Yakuza 6 is the perfect example of why games should have demos. Long story short, I was never into it because I assumed it was just GTA in Japan. Well I tried out the Y6 demo and just fell in love with both the incredibly well written main plot and the absolutely insane substories lol. I own the entire series now and it's all because they let me try it out for an hour or two free.
"this side quest should take like 10 seconds to resolve probably. Okay now I have to customize every single part of my toy car" summed up yakuza side quests pretty nicely
@@Gustavozxd13 And I did them all to completion.... except for Harukas, I just couldn't do it.... mainly as I didn't know I lost the ability to switch back to Haruka at some point
@@uglybutton6099 I went into a time warp. I spent 3 days straight a whole holiday weekend playing nothing but Cabaret Club. I forgot Yakuza 0 existed as anything but that.
Nah, man. Doing things you enjoy isn't a waste of time, and money isn't everything. People and relationships are. If a person actually cares that you are making money, that makes them a pimp, and you should stay very far away from them even if they wear cool clothes.
Kind of why the last entries leaving out Ichiban's game are weaker, 6 has even less karaoke, no pocket racing and almost no Majima till a couple of minutes at the end
As a person who has seen a lot of Yakuza videos and some memes along with playing Yakuza 0 I can confirm that this is 100% accurate and true with all the games in the franchise
Awesome, very right, i want to say Majima is his greatest Living ally, while Shintiro Kazuma is his greatest spiritual ally. But i think after 3 Shintiro kinda fades away. Granted some people in 2 were enemies of him and went after Kiryu as some bonus revenge.
I mean, considering what Majima survives in this video, I wonder if that's because of Kiryu's personal code or simply that he CAN'T, no matter how hard he tries.
Dunkey’s taste for outro music is one of the things that make his videos so special. I never could have imagined that the theme song to the Don Quijote convenient store chain would be such a perfect fit, it literally spells out dun-dun-dun-key
i love how dunkey has to break characters several times to let us know they really are friends and its not just dunkey making shit up to be funny cause the comedy is so similar to what dunkey would randomly come up with off the top of his head.
Every day is a terrible day when you realize dunkey hasn’t made a dunkview on the videogame Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Instead he makes his 13th cooking with Don Cheadle video, why cook with Don Cheadle if you could spend that valuable time making a review on the videogame Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze? Actually, Yakuza is pretty cool. I’ll let this one slide, Jason
0:17 I like how in Kiwami 1 Kiryu gets instantly knocked out with the baton, while in Kiwami 2 where they literally break a bottle on his head he doesnt feel a thing
@@Maruwyn That's actually real tho, your bones compact and strength the more you damage them witohut completely breaking. The problem is you have a soft brain inside there.
8:03 That laugh Dunkey made seeing a picture of a younger Kiryu and younger Fighter sounded so genuine. Like he fell in love with the series already seeing that.
Top comments didn’t mention how perfect that outro song is. It’s the theme song of Don Quijote, the beloved Japanese discount store found in Japan and Hawaii. As you walk through the store’s massive halls of floor-to-ceiling goods or getting boba and hachiko taiyaki, you’ll hear this song again and again.
i plat'd 4 of the Yakuza games and have like 2,000 hours played. Pocket circuit is amazing. compare it to shit like 4's cochin cup or Kenzan's turtle racing and you realize just how GOOD it is
Before playaing this game, I actually thought the Majima pole dancing and that girl running away like she's in fast forward were all mods. Now my eyes have been opened to this game's greatness
It is man, I've played it everyday just because I love fighting my best friend Goro Majima. Soundtrack is phenomenal, story is great, combats engaging, and there's so much to do. Best series I've ever had the pleasure to play.
I love how some people decided to indulge themselves into this whole ass franchise after so many years of the original game's release. I myself played Yakuza 0 a few weeks ago and rn steadily making my way through every god damn game. Hope you're enjoying your playthrough Dunkey!
Shenmue was bad in itself but it was also a template for other dev to make better and now there a bunch of games that got inspired by it. It literally revolutionized the gaming industry even if it was a terrible game.
The video cut right to a Domino's ad at 5:19 and then came right back to the close-up of Kiryu on the phone. I was half-expecting Dunkey make a joke about ordering some pizza first; it all felt like one big bit. Edit: I finished writing my comment and went back to watching, and of course he did pretty much exactly that. 1020 yen/10
That was actually kind of a sweet speech at 5:41 about racing. Don't give up on what makes you happy because you feel like you have to fit in with the "adults".
@@pennyprince Th best one depends on the person. For me it was 0 and 4. If you're talking about big cities then try playing till Yakuza 5 since it has like 5 cities and 5 protag.
Easily one of my favorite games of all time and probably my favorite game series of all time. It's so melodramatic and cheesy but even the little bits of Nishiki in Dunkey's video made me tear up a bit remembering. Latest one had you fighting a giant renegade Roomba that was vacuuming up an elderly lady too, so highly recommend.
@@cullenpinney2997 Kinda feel sorry for you, turn based combat did divided fanbase, im really thankfull that im just one of those who didnt mind, hope that atleast you found story interesting
This is the perfect way to start my Week! When Dunkey talks Coconut Cream pies, Soupa Mario Bruddahs 2, and Yakuza then all my dreams will come true! I sing for you Dunk, Truly I sing for you.... Great Outro song choice btw 🥃
I can actually relate to the Shinji part now. I was playing zero and I was supposed to meet Oda for drinks, but instead, I decided to play the business mini-game for a week before I even bothered to go.
I only realized recently how much I love and appreciate Dunky's individuality on this platform, I can watch a full funny video, or a nice blend of critical analysis and jokes. Thank you Dunko
The Yakuza series is a masterpiece. Yes, it re-uses A LOT, but over the years they have added and added to it, and you can really feel that when it comes to something like yakuza 5.
Kiwami 2 Majima Saga where Majima and Ryuji make mentions of each other as respectable badasses is flat out the best development from making the most enormous lad in the series (not counting Gary) a pant stealer.
A lot of people forget how niche these games used to be. Hell, at the time of Yakuza 4 and 5 the likelihood of them even getting an english release was looking bleak. So the game budgets were smaller. It was, imo, one of the biggest shames in gaming and the fact that it's now so beloved is one hell of a redemption arch. I expect the next Yakuza to have a far larger scope and budget!
@@sausagesausage oh yeah. I remember yakuza 5 taking so so sooo long to come out. I’m glad it happend. But it was really 0 that pushed this game to the masses. And rightly so. I do feel since dragon engine the game has lost a bit of charm, but its still great.
9:53 Your outro song selection is ingenious. It is the theme song from Don Don Donki, which is a famous Japanese supermarket that always loops said theme song in the store. Picking this song to end your video is so fitting and hilarious
0:35 New York Style Hamburger, as the poster clearly depicts, involves the meat patty being ABOVE the toppings. This is a reference to how everyone in New York eats like a psychopath.
2:35 I was at work the other day and I've had this job for 4 years. My coworker has had it for 20 years. He asked what I make. $16.50 per hour. He's worked here 16 years longer and earns the same as I do. :(
This game franchise will jump between complete seriousness and the most crazy stuff you'll experience in a game and I AM HERE FOR IT. Hearing the Don Quijote jingle at the end genuinely made me start dancing. I felt so betrayed when it was replaced in Like A Dragon.
After finishing up the series recently myself, majima has some of the easily funniest moments and memorable moments! so much so that at the end the saddest part was I wouldn't be able to see his antics anymore I was somewhat rooting for nishikiyama because his story was so tragic All the bowling, breaker battles and him breaking my neck numerous times truly the greatest friendship I've ever witnessed Amajima falling into the ocean n kiryu not checking on him was so COLD
Didn't try the Yakuza series till about 5 years ago, have played them all now and I love them even though they are very similar it's just so much goofy fun with a deadly serious story line.
dude this is actually one of your best videos just for the amount of memories i have with yakuza 0 and my dad and i playing it :DD He stills plays it to this day he actually played last night :0
Big thanks for the spoiler warning. I was just starting the game when you uploaded this so not having literally the entire game spoiled cause i watched was great. Came back and enjoyed this a lot
