Great footage. I liked your picture in picture of the engine gauges. My air cleaner goes straight into that forward rad support. It's just open as your is, so I'm not sure what you can do besides keep new air filters on hand. I like seeing that map at the end of the video too.

There are a lot of trees out there, I am just glad they didn’t get in the way of us seeing that beautiful XJ 😎

I hate to be a killjoy but I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you have a cracked head had the same thing happen to my XJ those heads are known to have this problem a decent shop will have a tester to look for exhaust gas in the coolant also I am a professional Mechanic have been working full time as a mechanic since 1987 I hope that I’m wrong about this good luck and thanks for the videos I really enjoy them

That's all there is to the stock airbox. I ran a cowl intake using the stock box. Moves the intake higher and facing rearward so should help with dust though if you have ABS it would get in the way of routing the required hose.

I have ABS so will need to work around that. Just having the air flow redirected toward the back will help. I also need to do something about my wheel wells. A lot of dust comes into the engine from that area since I have no water,mud,dust deflectors there.

You are going to get the same amount of dust collection on your filter whether its a cold air intake or factory. Actually a cold air intake with a K&N filter would be better because there is more surface material to filter the air vs. a factory filter.

Hopefully it was just your air filter causing the heating. I can't remember from your old videos, but did you ever add a toggle switch to your electric fan? I know a lot of folks do that to help with temps at crawling speeds and its a fairly simple mod.

U may want to look into a lower temp thermostat it will open up at lower temp and may help with the engine temp for u. Cause 228f is a little hot most engines do 210f

How many miles a day would you figure for planning purposes,,,taking time and allowing for detours and mishaps as well as you can..???
@simpleoverlander
@simpleoverlander 3 года назад
It all depends on your timing. We did this a lot faster than I would have on my own. Depending on the section, we would do 100-200 miles a day. Need to cover about 110 a day on average to do it all in about 3 weeks like we did. Personally I would do it again in 4 weeks to enjoy the views more. It can be done a lot faster too, but that leaves much leas time to enjoy yourself and the sights that are out there. it would just be a sprint in that case. I had my share of mishaps and repairs, so that pressed us for time a bit more, but still did it within our planned approx. 3 weeks
