The E-BikeKit E-Trike Kit is a versitile electric bike kit specifically designed for trikes, available in a wide range of wheel sizes. I have one of their original kits back from 2008 currently mounted on my Schwinn mountain bike. 36 volt 500 watt and still going strong, still on all the original parts from the kit, only difference is i built a lithium-ion battery pack from old laptop batteries. Great kit and VERY well built.

Thank you for making this great review! I found a 1967 Schiwn 3 wheeler that I am going to attempt to convert into a ebike! And this bike has 3 speeds also! I can't wait to get started on it!

I have a Merdian trike in my yard just waiting to be converted into the grocery store Ebike. My trike is very unstable and I would not ride it at speeds over 15mph. I have a recumbent trike and I like to cruise at 14.5 mph as it can get very jumpy. Thanks for another informative episode!

Electric Bike Review Thanks for the links! I really like the Ebike Kit featured in the report as it has the strut that mounts several inches above the axle. If you have ever witnessed what damage an over powered wheel kit can do to the fork I think you would agree. I am thinking of unbolting the rear "trike axle" and extending the frame to the rear 24 inches. Of course I would then bolt the axle assembly back on. Perhaps then fabricate a small bed out of alum with an expanded alum floor. I must first experiment with the extension to see just how much damage the extension does to the stability of the trike.

Zed Bowman Sounds like a cool project. I believe the strut thing you are referring to is called a "torque arm" and yeah, they can help disperse the mechanical force throughout the fork or rear arms on a bike to avoid bending the dropouts.

Zed Bowman Meridians have horrible steering geometry. A trike needs generous rake to be stable. Desoto classic is one of the best to ride.

All my questions are estimates. How much did the kit cost you? How far can the bike go when fully charged and not turning it off? Is the battery DC or AC chargeable? Will there be a charging unit that comes with the kit? Please let me know and as said these questions a estimations.

I can’t believe he puts a lead-acid battery in unless you live in Minnesota. Drag - I have experienced that in my old el bike and it mostly negates having petals but thanks for informing us - as sellers never mention stuff like that. I’ve heard of lots of quality problems with the big formerly American made bike company.

i had a tire with that exact pattern (of the rear wheels) :) also that rear wheel should turn a lot more than that only a front V-brake ? that's an accident waiting to happen specially if you load the back and are going down hill

I think it also has the coaster brake so you can use your feet to brake with the pedals and that stops both of the rear wheels. The kit comes with two brake levers and they cut power to the motor but it depends on how the trike is setup and whether it can accommodate both.

It comes with a battery pack. I have just purchased one of these to go on my trike, it was an easy installation and I love it. It was very satisfying converting it myself.

the Trike comes in 7spd also....that causes a problem with the right grip and speed control, the shifter is in the way? E-Bikekit does nor want to talk about it!!!

Tried to ride the trike I bought and all it wanted to do is swing into to kerb and was unrideable. Especially on. Cambered roads which all toads should be to allow water to run off. I went over it to see why was causing it, I think its just a cheaply made trike

Another tricycle ebike FAIL. Any child will tell you the tricky part of riding a tricycle is cornering - go to fast the trike tips up on 2 wheels and flips on its side. Seeing a tricycle take a corner fast is the test of its worth.

So what's up with this new lingo your generation seems to be using a great deal where every other sentence you guys throw in; "ah, yeah" or "so, yeah"? You people sound like a bunch of 13 y.o. valley girls from the 80's. Anyway, how much is the kit? Or how much is the entire set-up w/trike & all? Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike ru-vid.comUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
