Duran Duran really kicked off the 80s British invasion on MTV! Their sound. Their videos. Their look. It was all too perfect for the new thing called a music video!!😎
This is Duran Duran at its finest. Well almost because we need to add the reflex, skin trade , notorious and please tell me now. Love this band with all my heart .
This is one of 3 videos that are off of the album Rio, that was filmed in Sri Lanka. The other two are Hungry Like the Wolf, which is arguably their most well known hit. The last is called Lonely in Your Nightmare and it's a great song as well. The two DD songs you've reacted to as of yet have been the more vibey/mood music they are known for. The other side of DD are more high energy bops. React to the official video for Rio next and you will see what I mean. Btw, this song is about a one night stand. Basically he's saying...let's not think or worry about anything else tonight...save a prayer for tomorrow.
This song was the second single of thier second album ''Rio'', and was thier breakthrought worldwide. THe record company think to this song was not enough radios friendly to be a single in US (since it's was a non-US single) so the song was not released in US in single. The others singles of this album was released in US ''Hungry Like a Wolf'' and the title track, the first did very well and the next was also a hit. It's was only a single has a live version and was a top 20 hit in 1985.
FOREVEROBSESSED w/ Duran Duran. This video was breathtaking! I was a superfan of them in the 80's & 90's, so I was thrilled that the lead singer Simon Le Bon made a private appointment to visit my design studio around 2000 for clothes to wear on tour...he was beyond sweet.
FOREVEROBSESSED, lucky you! They are all very cool guys despite their wild times in the 1980's. They survived it and can perform and talk about it all today with smiles.
That era was gold for music, especially coming from UK, Duran Duran are legends. There’s a band who had one major hit from the 80’s British Invasion called ‘Too Shy’ by Kajagoogoo. Top the charts in some countries but mostly top 10 nearly everywhere else. Hit No.5 in the US. So they were doing something right? Lol Fun groovy track. I think you will like it.
I love Duran Duran! I’m a lifetime Duranie! I love this song and video! They are in Sri Lanka and it’s a beautiful place! This song is off their iconic Rio album and most of those videos were in very exotic locations! This song is about two lonely people meeting by chance and having a one night stand! Your reaction was great!! ❤️❤️
Was never a big Nick Rhodes fan but that synth pitch bend is such a hook. As usual, a great bassline from John Taylor. Early Duran Duran was kind of a lighter, more radio friendly take on Japan. "Last Chance on the Stairway" is a favorite that gets forgotten.
Thank you Empress for reacting to one of my favorite bands! Here are some other songs of theirs: Violence Of Summer, Meet El Presidente, The Reflex, New Moon On Monday, Union Of The Snake, Wild Boys, Rio, Electric Barbarella, Girls On Film, Notorious, A View To A Kill (the only number 1 James Bond hit), Skin Trade, Is There Something I Should Know, Come Undone, Ordinary World, Hungry Like The Wolf, Falling Down, Planet Earth, Serious, I Don't Want Your Love, All She Wants Is, Invisible, Out Of My Mind.
Duran Duran, Wham!, Culture Club really dominated the early 80s. This song\video was played a lot on MTV. One of their best songs. The Reflex and A View To A Kill are my favorite.
Great song featuring Nick Rhodes at his synthesizing best. Simon must've been in a pensive mood when he penned these lyrics. He goes round and round with visual descriptions and a tense storyline -- then near the end he admits it's a one-night stand (but they can call it paradise) ...
good song by a band deeply influenced by Roxy Music and they're also pioneers of music video making some of the best videos of all time (hungry like the wolf etc) that look as fresh as the day they were released
