As a mother, she has my deepest sympathies. And she’s right, these Utah laws need to change.

He needs life without for murdering this young man Reprehensible

Wait, one to 15 years for murder?!?!!?? That is insane!

She is such a strong woman with a powerful voice. That sentence is an absolute joke. This man was squatting. He was not allowed to own a firearm because of past convictions. And he took a bright, dedicated young man from this world. Vote for change Utah.

Thank you for speaking out about the laws and how to change them. Sorry for your loss. I’ve been following this story since when your son first went missing. I was impressed by his entrepreneurial spirit. We all lost a good man who would have made society better.

I find it impossible to see this as justice but sadly that’s apparently the ‘best’ Utah can do. (I’m an embarrassed Utah resident) At the very least I hope this brings peace & some sort of closure to Candice, Justin & the many people who love Dylan. She has been an amazing advocate for Dylan. She is the person that made sure her son was located and that his killer faced charges. I truly believe law enforcement would have let this case turn cold and never be solved without her pressing them.

Such a tragic senseless murder. Cold blooded, two shots in his head. Over something petty that made the man mad. He took the life of a good young man who was living a positive life. This angry old man, who had guns he should never have had, used one to end an innocent young man’s life. Maybe out of pure sad and pathetic jealousy.

Hugs to you from 🇨🇦. A friend of mine's son was murdered, his killer is now out of jail after serving 4 years. Shane's body has never been recovered and his location was never part of the plea deal. My friend has been and still is gutted. Canadian laws also need to change.

I pray that positive changes will come from this tragic senseless loss, and Dylan's parents can begin healing.

Was the reason Brenner murdered Dillon ever revealed?

I completely agree with Candice Cooley. It's a weak plea deal following a weak investigation from the start. Did Brenner even need to explain what transpired and his motive?

What’s everyone complaining about? If Brenner hadnt had an option of getting less time he would not have had a bargaining chip and he never would have confessed or plead guilty or told anyone where the body was. He ONLY did that to get a lesser sentence and mayyyybe have an opportunity to get out someday…. And because of our justice system all three happened …the guilty confession ..the body…. and the monster who did this behind bars…. they now have their sons remains. As sad as it is …that IS huge! That is EVERYTHING! This family can finally rest knowing they have their sons body back and know where he is laid to rest now… buried at home w his loved ones and his family having the peace of not wondering where he is or what happened….. the knowing is everything … the not knowing is pure hell! A hell they no longer need to live out every single day! To have him and know what happened. And Brenner pleading guilty! That is justice! He will most likely die behind bars and if he doesn’t he will be a VERYYYY OLD lonely worthless man w a miserable damn life. This is still a WIN! 15-30 years behind bars means he won’t get out until he’s 90 …IF he makes it out alive. DYLAN DID finallllly GET JUSTICE AND SO DID HIS FAMILY! To be able to find that phone in the pond w actual video footage was a damn MIRACLE ! The fact he actually caved and plead guilty and told where the body was ..is truly unbelievable & that almost never happens in true crime cases….ever!!!!! To know what really happened because of that video helps sooooo much ! This family KNEW HE WAS GUILTY THEY KNEW WHAT HAPPENED AND THAT VIDEO PROVED IT confession or not! Dylan and his fam has had GOD on their side! Evil did not win here!the prayers of thousands were heard by God! GOD speed DYLAN!

I am so glad Dylan's family has won. It won't bring him back but his killer will now pay. It's a travesty the murderer will spend more time in jail over guns than he will over murdering a teenager. Shame on him and shame on the court system that allows this to happen.

This is the saddest story… just shows no Americans can escape the effects of permissive liberal drug infested society America has become. They need to declare a state of emergency. Drugs and the criminal activity it’s caused is destroying America.
