You can also use a different developer with less high percentage with the box dye than what comes in the package. It’s still permanent but it’ll be less damaged, especially when you’re already a light colour you really don’t need the 30 developer

ColorOops is literally meant to get red hair color out. Also, you used conditioner in permanent hair color, which just turned the higher volume developer it came with to a much lower volume so it wasn't harsh on your hair. Your choices actually led to keeping your hair in the best condition possible without using just direct pigments.

I'm using box hair dye for roughly 25 years now, my hair never felt bad. I also use semi permanent and permanent hair dye, never had and issue of getting it out at all. Water quality plays also a role as well as if you're in the sun for a long period of time. I do like the colour, suits you 😊

Box dye is perfectly fine on hair that you want to keep that color. Box dye is problem when you go dark and the bleach it to death to go back blonde. Permanent hair color shouldn’t come out of your hair easily no matter how cheap it is.

I'm new to this channel, and so far, this girl has: -no gloves, and for the first little bit of the video, no mirror -picked out permanent hair dye, because she doesn't want it to last as long???? -mixed conditioner with the dye, then proceeds to wonder why it's not as red -oh, did I mention, she's dying her hair RED with PERMANENT colour, in a HOTEL/RESORT? I mean I know the sheets in those places go through worse but damn, this girl is so brave. She gained a new subscriber.

I’ve found the opposite, a box of color silk by revlon ( about 3-5 dollars a box) last much much longer than those 13 dollar boxes

Giiirl I don't even need to watch to the end of the video to know you're going to regret this. It's likely made for dark hair so will be high lift 30 vol + colour. Cheaper usually means more aggressive.

I've used box dye for twenty years and my hair is fine. Just treat it right and follow directions and you'll be fine too.

Box dye is just not the way to go. First of all, the developer is very high (30 vol or more), so that it works on many different levels. That's unnecessary damage. Apart from that, permanent color on bleached hair is not a good idea. The color molecules will still fall out quite quickly, because the already opened cuticle can't hold the pigment that well anymore, especially after it's opened one more time with permanent color. But the rest of the color is difficult to get out and you have to use a color remover or bleach to get the "stain" out.

I honestly don't think box hair dye is as bad as people say it is 🤣🤣 I've used it for years and my hair is strong healthy and shiny 🤷🤷 I think what damages it the most is bleach 😬😬

In the future you can put conditioner on the sections you don’t want dyed as a barrier to protect them while you dye the others

The color of the dye doesn't always matters. Many black hair dyes are green for example.

Most semi permanent dye brands have a website you can order off of, so hopefully you see this before you end up desperate for box dye 😂 I use permanent dye but I don’t buy box dye. The sally near me has a lot of different permanent dye options and some box dye tho

That turned out super cute as usual, and as a hairdresser I’ll just say it’s usually not as bad as people say it is SO LONG AS it’s not metallic. If it has metals in it, bleaching it will cause it to fall right off. Watched a girl at cosmetology school’s hair start smoking because of a chemical reaction so we rinsed it immediately and hoped for the best but the next day she came to school with a chemical haircut (it all broke off at the roots overnight). We looked back at her Facebook pics to see if she was honest about only dying her hair once over the past year and it turns out she forgot she’d dyed it once or twice a month every single month with box dye so we couldn’t even figure out which dye reacted with the bleach

red box dye literally washes out completely and pretty fast compared to semi permanent dye which will probably stain forever. i've had red box dye for years aswell as copper and it always faded to a nice blonde eventually.

Adding conditioner just dilutes the volume of developer. If you have 20v, you can mix 1:1 with conditioner and make 10v. It probably helped with damage

Don't lose the hope! Your hair is gona be ok, I alread dye my hair like 4 times with Black box hair dye and always rised out completely (I have porous hair)

It was not a bad idea to put conditioner in the formula, I was actually rooting for you to do so, cause you don't need that power of probably a higher percentage developer that comes with a box dye, cause your hair is already lightened Also, you could easily dilute the formula that way, and give yourself more time, or make the color more pastel

Color oops takes box dye out. That’s what I use and there only is a small amount of drying which conditioner helps.

Maybe you can hit the blonde with a quick bleach bath? Then the next time you wash, wash the blonde first then cover it with a mask then wash the red.

I do have to say couple things tho I'm so sorry I hope it's not the case but: I live in Australia, closer to Indonesia/Bali - and the "cheaper" or worse quality the box hair dye is here, the more likely it is to stain and neverrrrrr wash out 😬 the better quality/more expensive ones seem to be better for the hair so I've noticed they usually fade way more than the cheap ones 😭 Also, I was always told/thought you should have dirty hair when dying to protect the scalp & avoid scalp getting coloured & also it protects your hair more too?

The fact that it didn't stain your hands doesn't mean anything because the whole point of semi permanent is that it colors superficially whereas permanent goes through a process that will be different on your hair strands vs skin. I have always found that permanent dye doesn't stain my skin.

You should dye your hair with watercolors if u want it to rinse out :3 it workss
