There is a common misunderstanding where nearly everyone thinks the Terrans we fought in Protoss expansion mission 4 is the UED despite this mission where it's explained that the planet is occupied by the Dominion and UED is here to take control of Braxis. Protoss fought the Dominion on the surface of the planet, not the UED.
cant really blame them sense the UED has a blockade on the planet immedeatly after, and zeratul saying these terran only arrived recently to the planet doesnt help either im betting, heh so now we have duran and his CRF's, the captain player, who will be player 3, im guessing just stukov into dugalle later on and then the CRF stays as it without duran for the final mission
My favorite campaign in Starcraft 1. I always liked the (tragic) dynamic between DuGalle and Stukov. Their characters feel the most human and understandable.
Id like to think that incident with the Protoss during the Uraj search was what prompted them to wake up the Captain, thus bringing up the competency level of the UED to two people. The other one is Stukov. Possibly three if we count that medic from Heroes of the Storm.
Meanwhile, on StarCraft Alternate… The Combined Zerus Packs arrive at the rest of the Koprulu Sector to claim the essence of all living beings residing in it, but mainly to defeat the "Broken Pack" that is the Infinity Swarm. A duo of Pack Leaders is tasked with invading Maltair IV and taking the essence and intel of the Corrupted Zerg there. During this, they encounter and ally with Infested Raszagal's Brood supposedly from the old Overmind's Swarm that has been rebelling against Kerrigan's Infinity Swarm. Once the Swarm Hive Cluster has been eradicated and seized, the Zerus Packs claim their essence, and take Raszagal into their fold.
For how different and unsettling the primals are, it always amused me in Alternate how they just accepted right away Razagal being an infested Protoss, and the later realization that she, in fact, was not infested.
@@myriadmediamusingsExactly, had she been infested she would not have any shields. They should have noticed that she had shields and was an evil Protoss all along.
Everyone always speaks of this UED fleet as an exploratory expedition. Because of this some people think that if Earth sent an actual tactical militarty team it would be OP. However reading the opening dialogue Gerard DuGalle apperently was the best Admiral they had. Interesting...
To be fair, there aren't much information about the UED. The ones who say that think this is a power fantasy, lol... I believe they would do fairly better than the Dominion, but they don't seem to have a chance against Protoss or Zerg.
@@ExecutorNral IMO the UED would have taken over the sector if not some meddling kid... I mean desperate alliance between Fenix, Raynor, Mengsk and Kerrigan. (Also I believe alternate ending where Mengsk is first to betray everyone most likely to occur) Brood War has a beautiful subplot about pride. Dugalle's pride and dedication to the mission got the best of him. He was quick to believe Duran backing it up by indirect evidence. Also his pride got everyone of his men killed given he would have easily escaped while Kerrigan was busy with Mengsk and Artanis. He basically admits it before shooting himself. Mengsk was also manipulated by his hunger for power. He could not miss the chance to retake Korhal even it meant making someone with a personal grudge against him extremely powerful in the process. Remember Zerg's first misson : Kerrigan's minion's were killing each other due to Psi Disruption let alone she got a pet Overmind to deal with.
@@Kamenb1801 The UED were losing control over the new Overmind as it was growing. No matter what they do, they would eventually lost control and be consumed by it. As for the Protoss, they have the most advanced tech in the galaxy and can burn down planets from the orbit. Stetmann said the Protoss could rule the entire sector if they really wanted to.
I like to think that, if the wiki is of any information, the UED fought during Battle of Braxis must be Stukov's own expeditionary unit rather than the whole UED, and the UED in this mission should be DuGalle's entire expeditionary unit, so therefore maybe Stukov was just chilling somewhere in space (drinking vodka) waiting for DuGalle and the whole expedition to arrive I guess?
Duran: intimate... something-something... to the rear... DuGalle: We shall see if he's worth the effort Stukov: Of course, my love DuGalle: What?! Stukov: I mean, of course, my liege
Looks like you were the lucky player to get the rockin' Blue army. I always found it a shame that when you reached that base, it was turned Brown when placed under your control (as opposed to retaining their colors like other "liberated" units).
Look up the mod UEDAIP. While they still share buildings, SCVs, and Dropships with the Koprulu Terrans, the mod gives the UED their own unique set of units to work with, and a lot of unique upgrades. It's a very difficult mod, but it does a lot of very cool things, and a fair amount of Quality of Life, and various balance changes. Particularly notable: The UED can be played in Melee maps with the mod, and even works online so long as everyone in the game is using the same version of the mod. Terran players are defined as either Koprulu or UED in melee games based on their player color.
DuGalle "Should we fail in our mission here, not one of us is going home!" *DuGalle when he is finally defeated at the end of the Zerg Campaign of the Brood War* "We must make the long trip home to Earth!" *Kerrigan then proceeds to kill them* So DuGalle was correct, they were not going to go home, but because of Kerrigan's ruthlessness, not because of some ultimatum.
I have a question, at first 2 ally players don't have gas geyser, but after duran joins UED forces, it seems that they have gas income. how do they get gas income?
