Cool idea to put them in a bar diorama. I do have my Dwarf Paladin mini on display who was disintegrated battling a devil at the end of the campaign. Fun memories as I am rarely a player.

Minis are so cool but I always worry about messing up while painting them.

You really don't have to worry. I am just really anxiety filled about it but as you see with a nice miniature it's going to look fine with basic techniques and you can always repaint them!

And you can always touch them up or strip them are repaint them later!

@@Blandco God do I have those same problems. I wish I didn’t have the same problem with my self-confidence. But I guess I feel this way because try to involve myself in writing, drawing, crafting, and painting stuff all of the stuff I want possible.

I still have my first two minis from 1972, got them for Chainmail before D&D even came out. They were Ral Partha mounted knights, painted with Pactra enamel. Had no idea what I was doing back then, but I loved it. I've always wanted to pull them out and repaint them, but something always said to leave them "as is" as a reminder for how long I've been doing this.

A clean drybrush is quite effective for removing dust from miniatures. Then, if there's still dust in the nooks and crannies, you can use a smaller, damp brush to remove the rest. Also, if you think a miniature is too glossy, you coukd give it a coat of satin or matt varnish. I use the ones from Vallejo and apply them with a brush. I sometimes like to have parts of a miniature look more glossy and other parts more matt. Oh, and the glossy, satin and matt varnishes can be mixed in order to get just the right finish. Aaaand... cool minis and background info by the way. Now I want to create a tavern, too ;)

A large makeup brush works great for dusting figures. I had picked a huge one up for dry brushing, but it was too large. But it works great for dusting figures.

I love everything about this video man. You've got real depth and soul, two things that are in short supply when it comes to the current titans of our hobbies. Through your personal stories you were able to convey a deep appreciation for not only roleplaying in general, but an enthusiasm to experiment with playing different roles while playing roleplaying games. I've seen a lot of your videos, and I think this is the first one that left me feeling like I got to a little bit more about you, and how you connect through gaming. It was cool feeling like I passed an insight check into your character by getting to know the character of your characters, so to speak. At least that's how I see it, for whatever that's worth. In the end, I hope there are more videos like this in your future.

I like your tavern setup. I want to make my own tavern to showcase my own player characters. Most of my characters are prepainted Hasbro or Wizkids that ended up back in my DM miniatures. As a long time default DM I have more DM PCS than I have player characters. I only recently started painting my own miniatures so any future characters will definitely get a little diorama of some sort.

My favorite former character was a half orc in AD&D 2e. He had low Int with above average Wis. So he could understand a lot of what was going on, but really struggled to help others understand.

Have you tried using a large makeup brush to clean the dust off the miniatures?
