Definitely the most likable voice acting in the series too.

I loved how you only started with a few from each faction and how you unlocked their 4th weapon and items

raymund usi I sorta agree. For me, 5, 7, and 8 (all derivatives) are some of the best, but Dynasty Warriors 3 really got it going for me: best cheesy voice acting of the whole series, along with some neat visual effects and some cool map designs and ideas I wish would come back.

out of all of them I love 4's campaigns the most due to what you did you could go right for an end of a set of missions like the yellow turban scenario where there are 3 maps you could A. battle your way through all three which would remove the 2 Zhang brothers from the final mission and make Zhang Jiao utterly pissed or B. you could do half which would leave one route to Zhang Jiao weakened or C. just fight the map like it would be in free play it was great I had fun finding all the hidden missions which weren't all the massive battles involving hundreds of mooks.

Yeah. I love seeing Xu Shu, Lu Xun, and Hanbei team up!

They also invented Renbu, the best battle mechanic this series had. Too bad in DW6 Special they removed Swimming and makeshift duel. The best and (kinda less) worse thing they made is giving Sun Shang Xiang a bow, she's a full time OP character that could shave troops & base gates so easily even in Chaos she could play close-range against Lu Bu / the entire forces (Snowy stage where the 3 forces as enemies are absurdly strong, and the one where you get chased by Lu Bu all the way across the map) and still win

@@noyoucantnoicantnowecantsostop yeah I never understood why they gave Shang Xiang a bow. It was out of character. The Renbu system I didn’t mind at all and for some reason they didn’t bring back the duels that were great in 6. I remember playing as Cao Cao and Ma Chao yelled out his name and a duel instantly started with troops surrounding us, It was epic. In addition I feel they should have kept Gan Nings knives from 6. His moves with the twin daggers were great and fits his pirate feel. The current sickle chain is not good at all.

They nerfed Xiahou Dun so bad that I quitted the game.

Bodyguards were cool until the point where you wanted to kill an enemy general and the fucker Kill stole you.

I can assure you that it's not just nostalgia playing tricks on you. I'm the same way, and I think I know why that is the case: First of all, as the graphics and on screen soldier counts climbed drastically, the enemy A.I. has been on the decline ever since Dynasty Warriors 4. For example, If you can look past the twitchy late ps1 early ps2 graphics, enemy soldiers in Dynasty Warriors 2 and 3 and to some extent 4 actually trying to kill you and capable of doing so if you are not careful and got surrounded by them especially with couple of Officers backing them up, but after Dynasty Warriors 4, it's a cake walk to kill couple thousands of DW cannor-folders including filler Officers when all they do are posing around waiting to be killed. I miss the Dynasty Warriors 2-4 days where you actually feel like you characters still are just legendary warriors but still vulnerable and human instead of demi-gods and alternate DC super-heroes. Secondly, the fact that weapons in Dynasty Warriors 2-4 actually still somewhat functions like blades and clubs and NOT the glorious super heroes weapons that explode into fantastical effect orgasms as soon as the characters swing them like in later Dynasty Warriors entries also helps to reinforce your immersion of being in an ancient battlefield and not in alternate Medieval Asian DC universe. Nowadays, aside from a few grounded characters like Guan Yu and Xiahou brothers, everyone else in this series behave like DC super-heroes with a trillion tons of modern make ups on. However, even this illusion of "properly dressed and behaved for the occasion" evaporates as soon as you starts playing when every segment of the game plays like Super-Saiyan annihilating the original Red Ribbon Army.

i played it first too, but its not that great, i like its mechanics, but 7 and especially 8 its way better for me, but i think dw6 is better than the old ones, i tried to play but didnt like it at all

I really like this mechanics, other are button mashing square combo with triangle.. This is different.. I prefer some of the character weapons from dw6, example menghuo, yue ying, ma chao (and costume), diaochan (finally dw7), sun shang xiang (she is a bow princess although the chakrams are better)
