Look at Paul’s eyes in the trailer. If they are not affected by spice(blue) then yes, it is early in the movie. The vision battle scene in Part 1 had Paul’s eyes of Blue.

Denis Villeneuve has said that if this film is successful, he would like to make a third movie, which would be an adaptation of the second book, "Dune Messiah". Dune Messiah is a shorter book than Dune, so it would fit in one movie. It acts like one big coda for Paul's journey in the first book and would make a good final instalment of a trilogy of movies, IMO.

I don’t know if I’m delusional for hoping, but I’d love them to continue and adapt them until at least God Emperor. *Spoilers for upcoming novels* Leto II is born at the end of Messiah, so the set up is there to continue his story eventually. And Paul doesn’t die at the end either, so as a book fan his story would feel a little unfinished for me. I concede that Heretics and Chapterhouse would be very hard to adapt though, I don’t know how general audiences would receive Honored Matres and ghola imprinting lol.

I love that at the end Paul still does the formal salute he learned from Duncan before single combat, like in the first movie, but he also adds the Fremen phrase he learned from Jamis as well, "May thy knife chip and shatter." Shows what he has become. The best of Atreides and Fremen combined.

They may adapt the second book, "Dune Messiah", as the third movie to complete a trilogy. It is the end of the Paul Atreides arc in the book series. The rest of the books then focus on his children and descendants.

If this does well they are going to do some kind of Dune Messiah adaptation. Denis has talked about wanting to, it kinda completes Paul’s arc and moral of the story. I think it’s gonna happen.

For me it's all about Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha. I think he's going to do a great job here. I've only seen Butler in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Elvis. I know the rest of the cast is superb so I know they all will slay this movie. I can't wait!

It's been years since I read the books but I'm pretty sure Florence Pugh's character Princess Irulan is actually the narrator or relator of the first story as she is also a Bene Gesserit trained historian in addition to the emperor's daughter. In fact, she provides the opening exposition in the 1984 movie. I always liked her character and would've liked to see her explored more in the books.

The first movie was a masterpiece and I’m absolutely certain this one will be even better! I normally don’t do this but I actually read the entire book last year after seeing Part 1 and the scenes and set pieces in the second half of the book rival the epic size an scale of The Return Of The King.

As a book person, Dune: Part One was one of the best possible adaptations I could have asked for. I have faith Part Two will be as great as Part One was. And, even though these two films should, and appear to, cover all of book one (of six,) Denis Villeneuve really should do a third film covering the second book, (something I think he knows.) For the same reasons that I always recommend to people who are new to the books, that they read books one and two before deciding if they want to continue to the other four books. I believe HBO has the Dune: Sisterhood series in the works, updates for that have been far and few between though.

I wouldn't consider riding the worm a spoiler... people were more upset it was seen at all in the first film. I think it's just here to tease the IMAX glory of the full scene we'll be getting. Also part 2 is just the 2nd half of the first book, the story continues for millennia.

There are 6 books in the series that tell one continuous story, not spin-offs. Dune Part One and Part Two are the first book only but there has been some talk about adapting the next book as well. In the early 2000s, the SciFi channel adapted the first book as three 2 hour movies structured as a miniseries. A couple years later they combined books 2 and 3 into another series of three 2 hour movies (the two miniseries on SciFi were called Frank Herbert's Dune and Frank Herbert's Children of Dune which is also the title of book three). Logically the first three books make sense to be told as one continuous story.

Dune: Part One was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, won 6 of them. If Part Two is a superb worthy masterpiece, then we could see this one also get multiple nominations at next year’s Oscars. Hopefully Denis Villeneuve will get a Best Director nomination this time after getting snub for Part One.

0:41 Villeneuve already said he wanted to make a trilogy. So the book "Dune" are the first two parts, and part 3 is (hopefully) going to be the smaller second book "Dune Messiah". This last part ends the arc of Paul Atreides, and that's why Villeneuve would want to do the trilogy (based on the first two books). After that, there are still 6 other books, but those are about his son, the God-Emperor, and the sisterhood, so those are new arcs. It's not sure if those will be made into a movie also, but if the first 3 do well, who knows? Maybe Villeneuve can be persuaded to do the whole series of Frank Herbert's Dune.

I strongly recommend seeing the first film in IMAX, preferably in a double-feature with Part 2 - you have not truly experienced the film if you haven't seen it in IMAX. There is more to Paul riding the worm that isn't shown...

As a fan of the DUNE books, I have a natural bias toward this movie, so it's really cool for me to watch a review by people who haven't read the books but are still so amped by the trailer; it gives me a better sense of how normal viewers are reacting to it. I hope they re-release Part 1 in theaters before/at the same time as Part 2. I skipped it on release due to COVID concerns and although I enjoyed it on HBO Max (it looked great in HDR), the small screen didn't do it justice visually.

Duke Leto had the knowledge and foresight to know that the Fremen were potentially the greatest resource Arrakis had rivaling even the spice melange. An army of thousands of Fremen warriors trained in the weirding way riding hundreds of wyrms collapsing on the enemy is the true meaning of "desert power". Both the Emperor and House Harkonnen are about to realize they bit off more than they could chew lol.

Part 2 will finish up the first story in the dune saga. The next movie, if they make it, will be Dune Messiah. It's 12 years after Dune and follows Paul and the Fremen in the aftermath of the events that happen in this next movie.

I agree that the riding the sandworm was a bit strong for a trailer, but I also know there is a lot being held back for what else is to come so in the end it is sort of the least of the expectations of people that don't know the story.

What you should do is read something that gives you a description of the Dune world because the movie misses the story of why things are the way they are. The movie is a great visual but there is no way any motion picture could capture the Dune universe. Everyone for example is excited about riding the worm but honestly that is such a small part of the story. If you are going to earn the respect of the the faithful taking the water of life is more important and probably something the director may gloss over because it requires more explanation.
