Great video and tutorial! Thanks a lot! I'm flying this bird for a while but that front landing gear is getting very loose... I wouldn't dare to do that electronic job you just did... congrats!

Such a good video. I've never seen a rework gun used before. So much easier than trying to wick away old solder one pad at a time .

Yes,I noticed that the points were towards the front instead of the back. Good catch at the end!

Fantastic repair video! I ran into a similar problem with my own UMX Cirrus. I flew it back to back with an Aero Commander and was really caught off guard by how tail-heavy the Cirrus ended up feeling, even with one of Eflite's 280mah packs set as far forwards as possible. I even turned it sideways! I just couldn't seem to get it to come down at a healthy speed without stalling, and eventually did bonk it down and break that nose gear loose. I'm looking at trying a 400mah battery with an adapter and seeing if that gives it a little bit nicer CG & sink rate once I finish my own repair. Have you found any more tweaks with the Cirrus since this video?

Like the repair. Could magnets have been used to hold the cowl so that you could have future access to the gear and motor.

Glad I wasn't the only one to notice. Good solder job by the way.

I disagree with your comments on the landing gear I’ve flown mine many times and not had any problems.. practice your landings so you don’t land so hard it’s a lightweight airplane it’s only going to be so strong but I’m glad to see you got it going again you did a great job soldering that chip in I would have just bought a new one lol

Its been a long time since the last time I did any SMT soldering, I was super pleased it went the way it did. And i agree, practice practice practice. The hard part was how early on the plane was destroyed by my need to ditch during take off. it made me cry a little, She is a very fragile bird.

@@angryzeppelin2750 I remember that flight. Wasn't that the one where some guy dang near hit you with his 6S jet? I'm glad there wasn't more damage.

Great video and great job! I have the similar situation but the receiver works fine for all the controls except for the main motor its like the motor controller is not working anymore. Will replacing this same chip you did fix my issue you think?
@angryzeppelin2750
@angryzeppelin2750 4 года назад
it might. its such a cheap fix it may be worth trying. a dead radio is a dead radio and that's the problem of having the esc built in to the same board. however one other thing you cant try is a different motor. if you have another umx plane they all seem to use the same motor and connector.

@@angryzeppelin2750 thank you for your response. I tried a different motor and still the same however since all the other channels still work could I just assign the flaps channel for throttle and get a separate ESC and connect them to ch 6 which are the flaps as I dont used them anyway, could that work?

I just hate to pay $65 for another board if it could be fixed...
