It's a scam to rip off drivers. People wonder why no one trusts the government...when they go and do crooked things like this. The personal who created this scam should be fined and put in prison.
It happend to me.i forgot to put the easy pass in my car and drove to Jersey and got two violations by mail and the toll was $6.50 each way with $50 administrative fees on each ticket.its highway robbery and im glad that someone is taking the matter to court.
Have yet to find any information on the status of the class action lawsuit. Hopefully they get what’s coming because it’s absolutely ridiculous that they’re allowed to charge that much when most EZPASS states (like Massachussets for years now) have been using toll by mail and just charge an additional 10 cents if you don’t have EZPASS. Meanwhile some toll booths in NJ are Ezpass only. You basically have no choice
I went to NJ and NY from GA and am slammed with 3 toll letters as expected but also 3 $50 administration fees to my shock. Rip off state NJ. Will never ever recommend anyone to move there. I think their 3-4% property tax is not enough.
EZ Pass is an EZ racket. All of these fees and taxes NJ is getting....where is it going??? Not on the roads, not on affordable and DECENT housing. How are other states able to manage and created revenue without excessive tolls???? NJ has been using its proximity to NY and Philly has a rationale for it's COL but what is the state offering outside of this....I'll wait.....
It goes into the salaries of big bosses Bob, Doug, supervisors like Mina and Kareem who get to eat marijuana brownies, screw call reps and fire people. Trust me, I worked there.
@@lorrainea.285 yeah clearly the 5 dollar tolls werent paid but thats still alot of money for 5 dollars? And who tf are you? Take your responsible azz somewhere else
I thought checking if a car (via license) has EZ pass was SOP / protocol - it is in NY in many crossings. It's confusing. In NY many bridges are cash-less tolls and your auto plates (i.e. or EZ pass is charged). In NJ / DE / MD i use the device, they often ignore it and slam me for tolls + $50. It's insane!! It's frankly an illegal tax.
Same crap jus happened to me. I live in New York and just went to go see my dad and MD, I just got hit with the Delaware toll and administrative fee although my NY E-ZPass was in good standing..
In NJ whether you are active or not, $1 fee monthly. I think I'll go back to paying tolls! No more guessing, no more bogus calls, no more hours trying yo straighten out their bllling, no admin! Can you imagine if we all did, what would they do? To top it off, I won't have to pay in advance anymore!
I just got hit with 2 $50 administrative fees from July 2024 , $0.80 and $6.50 for tolls so $107.30 for visiting New Jersey, those people are criminals
I have a $50 dollar fee for 6 crossings over the Newburgh Beacon Bridge at $1.75 per crossing. There is no toll at the bridge no choice of lanes. I also have a $100 dollar fee for a bridge in the Bronx that there was no toll for! For 6 $1.75 crossings and 2 non toll crossings one crossing over the Mario Cuomo bridge My fee total is $998. My son suffered a traumatic loss of his right arm and was hospitalized during this time. He then was charged $51.75 each time he followed up with his prosthetist in effort to get a prosthetic arm. I will be fighting these unjustified outrageous fees to cross a bride that has a $1.75 toll and no toll booth. I just received this information and I am outraged
I’ve gotten the same 2 violations three times. All 3 times I printed out the receipts that they were paid as well as the senate bill S646. I’m not paying any fines or fees. They’re all for $50-$54
They take advantage of out of state e-zpass holders, specifically those from NY and Pa. I personally never had an issue with e-zpass, whether it be in New York, Pennsylvania, or surrounding states. They just take the toll amount from my account and if it goes negative, then I get a notification to bring it up-to-date and that’s the end of it. It’s only when traveling through NJ I have an issues. New Jersey doesn’t tell you that they have a policy in which they limit the amount of times administrative fees are waived. When you get a violation notice instead of taking it out of your account, they send you a letter with the toll amount and an administrative fee. Typically you can get this fee waived if you are an ez-pass holder by disputing it and bringing your account up to date to cover the toll amount. NJ e-z pass doesn’t make any mention in regards to this policy in any of their violation notices. They intentionally don’t share this with out of state ezpass holders that they will not waive administrative fees after a certain amount of times, even if the toll amounts are already paid for. You are only allowed to dispute a limited amount of times. Basically, they are taking advantage of out-of-state ez pass holders who are not aware of New Jersey’s specific e-zpass policies. If this is their policy, they should at least warn you in one of the violation notices they sent you that if you incur a new violation notice going forward, we will no longer waive administrative fees due to a set limit.
Can someone do something? They actually steal money from us!2023 October today still same problem I have 2 call them 3 times waiting hours to getting attention and getting charged money cause ez pass fail 3 times for a bank issue!$3 tolls I ending pay more than $100
Shouldn't that be normal policy to check to see if they have an account with EZ pass before billing someone? This is insane this whole world is twisted
I also thought this was SOP / protocol. It's confusing. In NY many bridges are cash-less tolls and your license (i.e. or EZ pass is charged). In NJ / DE / MD i use the device, they often ignore it and slam me for tolls + $50. It's insane!!
Some agencies have imposed periodic account maintenance fees on their subscribers. After New Jersey began losing money with the E-ZPass system, a monthly account fee of one dollar was implemented on July 15, 2002[75] and is still in effect for both individual and business accounts.[76] The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey also charges a monthly individual account fee of one dollar.[77] On July 1, 2009, the Maryland Transportation Authority began charging a fee of $1.50 a month to account holders[78] which, as of July 1, 2015, only applies to non-residents and is waived if three Maryland E-ZPass tolls were incurred during the previous month.[79]
It happened to me several times and I have money on my ez pass! How do I get in touch with this lawyer cause something is giving that NJ trying to come up off of hardworking everyday people. We already struggling enough how we get a bill that costs damn near a one way plane ticket to NY. I know this been going on for years this is a Mafia toll that's what this is.
My transponder malfunctioned and I got two bills even though my license plate was registered with EZ-pass, it was on autofill, and other tolls were paid while I was waiting for my new transponder. I sent the dispute form in with my explanation, new transponder number and a check for the toll. The forms and check was returned to me without explanation and a letter saying my dispute was rejected because either 1) I waited to long to dispute (WRONG) 2) My license plate was not corrected within 3 days (It was on file for over a year) or 3) There wasn't money in the account (It was on autoreplenish). I figured I'd just pay the fees since clearly I am dealing with the mafia.
Im currently dealing with the same situation, they either reject or ignore your dispute letter to try to dispute those astronomical fees, the fact they have support of the department of transportation to suspend your vehicle registration if you don't pay just shows that they're all in to rob us, it's indeed legalized robbery, they should all be ashamed of themselves but obviously they're not!
Got 2 toll violations with a Va tag with money in account, each one has $50 administration fee for $3.40 dollars of tolls. Try to call NJ EZ pass on hold for 1hr 27mins. hour they must want you to hangup and pay these fees. I drive through NJ often since I have family in NY. The rep. that answered the phone did put the 3.40 on the account without the fees but I will check my statement to make sure. Long hour and a half wait on hold but for $100 its worth it. NY charged me a five-dollar fee for a dollar toll, and I just paid it. If NJ charge the same as NY, they will make money since most would pay five dollars, then hold on the phone for an hour. I wonder what happen on this lawsuit since I just found out about it today while I was on the phone holding for NJ EZ pass to answer, maybe by calling they won't charge the fees.
every time I drive to ny I get so many of these ez pass violations and jersey is the worst with it. they need to at least check if I got an account with ez pass no matter what state you are in.
I got billed they said i owen them over $1200 what can I do ? I have my device I leve in ny and go there to visitation on my elderly uncle and now I owned that much 😤😢🥵
It's happening to a lot of people including me. I got a bill from them saying I passed thru e.z pass on the 27 of May . Guess what ? , I was work that day& nowhere near the turnpike that day
E-ZPass users are not required to maintain their account with an agency in their home state (or if in a toll-free state, the closest one to them). Subscribers can open an E-ZPass account with any member of the IAG regardless of residency. This means that users have the option of choosing an agency based on the fees that it charges, effectively allowing them to circumvent transponder and account maintenance fees.
i just had to pay 600 dollars that's after a hardship request the bill total was 2,700. i jumped through hoops to get this fixed took 3 months . its not 100 percent their fault but i think the fees are ridiculous and the communication
When I worked the phones for NJ E-ZPass and encountered so many people complaining about violations, admin fees etc. I always asked myself.. Why don't people just cover up the license plate or use a toy licence plate?
Imagine the mafia telling you the you need to pay protection money to guard against further fees and legal action. Or, think of it as a ticket that doesn't put points on your driving record.
It means EZ pass company or Port Authority fraudulently creating double or triple ez pass account on the basis of States like NY EZpass, PA EZpass etc.
Yea last month I went from mass to NJ and back and got a 108 dollars bill, I don’t see where you even pick up the ticket, no person and no button to push to get it. I thought you just go thru like the mass pike.
Same boat as you! I’m in RI (no tolls at all here so it’d be a waste to pay for EZ pass). My son had a soccer tournament. THERE WAS NO OPTION other than to drive through! So what did I violate exactly when they don’t give you a choice? $50 “administrative BULLSHIT Fee” on a $ 2.08 toll…I’ll be damned.
If you live in the States of NJ or NY, I am an attorney, who has a 100% track record in eliminating EZ Pass fines and penalties. Class action lawsuits are not going to help you. IF you live in another state, than you need to retain an experienced bankruptcy attorney, licensed in your state.
Or move to a state where you don't pay tolls...a significant portion of the US don't. That's a part of the problem, they expect you to "just pay it" without question, that's why they've been able to get away with this for so long. High taxes...just pay it, high tolls just pay it, how about I pay for my moving truck...that's what I need to pay for.
@@maxflanagan6641 You are certainly entitled to your opionion but that's why there are attorneys to fight back against these things. Some of us like living in NJ/NY area.
