For me, Jurgen Prochnow was a perfect Leto. But got behind Oscar. He pulled it off better than I expected. Rebecca was a very nervous Jessica for me, more clearly freaking out when Jessica's stress in my interpretation of the books, was always under the surface. But they are visibly gorgeous people no doubt.
@BarstucksCoffee
@BarstucksCoffee 2 года назад
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky I thought that about Ferguson's Jessica too, but I can let that slide because of the runtime constraints Villeneuve had to work with. How I see it is that we still do witness moments that show Jessica's Bene Gesserit training, but because of the runtime issue, Villeneuve wanted to show Jessica's motherhood and her training working against each other and couldn't include all those moments of Jessica's steel resolve without making the movie much longer than it already is. That said, I would very much welcome what all the hardcore fans have been asking for to have WB/Legendary allow an extended/director's cut. The overarching context behind the moments that did make it into the cut is arguably secondary, but the core narrative remains and I would gladly sit through all the deleted scenes Villeneuve forced himself to cut out.

The fact that this was the Sci-Fi novel that started the Sci-Fi boom is absolutely baffling to me. The level of thought that went into the lore is feels like it should be the most recent one. It takes place so far in the future that humans have already created advanced AI, went to war with it, somehow won the war and then collectively banned all kinds of AI/computer technology leading to a sort of reverse renaissance into the religious and mystical. It’s f’ing genius

JOHN BOYAJY list-Kynes is a black woman and dr. Yueh is Asian. From a first impression someone would say to me “ah! You are a racist!”. But the truth is that hollywood producers needs, -because of business-, to use specific characters to appeal to the audience, they need to sell more, and how we can easily see in max production like Star Wars, they need more women and they need famous Chinese actors to appeal to the Asian market. It’s just a rule, Hollywood is a business. Momoa is clearly there to boost the young audience as well. But overall I hope we will see these aspects mildly and we will see more art. I trust villanueve

I never heard of this book before, but I can say that this movie has me very intrigued, this definitely feels like it could be the next LOTR in the way of how important it is for cinema, I really would love this movie to go down in cinema history up their with Peter Jackson LOTR I just watched Dave Daschmitlan, probably absolutely butchered his last name but based off what he said it’s a historic film that will go down in cinema history, he is an actor in the movie so he could be biased, I really hope he’s right we need another movie that lives up to LOTR films 😊

@@SynthApprentice I guess it depends where in america you go. obesity aside, genetics and hormones are obviously a factor, but genetically, white americans are not gonna be substantially different from white englishmen on average. but in this case we're talking about famous people, right? and maybe there's a cultural difference in which male actors become very famous. maybe englishmen are more drawn to thin males like tom hiddleston, and americans are more drawn to bulky males like chris hemsworth. like an archetypal fulfillment thing. american actors who look like tom hiddleston might not get as many roles because they don't have the accent to really "complete" the film archetype. I personally look way more like hiddleston and I know plenty of young men here (southern california) who do too. I wouldn't say it's the norm but it isn't the norm in england either. I guess what I'm saying is, perhaps it's only the norm in film and TV. slightly different standards of beauty don't necessarily mean the people are physically different, it could just mean the aspiration and the people elevated to that status are different. just speculation, of course

Herr Schmidt Watch Corridor Crew! They make a lot of VFX videos but they also love shooting practical. It’s just about being smart about using VFX, using it (or not using it) to move the story forward rather than just to showcase tech or skill or resources. That said, it doesn’t necessarily mean that if a movie uses 90% practical shots and effects, it’ll be good. So much comes into making good films, and the primary factors are always the writing and direction. For the plethora of complex ideas and introspection that is Dune, the grandiosity of the physical sets, the artistry in cinematography, and authenticity of costume design may help the epicness of it, but good direction, acting, screenplay, and script are far bigger determinants for success than the visuals. A film can be visually beautiful and award-winning but fail to convey the message or express the story well enough to just leave the viewer in awe for a long time. I really really hope the movie will be amazing and not go Blade Runner 2049 (visually stunning but very dry and a long slog).

The soundtrack in Lynch's Dune was one of the best things about the movie, which helped make it the cult classic it is. It gave the film an "epic" feel to it. I'd rather hear an original soundtrack. The themes of the novels are about how man creates governments and religions, the great leader and messiah myths in order to organize and control society and how these things inevitably take on a life of their own that instead give rise to the worst aspects of humanity overriding whatever good intentions they may have started out with. The ecological concurrent theme is also about control, the attempt to bend nature to ones needs and will and the unintended consequences that ultimately shows the futility of the idea of control. Humans most often show an inability to control themselves individually which dooms their attempts to control themselves as a species or the world around them.

I am 57 and the anticipation on Dune is like no other movie. Frank Herbert's amazing book, then given to the brilliant Denis Villeneuve who then went about building the perfect cast for it. Can not wait. (And then Pink Floyd Eclipse as that trailer music). Hopefully I will be out of lock down (Melbourne Australia) before the movie hits the cinema. I also think this was the first time the cast had seen the trailer, which is a great moment to watch their reactions. PS. Interesting fact. Denis Villeneuve has now made 2 movies that had Sean Young in the original. As long as he stops there and doesn't do Ace Ventura : Pet Detective next we're good.

I'm 50 and have been a Dune fan since I was 16 when I found the first book in a book swap shop. I devoured the book and have been reading them all again and again and again. While I loved the first movie and the sci-fi series, this has the potential to be absolutely epic in every way. Hopefully this leads to the entire universe making it onto the screen. I cannot wait for it to hit theaters.

Jason Momoa is disgusting he's got a filthy mouth and he cannot act it's ruining it for me by having him in the movie everyone else seems decent the cast in the first movie in 1984 was phenomenal maybe having sting in it but he wasn't even that bad but Jason Momoa I cannot stand

This is a huge casting mistake by Dennis everyone else I can live with but Jason Momoa as Duncan is a joke it's ruined the movie feel for me already yes one actor can have that impact does any remember Judge Dredd with the horrible Rob Schneider the trailer was actually good then they took Sylvester Stallone out of the helmet and uniform probably cuz of him and that the stupid Rob Schneider in that movie ruined it the first 15 minutes was great until they took Stallone out of the costume

@@TheBatmanjb Don't know about the Judge Dredd stuff but I agree on the casting. I have no problem with Jason but he is wrong for Idaho. Idaho is not a big hulking dude. He is a fighter but he is lithe and tuned. I'm no authority on Hollywood actors but I love me some Dune and I just picture Duncan as someone very different.
