The greatness of this sculpture of Ram Lalla is it is an integration of all 6 Margas of Bharatam It has Brahma with swan(Saraswati), Vishnu, Arthanareeswara with Skanda, Ganapathy, Surya depicted by the Prabhavali behind Rama’s face, Vishnu’s ayudham Sudharshana, Shanku, Ghadhai, For auspiciousness Ashtalakshmi, for indicating Primordial nature of supreme the Pranava, Swastika, the two eternal servants of Vishnu both Hanuman and Garuda. Generally Garuda will be in the right side of Vishnu. But since in Ramavatar, hanuman was Rama’s right hand, the sculptor has captured this that way. This is an image depicting 1. Creation, Sustinance, destruction 2. It specifies knowledge, power and wealth 3. Integrates all the 6 Vedha Margas Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktham, Ganapathyam, skanda, Sourabham. Murti isn't idol... Let us reflect on the real meaning of mūrti as per the eternal Vedic philosophy. There is a most intimate part of the power of God, called the purest substance or viśuddha satva (विशुद्ध सत्व ). It is divine. There is a material substance also, which is a part of Maya and that is sattva (सत्व). We are not talking about that. God has three internal powers 1. saṃdhinī śakti (संधिनी शक्ति) - His potency of eternal existence 2. saṃvita śakti (संवित शक्ति) - His potency of knowledge 3. hlādinī śakti (ह्लादिनी शक्ति) - His potency of bliss When the purest form gets endowed with these powers it manifests various aspects 1. When saṃdhinī śaktii becomes predominant in viśuddha satva, it is called ādhāra (आधार) or base. All the abodes (loka) exist there. 2. When saṃvita śakti becomes predominant in viśuddha satva, it is called ātma vidyā (आत्म विद्या) or science of self. Then it is provides knowledge of self. 3. When hlādinī śakti becomes predominant in viśuddha satva, it is called guhya vidya (गुह्य विद्या) which means the most confidential power. This power is bestowed upon devotees only. 4. But when all of these three personal powers of God becomes dominant in viśuddha satva, then it is called mūrti (मूर्ति) and that is the body of God. In simple words, the body of God is God Himself. Indra says, स्वच्छन्दोपात्तदेहाय विशुद्धज्ञानमूर्तये । ​सर्वस्मै सर्वबीजाय सर्वभूतात्मने नम: ॥ ​10.27.11 svacchandopāttadehāya viśuddhajñānamūrtaye । ​sarvasmai sarvabījāya sarvabhūtātmane nama: ॥ ​10.27.11 “You are a veritable mūrti of purest knowledge. Your body is not different from You. You are your body as well [4]”. When Kubja embraced Shri Krishna, she felt ​ आनंदमात्रमजहादतिवीर्यतापम् ॥ 10.48.7 ānaṃdamātramajahādativīryatāpam ॥ 10.48.7 “I embraced personified bliss”. This is a scriptural definition of murti.

Could not have got a better explanation, thanks guru. Garuda needs to stay back and take care of Narayana while the posterity needs to know that Rama belongs to central provinces. This region is geographically close to equator and before any Mughal invasions or British colonials ushering in, the population’s complexion would have generally been Shyama’s colour which means dark complexioned. When we see today’s population’s brighter complexions it owes its origin from much mixed Mughal or colonial genes. But Rama in his purest form should have been of course of Shyama colour and I feel all the Bhartiyas living around that region should relate to this fact and feel proud of it. The distorted disillusioned still living with colonial mentality are the ones crying foul over the idol. Rama’s devotees are elated and they feel their struggles are over and this is the true advent of the country that existed before Mughals or Britishers. So, carry on the legacy and showcase what Ram Rajya means to the world. And ignore people and lifestyles outside that region, focus on your maryadas. All the best.

AS Dushyant Sridhar rightly said, the smaller idol that has been worshipped in a makeshift temple is the "Utsava Murthi", the one that is taken around in public space for people to see and worship. The main idol that was consecrated in the temple will remain where it is placed for ever.
