Dwyane Wade (The Miami Heat) shares a couple great Kobe Bryant stories including one from the 2008 Olympics. Subscribe to The Old Man and The Three with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter on Apple and Spotify.
People have the nerve to call Kobe selfish. He gave his life to the game of basketball. Literally. He had every right to demand the best from his peers and to take matters into his own hands because no one worked harder than him.
It's not selfish if you study harder than anyone else. I understand now why Kobe took so many shots during games. He looked around and saw that his teammates were not putting in the same level of effort as he was, so he bet on himself and took the shots. I'm not saying it was the right decision, but I can understand why he did it, even if it would have been smarter to make the pass.
A 3 time back to back to back champion nonetheless and at 24 when other superstars are barely even getting their legacy off the ground To think Kobe at such a young age was on the biggest stage of them all, dominating and even outshining Shaq sometimes is so special
@bee boo The dude above you used MLK as an example because MLK is known to have cheated on his wife before as well, the same as Kobe. But you said Kobe only has "3 legitimate championships" so that says enough about the credibility of your opinions
This is the most underrated part of kobe's character imo. Theres this OG wnba player who has a kobe story where he went to her for advice on taking care of his body as he ages and stuff. Gary peyton has a story about kobe asking him for advice on his post moves. Everyone has a story about kobe asking them for help or advice. And for a guy as confident as he is, that's unheard of.
There was/is a conspiracy against Kobe's legacy @ ESPN, FoxSports..etc.... ESPN even skews stats to eliminate Kobe at times in comparison to great feats by other players
@@pfunk42 if you have any videos or articles, please share at journalismisalive@gmail.com I been saying this for years. A lot of mainstream media disrespected his legacy
It’s insane that Kobe was the best player in the league but also worked the hardest out of everyone. You would think once you reach the top you can take your foot off the gas a little but he never stopped. Legend.
Dee Brown just as Kobe chased after Jordan and Wade chased after Kobe, it was Wades turn to be the inspiration for the younger generation, it was his turn to be chased.
@@bobbyg1288 The thing is when jordan retired he kept on going striving to be the best no matter what happened to his body. Whether winning rings with broken bones or being hated by millions he kept going he kept trying to chase after jordan until his body finally succumbed to an achillies injury which he still tried to play in until gary vitty and his wife convinced him he was done.. Wade on the other hand he took his gas off the peddle and left with so much game in him.
ThePismokook I think kobe has the skill set and drive to be the best. Especially hearing his peers respect him, that means a lot about his game. I think Kobe would have a higher level of respect if he had 3 or 4 final MVPs.
Because he was a copy cat, which there isn’t anything wrong with that. He’s great but also. He wasn’t always the best player on his team hence(2000,2001,2002)
@@erictolbert4769 I didn't say he was as good as Kobe, just he mentally and physically could have a conversation with Kobe and relate probably on most (not all) levels. This is even what D-Wade's saying in this intvw, and that's why I agree, but humbly you are entitled to disagree
Don’t listen to Nick Wright and the NBA media.... they’ll convince you Kobe isn’t even a top 10 players smh disrespectful. The Greats know he’s great and that’s all that matters
For me, I used to argue with my dude and my cousin about Kobe vs. Wade. It was like Ali vs. Frazier. To hear Wade credit Kobe and pay respect is refreshing. Wish Kobe was still here.
Kobe didn't just mimic Mike, he took pieces from many players. Apparently even d-wade. He was a student of the game. Stop disrespecting the man because you think all he did was copy someone
Kobe watched mj, Iverson, Nick van excel, Hakeem, Jerry west, big o, Elgin Baylor, Gary Payton, d wade, etc. He used everything to his advantage and learned from everyone.
i love seeing D. Wade speaking so respectfully of Kobe as well of the mutual respect between the two. D. Wade is one of the best 2 guards i have ever seen come into the league and make noise right away.. I've been watching the NBA since 1986. love what he said as well as much respect to the raw talent and skill D. Wade possessed. R.I.P. Black Mamba & GiGi.
Kobe impacted my life so much even though i’ve never met him, obviously. it’s crazy how he’s gone. i can’t believe it still. basketball isn’t the same for me and never will be
I love hearing players insight of the game. Kobe did something unselfish and beneficial to the team so Wade could eat but it don’t show up as an Assist or a stat. This why u can’t just box score these players into a box.
Almost every couple of weeks I search to find the latest video discussion, interview, or someone talking about Kobe. I never knew how fond I was of him until he left us.
@K Liu Why would you “ring chase” if a prime Shaq is your teammate and you play for a storied franchise, the Lakers. The Lakers are 1-5 franchise IN ALL OF SPORT. Why would you ring chase if you had the GREATEST COACH OF ALL TIME, coaching you? STOP IT! Kobe is an animal one of the greatest to ever play the game. But he had NO REASON to ring chase. And to be honest he threatened the Lakers to leave and go play for the Bulls if they didn’t trade Shaq.
Kobe embraced Jordan's "No one is gonna outwork me" ethic, he was a man of his word.. It goes from mind to body & turns man into machine, programmed to not lose & never satisfied!! We're all watching a different level of motivation from players now thank's to The Last Dance, Kobe read the script a looong time ago and learned from his peers ..
funny how armchair analysts pull up random stats and numbers to discredit kobe but many of the greatest to ever play the game constantly praise kobe as one of the goats
It's inspiring listening to guys talk about Kobe like that. ESPN started this narrative of Jordan vs LeBron. It makes them a lot of money. But the players and real fans know that LeBron hasn't leapfrogged Kobe yet
@@Bigdaddy-nh7mb D Wade won his first ring way before Lebron joined the Heat. And that playoff run was legendary. No disrespect to Harden but wade has more championship pedigree than him
@@Bigdaddy-nh7mb Harden isn't better offensively. Go watch Wade win his first finals. Go watch what he did to the Mavs on the NBA's biggest stage. Now go watch how Harden has failed time and again in the finals.
SSA INVINCIBLEx uhh it’s a future hof talking about an all time great I think his opinion actually matters unlike these sports “analysts” that have never touched a basketball in their life
Nobody cares what vince carter said. He was great and kobe’s a legend but carter’s words don’t matter. Paul pierce said Lebron ain’t top 5 which was idiotic. These are all opinions. Not facts.
Michael Jordan never really embraced the new generation of players like Kobe did. The only one he ever really had a relationship with WAS Kobe. Michael decided he’d rather be more private and to himself
Jamaal dagreatest that’s his personality. You Can’t hold it against him. There are a lot of greats that just want to live a normal life after a long prolific career.
HighRoller23 Oh believe me nah I’m not I was just giving my analysis on the two’s personality towards helping the league evolve. You’re absolutely right MJ doesn’t owe anybody anything
Bigtime. Spain was coming from behind like a freight train, had all the momentum in the world and Kobe single handedly stopped them cold when the rest of the guys were on the verge of choking.
