On the note of Popular Egotist: we're getting a room with zulaport cutthroat's text, and we're getting a functional reprint of zulaport cutthroat in Foundations. Standard aristocrats could very well make a resurgence soon.
Another thing about the Floodpits Drowner is that the activated ability to shuffle it and a thing with a stun counter on it into their owner's library doesn’t require the thing with the stun counter to be an opponent's creature and it is also activatable at instant speed. So if you happen to have stun counters on your own stuff, you can use the drowner to save stuff from wraths/sunfall or other removal.
I really like Unstoppable Slasher’s design. Reanimating something tapped with some number of stun counters seems like a good way to balance out pushed self-recurring creatures.
Silent Hallcreeper doesn't work with the Impending creatures. When they're impending, they're not creatures, so you can't copy them with Hallcreeper's third ability until they're not impending anymore.
Something I'm looking forward to with Popular Egotist is that, like the Bargain spells, it's ability lets you sacrifice enchantments, which is an effect that's not all that common weirdly. Being able to run some of black's upside-with-a-downside enchantments, like Demonic Pact, the just throw them away before the bad-stuff happens is an effect I'm always happy to try out.
The Grimoire could go well with a card from Jumpstart, of all sets, Ormos, Archive Keeper. If you would draw a card with no cards in your library, instead put 5 +1/+1 counters on Ormos. This keeps you from milling yourself to death if you have "Gain a life when you draw a card" effect out, letting you draw your deck safely. And Ormos is in Historic.
One Last Job, The Grimoire, and that hexproof flier from Karlov that stops the loss from milling. Toss a sheoldred on the battlefield and just get to play with your entire deck in your hand.
@@danielguveiyian Initially was remembering One Last Job incorrectly, that it worked for artifacts. Though, we do have artifact reanimiation. However, concept is having living conundrum on the battlefield, and looping something with the grimoire to draw your deck. Living Conundrum says if you would draw cards when your library has zero cards in it, you skip the draw instead. It also turns into a 10/10 flying, hexproof beater when your library is empty. Technically, since all of these are permanents, you could run a ramp deck with Over The Top as the finisher. Just fill the board with tokens, and end up with your board on the battlefield.
Untimely Malfunction actually seems insane. I might be way overvaluing it. But the fact that it can negate a removal spell + remove a hostile creature, stop counterspells, blow up artifacts, AND potentially sneak through lethal damage is crazy!
One way I could see the Silent Hallcreeper working really well is if you give it double strike while you have a creature that has a powerful combat damage trigger. On the first hit it changes into the other creature, and the second hit gives you the powerful trigger.
Last note about Haunted Screen since I didn't find it in a quick glance at the comments: 7 mana and 7 counters could be a reference to Samara calling her victims telling them "7 days" before they die in The Ring.
8:45 Seth forgeting labrotory maniac is a card along with there being other cards like this. While not especially powerful and definitely against the odds that means: Sheoldred, Labrotory Maniac, and Grimiore is a 3 card win the game on the spot. Now seth needs to play it hahaha
My idea: Add Marina's Grimoire to the discard deck currently going around in standard along with coveted falcon and a pinger (like that lizard landfall one). Strip your opponent's hand, give them the grimoire, ping them to win.
@@MunchKING When two replacement triggers happen at the same time, you can choose which one triggers. So If you have a permanent that says Creatures you control have persist. But also another permanent that says Creatures you control have undying. Both are abilities that bring back the card so only one can trigger, So alternating them makes it infinite. Tgis guy has a returnal ability that would stack with Mikaeus's undying. I am going to wait to see the rulings though.
@@gawbe It only works with Undying once though, because then he has a +1/+1 counter on him so Undying won't trigger again, and his ability which cares if he has any counters on him won't trigger either.
I love the flavor of Haunted Screen, but not only is it a worse than default mana rock, it’s only playable in WUBRG commander decks because it specifically shows the pips instead of saying “any color”
Thank you for the spoiler review :) With not fault to any of the Goldfish crew, does anyone else feel burnt out by Sheoldred? It feels like everything is just better with that card. Tired of seeing it, thinking about it, etc. D: It's tough to escape it too, since it's good in the formats that I play. I understand this is a very biased comment but just sharing my thoughts!
A lot of players keep evaluating these new Delirum cards super highly (only looking at the ceiling) and not thinking about how much efficient graveyard hate is going to be available in the format.
My grimoire idea I have brewing is Brallin and shabraz commanders, a creature or spell that allows me to cast sorceries with flash e.g wizards of thay and fractured identity....( Idea is to cast the grimoire with both commanders and the creature allowing flash on the field triggering the lifegain of shabraz drawing cards rinse and repeat untill you have say 20 or so cards then fractured identity the grimoire....go to end step and as you don't have maximum hand size anymore discard down triggering Brallin to ping your opponents causing them to discard their hands and lose the game) Will take a while to brew it to be consistent but people won't see it comming
6:03 One downside of grimoire is it doesn't have hex proof. If you're at 0 or less life and your opponent has a naturalize in hand, you're dead. This is not so with Lich's Mastery.
I think you either read my comment wrong or read the card wrong. I've never played with Lich's Mastery myself, so I don't know how often it is that the user goes down below 0 life anyways with this type of card.
@@collinbeal I see the heartfire hero and emberheart challenger a lot, but I don’t see very many Mouse typal decks and I almost always beat them. Lizards are better because they have reach and disruption. They don’t need to attack to kill you.
Ride is busted tern three and guaranteed turn four. Red black and fetch lands. And you’ll be able to wrath the board every turn after that, and there is red cards already out there that can repeatedly do one damage. 4:29
Doesn't Living Conundrum makes it so you can't lose to the sheoldred combo in standard then you just get a 10/10 on top of 50 life and every card in your deck?
I don't know if this is a printing error or someone doesn't really know what that means but egotist is not the same thing as egoist. And the flavor text actually indicates that this person is an egocetric😂
Girmoire plus library of leng. You just discard to the top of your library. Or containment construct will work to help you recast some cards potentially.
What the fuc.... Marina Grimore ... i want that so bad. It's not even mythic?! I mean i love blue decks with no hand restriction. If i just do a blue deck with ways to get my graveyard back into my library and alot of card draw. I see so many possible ways to profit of that xD... Gain Life, draw cards. Use cards to gain more life and draw more cards. Do some shennanigans and frustrate the enemy. Then push with teferi stuff or other card draw trigger effects xD... Surely going into my card draw matters commander deck. Probably my standard deck too.
You're not going to cast Roller unless it's killing something, and generally, you wouldn't be playing it in decks that can't ramp a lot of mana. Seems silly to judge it outside of those situations.
Rollercrusher Ride getting banned, watch xD It'll be a control decks sweeper and finisher, and kill creature strats. First one removal spell, second one, sweeper, third one ends the game.
I am happy unstoppable slasher is only 2 power so I can add it to my Alesha Who Smiles at death which is built around effect like it as well as silver daggers to police the table. Everyone will see it coming but its a very political deck.
