby Doo. Some pretty top-notch movies. Pirates Ahoy, Zombie Island, and The Witch's Ghost have great music
The best version of Scooby-Doo can only be the “Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated” version of 2010. And the two live action from the early 2000s. Aside from those, everything else is trash. And Velma takes the cake for trashiest
Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated was good with mysteries yes, although the relationship writing was pretty bad. I mean, the show got bogged down by the love triangle of Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo. It's why I find it hard to get through the first season and the first half of season 2.
You know, Velma was being transphobic for assuming the gender of the victims that were murdered because their privates had been removed. So clearly they're not men anymore right? ;)
Thanks for taking one for the team...well all of us. One good thing about Season 2 is that it's almost nonexistent online with news stories and videos. Like the world realized it's a dumpster fire and just avoided it, not even bothered hate watching. There's hope for us all yet.
"Riverdale" was literally the most insane tv show I had ever seen a "Scooby Doo" show in that style would be worse. Much worse. Let's we forget The CW has outright supernatural crap in their Nancy Drew series.

Animation often makes more than one season at a time to save money in production. But I don’t understand why HBO didn’t just throw it in the bin and take the tax deduction for the loss.
The whole joke about the cartoon - the original cartoon - regarding Shaggy, was that no one actually KNEW whether he was really a stoner or just really spacey. That's what made it so funny. This? This is a joke, but not in a good way.
NO! EXPLAIN TO ME THE PROBLEM WITH THE DEXTER SEASON FINALE!? This show is junk, we all knew it would be. How did you want Dexter to end? That idiotic original ending where he caught and see's all his victims...WHO WWERE PURE EVIL btw, my goodness. Was it a great ending? Well...whatever, but it wasn't that bad....until the made Dexter the Young Blood - I watched 1 ep then peaced out.
14:53 The franchise has shown remarkable restraint with the Hex Girls, only featuring them in film or TV a half dozen times in 25 years before this. They didn’t even appear in installments where they would’ve naturally fit, like “Music of the Vampire” or “Rock and Roll Mystery.” So why the @&$? was Thorn brought back for this of all things?!
