Dune: Part Two No Spoiler Review! 

Princess Irulans main role takes place in Dune Messiah. Kinda like how zendaya had a smaller role in Dune 1 but becomes a coco-lead in Dune 2, in the next movie Florence Pugh is gonna be a co-lead

Absolute masterpiece. I can't believe a $200M blockbuster is allowed to be this unapologetically artistic and bold

They actually arguably gave Pugh’s character more to do here than in the book

Saw it last Sunday... It's honestly a masterpiece. A once in a decade film. 10/10. I'm going back this Friday... First time I've been twice to a movie theater since Return of the King.

Had “Dune: Part 2” come out back in November like it was supposed to, how do you think it would’ve changed this year’s Oscar race?

I saw Dune Part 2 last night (Thursday) in the opening screening for my local AMC. This movie is audacious and stunning film making on a massive scale. The cast is outstanding and the visual effects are better than anything I have ever seen (eat your heart out Avatar!). The visuals are very effective when it comes to story telling. As Brian said, the visuals and the action is not meaningless for once! There is a particular sequence that is truly exhilarating to watch. I saw it at a regular screening and think this movie is the rare film worthy of IMAX. Dune Part 2 will be among the Best Picture nominees next year. I also think Timothée Chalamet will get his second Best Actor nomination. His performance is so strong and handles the gravity of the arc and storyline. Austin Butler is freakin' fantastic as Feyd Rautha and could have a shot as Best Supporting Actor. Denis Villeneuve will also be nominated for Best Director and deserve it! I am sure there will be a string of technical nominations for visual effects and sound. Make up and costume design are in play as well. Dune Part 2 is just that good! The other thought I had while watching this movie was, this is what Star Wars wishes it could be when it comes to the extremely high quality of film making. I am so excited to re-watch this movie for years to come and to see Dune Messiah. Go see this movie everyone!

So when the first Dune came out I was excited and I saw it on digital but to be honest I was not patient mostly because fantasy is not my type of genre so i did not finish it but i decided to see it last week and this time i turned my phone off and actually payed attention and I was captivated by the movie no it’s not my favorite but it got me excited for part so I’m planning on see it and I’ve only heard good things about it so far

Everybody seems to like the 2nd one I just watched it and actually prefer the 1st

I loved this movie. The only thing that bothered me was someone in front of me checking their phone constantly. Truly an insult to the cinematic experience as a whole.

Dune I think is comparable to Avatar. Both feature exotic alien worlds that are just so fleshed out and developed with intricate attention to detail, and no expense is spared in the visuals and audio, so when you watch the movie it feels like you're there in the world. That level of impressiveness is so good that the watching experience alone is enough to make any story issues like pacing or acting feel like minor gripes. However the difference is that unlike Avatar where the story is fairly basic and easy to digest by a mainstream audience, Dune is more slow-burn and complex. It is not a straightforward good vs evil story like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. I can easily see how a mainstream audience may get turned off when they realise the hero they were rooting for turned out to have a dark side or even become morally grey and willing to cross certain lines. For example remember how audiences reacted in Man of Steel when Superman killed Zod, the sheer controversy it raised when a hero commits an act of taking a life. So many characters in Dune are exactly like that, even the 'protagonists'.

This is cinema and best picture contender. Thats what you get not getting part 1 best picture nincompoops

Irulan will have a bigger part to play in the next movie. She is not a high character in the first Dune novel.

Maybe this would be the new subject of Dune at the oscars 2022

Honestly, not a DUNE fan either. J.R.R. Tolkien, creator of Lord of the Rings was not a fan either. Guess we are all in good company.

I thought it was very good but I had all the same issues you did. But a big improvement over one

I did not feel the length at all, I felt like it was half its actual running time!

It's a great movie but nothing compared to The Two Towers from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Villeneuve is not as excellent as Peter Jackson when it comes to dialogues.

The big what if I have is what if Dune had been released last fall as originally planned pre strike? Because the way people have been talking about it, Villeneuve probably would've been nominated for Best Director, Greig Frasier would've been nominated for cinematography, multiple acting noms, and it certainly would've up for Best Picture. I would've loved to see how it would've matched up with Oppenheimer but on the other hand I know the Academy hates sci fi for the most part.

Do you have to watch the first movie to get DUNE 2 or watch it alone???

I didnt like dune. It was huge and big and over the top but BORING Huge score, huge set pieces, huge vfxs. The story was so dull

ZzZzpectacular… The trailer gave away all of the actions scenes… nothing happens on the first hour, and a half; visually stunning, and that’s it. The narrative is basic and boring (White Savior Syndrome)-- & everybody’s eating this up just because the cinematic experience is dying; people got tired of comic books films and now they want to recycle the same story of pretty much every sci-film after Star Wars; but disguise as "ART” zzzZzz.

Watched the Dune 1984 Alternative Edition Redux again yesterday and YES it is technically not as perfect as the new Dune movie but has better music and better actors and much more magic and mysticism than the new sterile movie. Despite all the bombastic efforts, the new movie doesn't grab me! It's just pure Hollywood digital cinema that lacks the essential flair. I absolutely cannot understand why this remake has produced so many enthusiasts. Everything left me quite cold and many actors are absolutely disappointing for me. All the mental explanations won't change the fact that this remake simply lacks that certain extra something and spice❗
