OMG this is one of my favorite songs of my youth! One of the biggest groups of the 80s! "Ordinary World" is another great song from them. They had a lot of songs that were huge hits. Definitely worth a dive into one of the bands that defined the 80s.
Duran Duran 🎉🎉🎉front man is Simon lebon Voice amazing Vocals cords fantastic brilliant awesome amazing this track is of Rio album one of there biggest albums 🎉🎉🎉they av a massive huge band on planet earth they av sold over 100 million plus albums they av received so so so awards and last year they were introduced to hall rock of fame they won the most votes on the the fan base listen to Rio hungry like the wolf planet earth ordinary world come on done notorious wild boys the reflex oh the list is non stop 🛑 so I've been a die hard Duranie since 1981 I was 12 years old now im 55 years old 🗝️ still a die hard Duranie they are still touring selling out stadiums and arenas 🎉🎉🎉they are truly awesome amazing epic brilliant musicians enjoy buddy thx for a epic review 🎉🎉🎉
They still play Save a Prayer at their concerts and everyone busts out their cell phone flashlight (used to be lighters in the 80s/90s LOL). An absolute classic from a band that has SO MANY hits and amazing songs. I went to their concert in Detroit this past September and they were awesome as usual. ❤
Uber-hot in the 80's through the 90's. Beautiful instrumentation. I think you'll love "Ordinary World". Even more majestic and complex. Great reaction!
Simon’s harmonies here are incredible, hauntingly beautiful, and John’s bass line is a mini-song in itself. Some of DD’s best songs have a moody/dark edge to them, even their dance tunes.
Duran Duran is *quintessential* 80s music. They helped set the tone for the decade. Do not sleep on these guys. Many great songs just as good as this: "Hungry Like The Wolf" "Come Undone" just to name a couple. And stick with the videos that come with. They produced some of the best videos of the 80s.
And still going wow wow wow Simon lebon Voice amazing Vocals cords fantastic brilliant awesome epic been a die hard Duranie now 43 years best band 2 cum from the UK just luv um wow wow wow
Duran Duran was huge, with many hits. This is a terrific song by them, but one of their slower numbers, yet still intense and captivating. That's a difficult trick to pull off. I would suggest one of their more upbeat songs for your next reaction, the amazing "The Wild Boys." It hits hard, and the video is great. ❤✌
The whole "Rio" LP takes me back to the balmy summer days of the early 80s. I have just left school and full of dreams. Non came true but I only have to listen to one of the songs and I am full of hope again. Love it.
My favourite Duran Duran songs are 1) Save a Prayer 2)Ordinary World 3) Rio. Save a Prayer has such a gorgeous mood, even if it was just an instrumental. The video makes it even better.
Taken from Sonja Srinivasan's blog explaining why Duran Duran was so big in early 80s and why their musicianship was somehow overlooked: "For girls of a certain age, Duran Duran was when we learned we had hormones. There was endless discussion over the phone or in carefully folded notes passed surreptitiously in class or at slumber parties about which one was the most gorgeous: most popular were Simon Lebon and John Taylor, with some in favor of Nick Rhodes, and the occasional Roger Taylor fan, but poor Andy Taylor was usually left out of the discussion. And who didn’t love them? Handsome men in videos shot in exotic locales with singable melodies and catchy refrains. But recently, while unpacking after a move, I began to watch not only old and new videos of their songs, but also listen to and watch interviews with three of the four original members (Andy Taylor departed long ago, and Roger is usually stumm.) And I was quite surprised to discover their true artistry, and how profoundly intelligent and talented the band members are. Perhaps this has been Duran Duran’s curse-their good looks and supermodel-filled videos have detracted from their musicianship and their powers as artists."
My favorite Duran Duran song. I've been hoping for a 12 minute extended version with some more rock elements while keeping all the exotic beauty. Love this.
One of my all time favorite combinations of song and video. Love that they didn't overshoot the band and let the beautiful scenery of Sri Lanka shine through.
Just because a song isn't fast, doesn't make it sad. This is moody and sensual. It evokes a mystical dreamy feel and is a fan favorite by the group. It was a #2 hit in the UK in 1982 and their biggest hit there at the time though they had two prior top ten hits including Hungry Like The Wolf which is their most well-known song and hit #5.
The majority of their albums are in the good to excellent range but this tune is from their "Rio" album which is one of the most perfect pop albums in existence, considered a classic. Not a bad tune on the album, even the deep cuts are great (especially 'The Chauffeur" which is kind of a cult classic)
Well best thing with Duran They are very upbeat Duran don’t so many slow or slower songs Although there are quite of few of them but with sooooooooo many albums and other tracks by Duran you can’t go wrong Rock Pop Dance Funk Tech and other sub genres Duran have done it all And still going very very very strong today with there 16th studio album that came out just 2 months ago 😎😎😎😎
The synth buffs are still chasing after that synth riff and theme and If they have the money, the original brand and type of the synthesiser Nick Rhodes used to create it.
You should check out some more recent upbeat songs for comparison. "Black Moonlight" released only a couple of months ago, or "Pressure Off" from 2015 are great songs.
I don't think you could have chosen a better song to dive into this band. Like you they are not my usual cup of tea, but they consistently put out good songs and in England became a massive commercial success.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. You can't really put them into any genre, even tho they have been called many things. That's only because they will change things up constantly. 40+ years of making music, they have literally dabbled in EVERYTHING. You have a hell of a road to travel with these guys, but I will go ahead and recommend Rio from the same album.
Imteresting. The background music is very creative, multi-layered. A little repetitive near the end. Not my vibe particularly, kind of soul-less. But I'd definitely listen again to get into the lyrics, then maybe again to do it watching the cinematic effects and scenes (this time I just listened to the audio as the first minute or two were kind of loaded).
They have just released a new album. Andy Taylor is still a part of the band but not in the current line up cause he is battling cancer. There name is the name of the villain in Jane Fonda's b movie style syfy Barbarella which the band also have a song called Barbarella. Would love you to check their early songs.planet earth,is there something I should know, girls on film. The official video for wild boys was a big deal and was based on mad max beyond the thunder dome movie. Checkout their rivals Spandau ballet.
I think you'd really enjoy Come Undone, Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, and Notorious. My absolute favorite is Ordinary World. Just my opinion, but I don't like the official music video for Ordinary World. To me, it detracts from lyrics that strike deep. I suggest finding a lyric video instead.
@@mitzifrancis9843 The wedding theme doesn't fit for me either...and the general atmosphere of it with the flashing lights, etc. doesn't work for me with such a melancholy song.
Sorry Dude but the 21st century bands composition doesn`t reach the level like this anymore BUT KEEP Rockin the Reactions Shawn & Giddyup SHAWN SALVADORRI
