Dungeon of Terror Review - Lemax Spooky Town NEW for 2023 

It's been pointed out to me that both cages should be shaking, and mine only has one doing it therefore this piece isn't working right in the video. A friend with the piece pointed out he had the same issue, and to move the dude with the cage to get the magnet to work and that did the trick. So just FYI, you may need to do this too!

The way the skeletons in the cages move is so cool! I wish Canadian Michaels had a 40% off coupon! I'd get it if they did!

Nice review Doug! I really like this piece, it's going to go very well with the carnival area. For the cages, I'm going to take the magnets out and just let the cages drop normally; the bouncing around is no bueno for me.

Doug, Man, what a ride this piece was for me (no pun intended). I was all set to buy this one this year until your video on the Wicked Garden Coven. Like you, I'm not really into the "Witch" theme. But dude, that piece was SO AMAZING and I had to get it, and again, thank you for sharing the 40% off coupon code! But getting the Coven meant I wouldn't be getting the Dungeon of Terror, just too much money for both... Until... I got two Michaels vouchers in email, one for $20 off and one for $15. At first I thought it must be a mistake, but I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a test. I added it to my cart and sure enough, both vouchers were showing up in checkout! However, if the 40% off coupon was no longer valid, I wouldn't get it. I put in the code and... IT WORKED! Got the Dungeon of Terror for $73! Still not cheap, but very reasonable :) btw, I don't know if you got to see this one in person, but the Pumpkin Patch Train is WAY MORE COOLER than I thought! Sure, it's not Tilt n' Hurl, but it gave me such a "good ol' fashioned" Halloween Farm vibe that I had to pick it up (the 40% off coupon helped with that one as well :) ) So glad you also got the Facade! That was one of the only two pieces this year I was committed to picking up (that and the Grime and Slime). Lemax, though, really had so many great sleepers this year that my wallet is sweating. If I had unlimited funds, I would also pick up Department 56's Kraken House. I didn't know just how cool the lighting was on this piece. Gotta... Control... Spending... Have a great one! vgv

Great review! I do wish they had themed it with pirates instead of ghouls. Would have been an awesome Pirates of the Caribbean type ride. The PotC ride even has a similar chase scene featuring pirates chasing damsels in distress. Definitely would have gotten it with Skull Quarry and added to my galleon. Cool backdrop!

Cool! Haven't seen in Niagara or Orillia, ON. Would likely be $200+ Canadian. 😱I CAN'T WAIT to put up my little carnival scene with the Sp. Vill. carnival scene-setter00it's jsut perfect. I'm likely going to keep my carnival old-school & nostalgic, only adding (if I can) the Eerie-Go-Round. I saw the Carousel Museum in N. Tonawanda where they used to carve all the carousel animals, and confirmed my thought that my little carnival won't be complete without a carousel. It'll go well with the Web of Terror & my beloved Tilt'n'Hurl.

Thanks Doug as always! FYI both skeletons in cages should move, I had to return my first one to get one that had both moving. I also had to move the lights around on most of the exclusive items this year…most are aimed in the wrong direction. Don’t be afraid to move them around a bit.

Great review, Doug, I love this piece. Almost makes me wish I did amusement park pieces, but just never got into them. I would love to see them use this same castle/dungeon shell and make a haunted piece, ala Castle Calvaria. Wouldn't even need the animation, just ghosts and skeletons. The structure itself is so awesome! Won't happen I know. But maybe in a few years if I find a broken one of these for a good price I can gut it and make my own. Thanks again.

Ok if the Carnival was my thing this would be a definite buy! Love all that's going on here. The two different motions going around and round. And then the cage jumping, the things flying in the back Wow!! That a lot for one building! And then they hit the lighting! I do really like this piece! Great job Lemax. Its a great piece but... There is just too much going on for me. I mean, things turns up, down, back, front... I dont even know where to look!

It looked like the skeleton’s hand is hitting the wall when going around in the circle. The one that’s chasing the 2 people.

The other cage on mine is moving more. I'll try your tip, thanks : ) I also got this one for 40% off - so surprised the coupon is still working. My store was out so I ordered it to be shipped and it came from Ft. Worth Texas.

I just got the house of shadows and boy does it look so good!

This one makes me think of the Tower of London.

This was so well done but the proportions were SO SMALL! I know there's no fixed size on villages but it seemed like it wouldn't even go with other pieces it was so disproportionate

What piece of carnival rides is more suitable with a trick or treat lane ?

Another great review Doug !!! I feel as a Carnival piece, it's a missed opportunity. I just don't think Carnival when I look at it. They should have added an entrance door with a proper Carnival-like sign on the side of the piece. Maybe even a ticket booth. It just looks too much Dungeon and not enough Carnival to me. I'll give it a B - because it is a cool looking building. Keep up the great work ! OH !! how is that Roller Coaster rehab going?

For all the pieces can you turn off the sound and just have lights? Or does it have to do both?

Did he mention if you can do the lights without sound? If so, I missed it.

the dungeon is cool, but the clickety clack sound of the dangle cages is a bit annoying
