In regards to your shepherd's pie, quick lil tip for next time, if you spread the mashed potatoes flush against the rim of the dish/pan/pot you are baking in with a spoon/your fingies and then move inward you can mitigate some of that leakage you had and keep the juices and moisture in the meat/veggie mixture
