Hello JH55000, I'm very impressed with your work on your 5 Gauge Thomas the E2 Tank Engine, I cannot wait to see him running by the end of the year. You should take your 5 Gauge E2 Thomas to shows and other 5 Gauge Railways across the country in future, I'll love to see him. I know Thomas is very small and won't be able to pull a heavy train, but pull one carriage with a few passengers. Keep up the good work mate. Kind Regards Jordan Shingler ;-)
Nice I know all about this stuff because my Grandad used to be in the 7 1/4 gauge Society and so did I my grandad also built 7/4 gauge locomotives and before that 5 inch gauge locomotives
Your engine is looking amazing!! Can't wait to see it finished, but i want to give you a recomendation, instead of using 3 link on the front and back hook you should use a screw-link (or link and pin) instead of the 3 links, cuz maybe a link can snap
How did you make the face? What material did you use? This is really coming along nicely. You can tell that you have spent a lot of time and effort into making a great model
The black rims and the nameplate give this such a touch of glamour to the model. By the way I don't know if you've answered this question before but what is the face made of? Looks a bit like clay.
be careful the engine doesn't get too hot so the plastic melts! That's what happened to the Strasburg Railroad's Thomas replica; when they fired it up for the first time, the plastic eyes melted and ran down the fiberglass face of the engine(!)
@@brocomotive I agree, I used shapeways in the past to make a face, out of the a plastic/aluminium mix. (No longer in production) As I thought it would handle the heat better than regular plastic. However heat started to make the hook part of the 3d print to hold the face on started to melt, and almost glued the face permanently to the smokebox! Luckily it came off eventually, and I experimented with using some of that Silicon baking material as a spacer. But I haven't used the face since.
I can take a guess who one of them might be, considering he ripped the daylights out of this particular class in one or two of his videos, and won't even bother to say anything positive about them.
Wow, James, he's really coming along. I can't wait to see him running. By the way, is that your own railway, or does it belong to a model engineering group?
Well, considering that JH55000 is the one who proposed the project, I should think he knows about it already. What really annoys me about the project is that far too many trolls and sceptics (probably spurred on by one Eden-Green) are writing it off without even bothering to look into it properly. From what I learned in a previous conversation with JH55000, he already has a full set of drawings, and therefore has probably had a proper chance to study them and work out what needs doing where - and yet other people are saying "don't bother, it's a white elephant"! Seriously, have none of them learned anything from Duke of Gloucester's restoration?! Just because they were less than capable at commuter services doesn't mean they're no good on branch lines!
