We really need more actual arcades in retro collections where the games need to be walked up to by a player character as opposed to being just a menu screen.
considering how there's a lot of games out there with a lot of replayability despite microscopic file sizes, this stuff actually sounds really cool lmao. something like the original mario bros was 32 kilobytes and DOOM was around 2 and a half megabytes.
@@Yaboibeef it's not a sad game overall, it was also really funny and had me at the edge of the seat. It's just the final scene had some bittersweet emotional payoff if you played yakuza 0-3
@@theyfried7256 Kson is a popular Japanese streamer. She won a competition to become one of the hostess girls in this games and is the woman in the red dress in that section of the video.
@@theyfried7256 Kson, the actress for Kei is a famous Japanese livestreamer, who previously was also an extremely succesful hololive vtuber. She has consistently noted herself as a big fan of the Yakuza series with Kiryu being her "husband". Hell her vtuber avatar was literally a dragon named Kyriu Coco, so she is not exactly subtle about it either. In recent years due to her popularity she became something of a brand ambassador for Yakuza and her recent role in the dating sim is the current final step in that. She will probably get more roles in future games as well, since it seems her character was quite successful.
Meanwhile I've been playing Yakuza: The Man Who Forgot His Plate, a game about a guy who misplaces his tableware around the streets of Tokyo. It's nice to know Dunkey's using them to eat his okonomiyaki at least.
I love how he spends a significant portion of the video just playing the arcade games, it's the perfect way to demonstrate the essence of the Yakuza franchise.
I'm glad I watched this video, it got me to play this on game pass. Just beat it and I was crying my eyes out, definitely recommend this to any long time Yakuza fans.
a 15 minute vertical slice of what every yakuza game is like. Walking a fine line between serious crime drama and ridiculous absurdity and I love it forever.
this style of video is so refreshing & endlessly entertaining. it’s just a buffet of you riffing every other scene with all your years of experiencing video game bullshit making them dry as hell. love it man
For a man who forgot his name, he reminds everyone not to forget it, by doing things that people remember that one guy doing, all the while still forgetting his name.
the way that he could've just take the beat up and so the enemy spread the word "that weakling ain't Kiryu" could do him favor, but fight is one of his great instinct i guess
I can handle Persona in English because of its aesthetic and fantasy elements. The Yakuza series has always been so very Japanese and grounded in reality despite the melodrama and silliness though, so hearing the characters speaking English just doesn't seem right. I think it's mostly that I've just become too used to hearing these characters in Japanese. Also, Kiryu is looking good for someone in, what, their mid 50's? lol
Yong Yea is such an awful pick for Kiryu. It sounds like a 30 year old man child trying to act like a grizzled 52 year old killer. It sounds off and I didn’t even know who tf he was until I heard his awful portrayal as Kiryu.
Cracking up over that "Thug who thinks Society is a joke". Here I thought he was just planning a revolution but turns out, he's just planning for a comedy stand up act.
I didn't see this video under the tree until after I opened all my other presents which worked out perfectly because I saved the best for last. Merry Xmas Jason and family!
I liked the part where the man who forgot his own name said "I forgot my own name!" and then adult protective services had to look for him all over the place
thanks for highlighting the fighting arcade games and how they are stronger than anything in any game I've ever fought before actual demons on those CPUs
13:05 You see this scene is the most important part of the game, so of course they would want it to look the best. They made the right choice using all the ray graphics on it. And Merry Christmas, we got an awesome 14 min video gift from Dunkey!!
I think a lot of people just think it was underappreciated to be fair. We got the numbers for the that at least, since this is a top comment. Will look into this more
