Thank you for this very efficient review! I'm so glad to discover that this splendid game has resurfaced after all these years of obscurity! I still have the first edition which I bought back in 1984, so it's very heartening to learn that there have been so many extra features added to the whole experience. For me, one of the most attractive elements has always been the graphic artwork of the dungeon rooms themselves and in this new edition, it really has been enhanced a great deal! The card decks are now a decent size as well, so that is a huge improvement too! Well done, Fantasy Flight Game manufacturers!
I got this for christmas and love it. I love the fact that its brutal. So many times someone was ALMOST out and then died... those are hilarious moments. Nobody has finished it yet.
I picked up a copy yesterday. I cant wait to try it !! I like the fact that its one player compatable, I can use 2 to 4 characters at once, so if one dies, I just continue with the next character.
rick s I’ve recently completes my Talisman 4th edition revised colllection and picked up Heroquest and Return of the Witchlord. Digging in my closet I brought this out. Perfect escapism during this world crisis. Yeah I will play four characters at once since my game nights have been on hold since March.

I remember me and my friend playing this like 20 years ago and having a great time with it, it belonged to his older brother, Never played it again until recently. I picked up this edition and I am having a blast with this board game. It is as good as I remember it

Excelent review, very well done. Ive played this and im finally buying it in a couple weeks and cant wait. I know the randomness and low success rate turns some people off of it but personally i love those aspects of it. Its like you said, the speed of the game makes up for the player elimination. Sure you might die, but you will be ready to start a new game in 20-30 minutes at most.
actually in the previous version of the game there was an alternative for battle where you could roll dice and according to the result you'd check a chart and see what would occur.To be honest I kinda liked it better than the card system.
I've still got the original edition along with its two extensions. I've had no luck since then though in acquiring this latest updated edition. Is it still being manufactured?
This is my go to game when looking for a quick game of something to play. A big plus is that you can find a few free computer versions online as well as a really good TTS version. BTW, You can also pick up a TTS version of the original Sweedish(?) version. Some of the original rules are much better than the newer English versions
I'm interested in getting this game but... I have noticed that my friends get very easily upset/angry when things don't go their way/their character dies in Talisman, Eldritch Horror, etc. I think I have to come up with some good, invigorating speech to brace them for this game and maybe some house rules...

I was about to start playing Minecraft 1.12.2 when suddenly a splash text saying "DungeonQuest is unfair!" appeared, and now I have a raging urge to buy and play this boardgame.
wondering what the revised actually added to the game. i have the original and i'd have to say i may like it better.... but maybe only because it took so damn long to learn it in the first place. Though for the first minute you kinda had me going with that dragon, almost wanted the newer one. In the original the bottomless pit says you cross if you pass or die if you don't. for combat it's way different but kinda the same. its rock paper scissor but you can play counter attack cards and get death blows or use power cards to crush people or other random thing. when you pulled up and had to fight the guy to your left as a demon it kinda not great. does seem like they dumbed that part down a bit. I'm not sure i like it. kinda like the original better. seems a bit more flushed out. I did almost loose as the dwarf to a skeleton once. part bad decision and part huge death blow( something like 13 points i think)...
Do any of the cards give any boosts in your stats? Do you roll to move? Ie when you get turned around, do you get to choose your path if tiles are already in place and if so, how far do you get to move? Details details please. The game does not look easy to learn. All you D&Ders say the same thing. To someone like myself who has never touched a game like this, the manual, the text, all the pieces altogether make this look NOT easy to learn. There’s a lot to remember.
